We had such an amazing stay at ASPA studios. The location was perfect for a walk into town, but also as a base for day trips for hiking around Madeira. We used their free parking spot which was super handy, street parking was also easy to find and free in the evenings. I've never experienced better customer service at any hotel or establishment that I've been at before. Every single staff member was genuinely warm, friendly and helpful, going above and beyond their duties. They made me feel like the most important guest at the hotel, and I guess every other guest had the same impression. The rooftop terrace and balcony was perfect for unwinding in the evening. Breakfast was extremely delicious with great coffee. Beds were super comfy and huge, room was extremely spacious, and extremely clean. Don't hesitate to book this place!

Super accommodating hosts. When my friend could not sleep without AC, they brought us extra fans and set us up for a few nights in a cottage location elsewhere. Place was spotlessly clean, cleaned daily, soundproof windows, excellent buffet breakfast, lovely bathroom and shower with shampoo/ conditioner, soap, etc. Excellent location. There were also walking sticks which we used for our hiking, was a nice touch! Also you can tell the family who run this genuinely care - they really went above and beyond.

The street is loud at night if you have the windows open (but silent if you close them as they are totally sound proof). Also almost no places in Funchal have AC (apart from hotels) so just make sure a ceiling fan is fine for you. It was perfect for me anyway.

Excellent breakfast! Gadi is fantastic in every way! We chose to come because of vegan/organic etc. great fruit, muesli, yoghurt.

Coffee not so great. Would have been nice if there had been Rooibos tea. Kitchen equipment inadequate for much cooking. We would have preferred to cook more of our own meals. We don’t eat much fish, and virtually no meat! We ate no meat during our stay. So restaurants weren’t offering what we would have preferred to eat: cooking facilities not great.

The rooftop terrace is the absolute highlight of this property. The location is also a plus point, you can easily access to Funchal old town and many bars and restaurants are walking distance. Tasty breakfast with a lot of choices and many homemade items.

The studio was a bit dark and, with being 2 couples, the living room was basically converted into another bedroom - this was not very clear from the description. The breakfast room is also underground so there's no natural light coming in.

The staff :) Luisa is so welcoming and helped provide so many useful tips of what to do all around Madeira. It formed the basis of my itinerary :) Isabelle was so friendly and happy and did an awesome job cleaning. The girls providing breakfast made such a tasty, varied selection - so friendly, and enjoyed chats about travel and hiking too :) Parking was such a relief to have provided :)

The hotel is very clean, stylishly furnished with bold colors and beautiful wallpaper. We really enjoyed the breakfast, which was varied and healthy, with some dishes made in-house! The staff was friendly and helpful, making my boyfriend and me feel right at home! The terrace gave me some Frida Kahlo vibes! 🌸

If you sleep with the windows closed, you won't hear the noise from the street.

Nice and spacious studio, with a lot of light all day long. On top of that there's a beautiful terrace to admire the mountains and the city of Funchal. Location-wise it's perfect because it's from walking-distance to the city center, all while being in a rather quiet area. Last word to say that the breakfast proposed a vast array of options, with a lot of local products.

Not all the windows had big/thick enough curtains to cover the light in the morning so it was hard to sleep after the sun had come out.

The space of the flat, the helpful staff, the proximity to the centre, the services offered such as parking and daily cleaning, the common spaces and how quiet they were, the king size bed, and the kitchen with a lot of ustensils.

2 bars down the road a bit noisy during the night but I was personally not bothered with ear plugs. The kitchen is also lacking cooking oils and salt which we had to buy, but that's understandable.

Room is spacious and bed is comfortable. Studio has a small kitchen, and our assigned room had a very small bathroom with a window for ventilation. The hotel has 2 terraces on different levels, the top one with a very nice view of the city and the mountain behind Funchal. The location is very central and there are many restaurants and cafés within 5-10 minutes walking distance.

Summer is very warm and humid in Madeira and the hotel has no air conditioning. A ceiling fan helped make the very warm evenings more pleasant but the humidity cannot be mitigated. The hotel has no lift and LOTS of stairs, particularly the 2 flights down to the breakfast room. The breakfast itself is basic. The parking is not for the faint of heart ... with steep ramps, awkward angles (many many places to scrape your car very nicely). It's very dirty and a haven for cockroaches but is off the street and secure.

The staff was super friendly and supportive as the location is really good. We had the chance to use the free parking and it was a great solution.

Our bedroom door was just next to the common terrace and in the evening we had to ask other guests to be quiet so we could sleep - that was a bit uncomfortable. Perhaps the room is more suited for people who like to party and stay up late (past 23h).
