We loved the apartment and it was equipped well for our needs.It was a good central location convenient for shopping and great restaurants. The communication was very good with the staff and they were quick to respond when I had a question or a need such as a taxi to the airport which they do offer. Loved the historic nature of the apartment and access to the Blandy Wine facilities.

The fact that there is no elevator may be a challenge to some to carry large luggage up a few flights but we made out okay. Took us a minute to understand the garbage and recycling room experience.

Location was excellent right in centre of Funchal. Everything you needed as a home from home, beds were very comfortable. Lovely that you left us some wine as a welcome gift thank you.

Some of the curtains were not all secured to the hooks on the rails, heater in lounge was very noisy, the one in garden facing bedroom didn't work at all but there was a radiator provided instead. Chair on balcony had a hole in it and only enough for 3 people when there were 4 of us. Just little attentions to details really.

Very large, well presented and furnished apartment with everything needed for a family. The kitchen and large dining table were perfect for eating-in. The laundry with washing machine was super handy, with Madeira's warm climate allowing clothing to air dry easily. The location is superb - central, easy 5-10 minute walk to everywhere in old Funchal. A few minutes walk to shopping centre and supermarket.

The apartment is a little warn, with very creaky floors. Some of the decorative window trimmings have come off.

It was beautiful and so spacious. The outside deck was small but nice with a view. Had laundry and everything you needed in the kitchen including an espresso machine.

It was on the 3rd floor with lots of steps. The rooms were labeled with the name of wine but we never were told that just room 3. The shower was broken but they replaced it quickly. In the living room there was door stop that needs to be moved. My husband nearly broke his toe on it.

Very good location, huge apartment with great atmosphere. Kitchen is perfectly equipped and very clean. Two big rooms, big living room. There is also a small utility room with the window (!) and small sink (!), you can wash, dry or iron your clothes there - unexpected and very appreciated.

Bathroom is big, but old, it could be clean, but still you can feel that. But from the point of overall great feeling from the entire nicely renovated old building and apartment, it is not worth to focus on it, enjoy the rest :)

This apartment was large, comfortable, well resourced and in the most wonderful location for flower festival, music festival and a short walk to reach the old town and other cultural areas. Close to wonderful restaurants and easy access to busses, taxis and cable cars to view the island. Overlooks a beautiful municipal garden. Would highly recommend.

No complaints at all but would advise that there is no lift and if you cannot climb stairs easily then not probably not for you.

A place with soul...Perfect climate of Funchal.For People who dont know that older>better i do not recommend.If you prefer sunny aparts like a small flat on polish-warsaw suburbs, that s not the place for you.If want to fully connect with FNC thats definitely your place.Full reccomendation to all urban people.We ll be back for sure.

The property is in a perfect location. It is very large , with original features of the building . Bathroom is huge with good shower and water pressure, has his and hers sink. Bedroom has aircon

The main issue we had were the extremely creaky floor boards throughout the apartment. It was so bad that it gets on your nerves. Every step you take makes a very loud creak. If you need to go to bathroom in the middle of the night you can’t do this without waking your partner . I understand the owners want to keep the integrity of the original building by keeping the original floors but I feel that I wouldn’t stay again unless the issue were fixed .

Location was great - across from the beautiful Municipal Gardens. Three blocks from a large Grocery store (Pingo Dulce). Fairly quiet street. Close to many restaurants, taxi stand, and attractions. We were in the Bual Apartment which is on the second floor with 4 small balconies that look out over the gardens (across the street). The balconies are not deep, so you can stand on them but not put a chair on them). The apartment is very large (especially the living room and master bedroom). It had two bedrooms (king sized bed and two twin/single beds), a long hallway, living room (with a comfortable sleeper sofa (but the leg was broken on one side - we just put some books under it and it was sturdy), one bathroom with a large shower, a dining room, kitchen, and laundry room (washer only). There were 3 air conditioners (both bedrooms and the living room). I'm a light sleeper (in the room with 2 twin beds) and the air conditioner made a loud noise when it cycled on and off. I had to shut it off and sleep under a thin sheet at night - otherwise I would be startled awake every 5 minutes. The rest of my family did not seem to have this problem with their air conditioners (but they are deep sleepers). After checkout on the last day we wanted to leave our bags somewhere on the property to have one more day to tour Funchal, but the staff at Blandy's Wine Museum/store didn't seem to have any idea what to do with the bags. The staff were friendly and spoke English well, but maybe no one had ever asked them to store their luggage before? The property is fairly large with several buildings, many rooms, and lots of closets, but they did not offer any place to keep our bags. I found a place on my own (in a room at the bottom of the apartment stairs) which worked for us, but I cannot promise that is was secure, as staff or other guests could gain access to the room. We lucked out and all of our stuff was there when we returned.

Loud air conditioner in one bedroom. People in the master bedroom had to walk through the living room to get to the hallway/bathroom. Would not be a problem for some people, but we had someone sleeping on the living room sofa.

The place is enormous. 3 floors, literally. So it was an amazing suprise, it is an old building with unique atmosphere. Very very well equiped kitchen, it looked truly cosy and clean. Beds were comfortable and the views from bedrooms and terrace were stunning. And the location is great too, we walked from the building straight to the Carneval on the main Street. One of my best accomodations ever.

That we didn’t stay longer :-(.
