Did not take breakfast, already knew location. Reception staff helpful but often outnumbered by guests.

I received an email claiming to be from Raga via Booking.com. It looked genuine but claimed they had made a mistake and needed my payment details again, or the booking would be cancelled. l ignored it. No mention of it was made at the hotel, if this is a real scam it should be publicised.

Our stay at Muthu Raga Hotel in Madeira was absolutely fantastic when we did the trip 11th to the 17h of September 2024! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The hotel’s location is perfect, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding landscapes. Waking up to such stunning scenery was truly a dream. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, with every detail thought out for comfort and relaxation. We especially loved the balcony, where we spent peaceful mornings enjoying the warm weather while gazing at the sea. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They were attentive, always ready to assist with a smile, and made us feel right at home. The hotel's amenities, including the pool and dining areas, were top-notch. We had the pleasure of dining at their restaurant, where the food was not only delicious but also highlighted the local flavors of Madeira. Overall, our stay at Muthu Raga Hotel was an unforgettable experience. The combination of exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, and comfortable accommodations made it a perfect getaway. We can’t wait to return!

The staff was amazing with us. All our requests were immediately attended. We had a technical problem in our bathtub and after we informed reception in 10 min it was fixed! On my girlfriend's birthday, we received a free bottle of espumante which was an amazing surprise! Very nice area in Funchal, a very nice pool and a very complete breakfast. Amazing croissants! 🤤 The hotel's restaurant always had themed dinners but unfortunately we were not able to try.

This hotel's biggest problem is the lack of parking space. Probably 10-15 parking spaces for such a big hotel. There are public parking spaces around but it's not always easy to find. In the next few years it also needs to be updated to stay competitive.

I loved the view from balcony in my room and terrace in restaurant. I am very thankful for saving my holidays! Lovely woman (unfortunately I do not know name - I know she has a ginger hair) helped me with my swollen ankle and gave bag of ice. It was very lovely gesture of her, as I could spend rest holidays exploring the island. We had option with breakfast, bread, hams, cheeses, vegetables were very tasty and good quality. We also enjoyed juices and coffee (great choice). I liked fried egg at most, I choose this over scrambled eggs. In Madeira and in this hotel I realise I like pineapple. It was delicious, whole life I didn’t like it because I never tasted such good pineapple. Rooms were cozy, everyday fresh towels. Rooms were equipped with blankets also. Air conditioning was working fine. Location of hotel was great. Parking was a bit small, but I understand it - too many cars for such small island. But we could easily find another parking spot max 10 min (by foot).

Maybe bathroom would need a bit renovation - I was missing electric socket near the mirror.

Great value for the location. Beautiful view from the communal seating areas, restaraunt, and pool. Walkable for many bakeries, restaraunts,and waterfront. Room was large.

The cleaning service is limited, our beds were made but no fresh towels provided unless asked for. There was a cockroach In our room the first night when we arrived. For those driving during their visit to the island, the parking lot is very small which makes it a bit stressful to plan your day trips and we didn’t take our car out again in the evening once parked for fear we wouldn’t be able to park again for overnights.

We had breakfast and dinner (half board) which can really be recommended. Everything is well proportioned and there is a lot to choose from. I especially want to highlight the Dinner. A large refrigerator table with small dishes for starters. There were 3-4 main courses to choose from with fish, meat, chicken. In addition to this, fruit salad and other sweets such as cake etc. were always served for dessert. Gold star also to the staff who really had good service!

Possible improvements: The hotel and the dining room are very nice but it lacks that little something extra. Why not have a flower on the reception desk which is welcoming. In the dining room, I would like to see you place a small flower on the tables, dim the lighting in the evening and why not have some music in the background (as it is now, unfortunately it will be a bit of a school canteen)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Muthu Raga Madeira hotel. The breakfast buffet provided a selection of cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cheeses, bakery items, full English breakfast etc., whilst the evening buffet, which was changed daily, provided a large variety of freshly prepared vegetables, meat dishes, fish, pasta, salads etc., as well as a large variety of desserts. The hotel was exceptionally clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Location was a pleasant 30 minutes walk into Funchal, passing sea and harbour views and stopping at gardens for hot drinks and ice creams en route. Hotel was very well serviced with buses into town and airport bus.

I had a great stay here! I was upgraded to a room with a beautiful sea view, and the view from the balcony was amazing. The staff were very friendly, and the location was perfect—only 10 minutes by bus to the city center. You can use the pool lift to get to the main street, which was very convenient.

Sadly, the breakfast was disappointing. Some dishes lacked flavor, and the scrambled eggs were watery and tasted the same. Hopefully, this can be improved in the future.

Hotel was in a very good location, 20 minute walk into Funchal and also plenty of restaurants around the hotel. Breakfast had plenty of options. Room was simple but everything you needed. Overall facilities were very good, we didn't use the pool but looked nice. Staff helped with questions we had and helped us arrange a car hire when we there. Also we were upgraded to a Seaview when we arrived which was a nice touch

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The room had a stunning ocean and pool view, was spacious, well-lit, and equipped with all the necessities. The bathroom was also roomy and impeccably clean. However, our only issue was that despite our request, we were given two single beds instead of a double bed due to the hotel being semi-empty during the off-season. This somewhat marred our overall experience.
