Clean and cosy apartment with a balcony where one can enjoy breakfast in the morning sun, within walking distance to the centre of Funchal. My room wasn't facing the street, so there was no traffic noise at night. Very comfy bed. Reliable wifi. Easy check-in with an access-code for the main door, so even if you'd arrive at a late hour, it's no problem getting in.

Weird smell coming from the drains, however it improved with repeated flushing. Walls are not soundproof, so you can hear every step of the other guests in the house. Balcony view (2nd floor) was mostly covered by the nextdoor building/a construction site, so it wasn't as nice as in the pictures (although you can also see a bit of Funchal in the background). No mosquito nets.

Excellent location only a few minutes walk from the heart of the old town and no real hills! Quiet at night and comfortable bed. Secure entrance with key code and separate key for own apartment. Small kitchen, well equipped for two people - not that we used it as there are plenty of cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance for breakfast and dinner. Lots of very hot water for the shower. A decent sized balcony which gets sun in the morning. We would stay here again.

Although the rubbish was removed and towels were replaced every couple of days it would have been good to have the bed linen changed at least once during our 6 night stay.

The location was great! A two minute walk from a shopping centre / supermarket and five minutes from the marina. The apartment was private and in a quiet area which was lovely and the kitchen came with basics like salt and pepper.

It was lacking a few essentials like hand soap and some coffee would have been nice. The apartment was quite cold some nights and there was no thicker blanket provided. The inside patio door wouldn’t lock, even though the terrace is securely fenced, it still made me a little uneasy as a solo traveller. There were lots of noises from other apartments which woke me up throughout the night. There were also quite a lot of ants in the kitchen.

Vila Alegria is in a very good location on the characterful back streets, very close to get to good restaurants, shops and other amenities. The room was clean and airy with simple decor and the bed very comfortable. It was nice to have the communal roof terrace for viewing the city. The check in process was easy. We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment.

We would have liked to have a caffatierre in the kitchenette, but we went and bought one and left it there for the next guests. A few chairs on the communal roof terrace would be great.

The accomodation is wonderfully equipped, the bed is wonderfull, there is a small kitchen and bathroom and a pretty balcony. Everything is clean and fresh, the room has definitely been renovated, all the furniture is solid. There is a mall nearby, the host leaves tips on where to get coffee and food and some recommendations on entertainment. The internet connection is pretty good so I didn't have issues with any of the work calls and other activity. A lot of historical places and other entertainments are pretty close, the bus stop is in thee minutes.

It's a bit noisy since a lot of cars are passing by to get to the central street however this can be easily resolved with a pair of earplugs.

Also a big shopping center with supermarket + There is everything needed for a small apartment: bathroom, kitchen facility etc + Easy check-in and check-out, even late in the evening using door code - no troubles + Nice balcony

- The apartment is small: the room is enough but no extra space, the same for bathroom and kitchen. It can be not comfortable for big people - A really nice view is only from the top floor. The lower apartment has a good view but only in one direction, the other view is blocked by the wall of the house opposite

Good and nice location, everything that you need is within 5-15 minutes walk: SAM and aerobus stop nearby, supermarket in 5 minutes, Marina, CR7 museum, parks, etc. The apartment is well suitable for a long stay: a small kitchen with a microwave oven, a fridge, glasses, racks for clothes, etc. Nice balcony. Proper working air conditioning system, good cleaning.

Not really good sound and noise insulation of the room. But generally the hotel is located in a quiet area. It would be good to have spare shower gel in the bathroom in addition to already installed one. My gel was run out on Saturday, and I didn't know whom should I ask to refill it.

Everything in the apartment was absolutely fine - location close to the city centre, parking spots in the street at the apartment, the apartment was clean, spacious, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, there was a balcony with a table and two chairs where we could spend time etc.

The street is very noisy even in the evening/night. We got used to it, but in the beginning, it was annoying.

Great communication from the hosts. Everything is well organised and prepared before arrival. Professional cleaning service, a lovely lady! A few minutes away from a big supermarket and bus stop to the airport.

The street on which the apartment is located is very noisy. So sometimes you need to sacrifice fresh air and close the windows. But there’s airco :)

Very central location. Really comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed the balcony. Busy street but we like people watching and live on a main road so no problem for us. Would recommend as so close to everything

Only problem is that electric card is on key so have to lock door at night in dark but only a minor nuisance
