Ker Briac was definitely one of the best places we stayed in our travelling career so far - it may not be a clone of a 5 star hotel, it does not try to impress you with basic visuals - it is instead a place that really and truly feels like home with an added bonus of having a tailor made breakfast in a botanical garden and a world class view. Anne and Stephane did their best to help with anything we needed, gave excellent advice about the city and island, prepared a daily breakfast which was always a bit new and optimised for our needs. Also, your room is the only room in the house that is being rented out, so its you and the hosts for the whole duration. If you are having any doubts about booking Ker Briac - don't!

These are not dislikes, more like friendly warnings to new guests: - place is in Monte above Funchal so you will need some logistics to reach the centre and the rest of the island - the street where Ker Briac is located is very steep, so, if you are coming with a car listen to Anne and Stephane's instructions how to reach them - go from the north after the Farmacia Monte - you can park behind their car in the garage or on the street if there are free places. Just, remember that all is narrow and steep.

Amazing hosts, wonderful views, comfortable room, the best breakfast I have ever had in a bed and breakfast. Anne and Stephane were so welcoming, helpful with recommendations and even arranging for me to have my hair cut. Loved the recommendations that suited our style of travel and their knowledge of the area and how to best experience it were very helpful. We loved the gardens and the little touches in the rooms and grounds that depict how much they love and care for their place. Breakfast presentation and food was 5 star. We will miss this place and recommend it highly.

The road leading up to the property is narrow and windy but once there it is amazing.

The owners were very kind and gave us great recommendations for trips and places to visit. The room was super clean. The view was very nice. The breakfast was very tasty. The shower was modern and large. In general, we had a nice stay and would like to thank the owners for their hospitality.

I would appreciate the information that the owner will enter our room in order to throw away the garbage and fill up the toiltet paper which is appreciated, but we didn’t count with it. There is no Wi-Fi connection in the garden. It is not allowed to eat in the room, just in the garden. It would be great to have a single hot plate/ electric cooker to cook a meal, especially when there is a kitchenette with microwave, cutlery etc. It takes some time to get to the apartment from the highway and vice versa in order to get to the other parts of the island. The parking requires more advanced driver skills. The room is not soundproof.

A beautifully quaint place, set in the hills of Monte, with spectacular views! Perfect for those who don't want to be in the midst of Funcal city itself but are happy to rent a car or use public transport. Get practising your hill starts if renting a car!! We always felt very welcomed by the hosts, they were interested in us as individuals and what we had been up to in the day, offering tips/advice if needed! The room is just what we were after, after exploring in the day, to return to a home from home, equipped with everything we would need (hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities, leaflets from tourist attractions etc) Breakfast was very delicious, varied and served with a whole load of love! A thoroughly memorable stay and absolutely would not hesitate to return one day...

If I was being picky, then perhaps more comfortable pillow cases (but that is very picky!!)

Hosts are amazingly accommodating. They have very helpful information on activities/excursions around the island and restaurants to eat at. Every morning they prepared an exquisite breakfast for us overlooking the beautiful city of Funchal and the ocean. They strive to make sure their guests are comfortable and taken care of. Very nice couple!

Everything was great, a floor fan or something for air circulation would be good. We left our windows open for the night breeze.

Absolute perfect, extra ordinary, special, cannot find proper words. Anne and Stephane are nice, amazing people, very helpful. The garden and the view that is something you would prefer to have it home. Got a couple of inspirations that we try to introduce in our home place. The breakfast of Micheline star level. The place is closely located to the city centre, however since it sits on top of a hill, it’s highly recommended to rent a car to make more out of your stay. There’s a beautiful outdoor set up where you can enjoy your coffee with a couple of croissants and there’s also different green areas to feel immersed with nature. Stephane was genuinely friendly and helpful at all times and answered to our inquiries throughout the trip and even before our arrival.

The minor inconvenience was that due to Madeira’s weather conditions most of the places don’t count with AC and this was not the exception therefore it can get warm during the night.

Anne and Stéphan were wonderful hosts; just the right balance of being attentive but not overly so. The ever-changing breakfasts were amazing, as was the view whilst eating them. The room was very clean and a good size with a very comfortable and large bed. The shower was hot and powerful. Anne and Stéphan provided lots of useful tips for days out. The private garden area was a bonus that we weren't expecting. Very handy fridge in the outbuilding too. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. An amazing stay. Thank you!

Awesome place, with a really nice view. Anne and Stephane are really nice hosts, that helped with everything. The breakfast was really good. A lot of different fresh things to eat. The room was really clean and big. Also the garden with all the flowers and the view were unforgettable.

This is the best B&B experience we've ever had. Anne and Stephane are amazing hosts. They have put lots of love in the property, making it a fabulous home away from home for us. We did a lot of wonderful activities on the island of Madeira, but the best thing is to come back to Ker Briac to have a chat with Anne and Stephane, lounge in their beautiful garden, and enjoy the million dollar view of Funchal and the ocean in distance. The breakfast was beautifully presented with lots of varieties. Stephane went the extra mile to prepare a candle-it breakfast for our sun-rise hiking and Anne packed us breakfast for our early departure. Thank you, Anne and Stephane, for such a memorable experience. We'll return!
