Staying at Vila Teresinha was definitely good value for the money! The hosts are welcoming, friendly, funny and they also make sure you don't leave for a hike without a huge breakfast customized to your needs (coffee/tea, multiple egg options, fresh fruit salad, cookies and freshly baked bread/croissant you can smell from the terrace at 7.30 in the morning!). The room was sparkling clean and was cleaned every day. I was lucky enough to book one with a balcony, so I could enjoy a wonderful Sunrise every morning before breakfast and an awesome view to the downtown and the marina. The facilities were more than enough for my needs - water cooker & fan in the room, fridge, microwave & cutlery in the hallway. The bed was comfortable. The location is also excellent; very close to the city center, but the neighborhood is quiet. Everything is within walking distance; shopping center La Vie, municipal garden, taxies etc... 5 minutes, main bus station, cable car, old town within 20-25 minutes.

This is not a critique, but rather just a tip: if you stay here in August / September, head over to La Vie and get some bug repellent, because the mosquitoes don't respect your privacy and - despite the closed curtains - they keep coming in. 😃 The place itself is top-notch and there's nothing to mention here.

Simple and super clean room with a great terrace. Great location and lots of parking spots right in front of the accommodation. Parking was paid but it was really cheap (around 0.60€/hour) and free at night between 20h and 8h.

Good value for the money. Close to the town centre and still very quiet. Plenty of snack bars and restaurants nearby. Walking distance to the major sights, bus stops, promenade. Great breakfast to start the day. Spotlessly clean. Lots of indoor plants, giving the place a home feeling. While the only single room doesn't have any view, there's a community terrace on both floors that can be used to sit down and admire the town and the ocean. The owner advised during the booking process of the lack of the view so it didn't come as a surprise. And I was only expecting a simple, clean, budget accommodation which I got. All went well.

We spent 7 nights at this family-run guesthouse at the end of March 2025. From the moment we arrived, the hosts were friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. Situated in a quiet area, the accommodation is just a 10-minute walk from the center. The room was cozy, offering access to a lovely terrace with a nice view. Guests also have access to a shared fridge and kitchenware. The Wi-Fi connection in the room was strong, and it came equipped with a kettle and hairdryer. The shower provided both hot and cold water, and the room was cleaned daily. Breakfast was delicious and generous. We highly recommend staying here!

Prime position for visiting Funchal. An absolutely 1st class establishment. Hosts were very welcoming. Everything was VERY clean indeed. Room well equipped, kettle, cups, glasses, bath and hand towels provided, hairdryer. On the first floor landing should you wish to use it there is a microwave, cupboard with crockery/cutlery also a shared fridge but each room has its own box for items which works well. Great sun terrace with tables, chairs, parasols.

Nothing it was fabulous and we will definitely revisit in the future

We found out the day before departure that there was a bus service during the day which dropped off more or less outside the guest house - it would have been useful to know before.

The friendly, helpful hosts made me feel at home. Great breakfasts. Simple but spotless room which was cleaned daily. Access to a lovely terrace, a microwave and a fridge. Sea views. The location is quiet, with a nice mix of locals and visitors. It's close to the English Church (worth checking out the concerts) and the nearby restaurants are relaxed and friendly. It's a few minutes walk from La Vie, which has a good supermarket downstairs, and 10 minutes from Marina Shopping which is a favourite pick-up point for island tours and levada walks. For me, it was ideal, and I'd certainly go back.

I have to mention the TV sitting on top of the wardrobe and not really any use there! I didn't try to use it and I didn't miss it anyway. Sitting outside in the evening, I got a few midge bites, nothing much but I'd bring repellant next time.

Had a lovely stay here. Delighted with the location so close to everything. Literally 5 mins from La Vie shopping centre if you need anything. Less than 10 mins to the centre and a great selection of restaurant options. The location is a huge bonus if you are about town you can come and go throughout the day. As a solo female i always felt safe in the area. Had a lovely balcony with beautiful views and sunrises that I really enjoyed. Hosts were kind and friendly and the place was spotless. Kettle in room which was great and use of fridge Great value for money. An authentic, welcoming experience, old style but for me exactly what i needed. A quiet comfortable stay

The only small issue is hot water in shower, from time to time, it always came on but you needed to let it run for a few minutes

A favorable accommodation offer close to the city center and main attractions. The breakfast is rich, quite sweet (jams, fruit, a different cake every day), but vegetables are served on request (tomatoes, cucumbers). Rice and corn waffles for people on a gluten-free diet were a nice gesture. Very good communication, e.g. precise directions on how to get from the airport to the guesthouse

The ocean view room has a window onto the shared terrace, which can be a bit disturbing in the evening. Moreover, the room is quite dark.
