Sleek room, very comfortable bed, friendly staff, and great breakfast!

The room had motion sensor lights at the foot of the bed that kept turning on all night when my wife or I would move. We didn't know how to turn them off and they woke me up a bunch of times.

Great location; Free parking for a car; Water fill up station in the hallway; Nice breakfast; Beautiful and comfy pool area; Good air conditioning in the rooms; Helpful staff.

Just so you know that all balconies in the hotel are like 50 cm wide, where you can step out and look around. And that's it. Not real balconies. I saw one customer's review about quite expensive drinks in the bar. I don't mind paying a bit more for a drink in a nice place. Anyway, we ordered 2 Ponchas in the bar, and paid 17€. Anywhere in the dowtown you pay up to 3,5 euros for one Poncha. I'll let you do the math.

Property is very well located near the centre of Funchal, much nearer than most of the other 4/5 star hotels in the hotel zone which are both further away and typical up a few steep hills. It had excellent amenities such as great restaurant, pool, spa treatments and attentive staff. Breakfast buffet was top notch. We were also upgraded to a Junior Suite. The hotel itself backs onto a shopping centre, which proved extremely useful for picking up last minute holiday bits (sun cream, socks, pharmacy etc)

Some parts of the hotel were showing their age; bed creaking, USB ports not working. But very minor as we had a great week and slept well. Our room sadly didn’t face the sea, but given the very hot weather this wasn’t an issue.

The staff including Managers were very pleasant, accommodating and spoke perfect english. We travelled with our family of seven using 3 rooms. The breakfast was fantastic offering, cereal, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, coffees and my favourite freshly squeezed orange juice to name a few items. Our rooms were very comfortable and spacious. Separate large rooms for both the toilet and walk in shower. We had a great view of the sea port where the cruise ships were docked. The Vine has the best location in Funchal and is an easy walk to many attractions. This was my second visit to the Vine.

We didn't like that we had to leave to return home.

Breakfast was an amazing spread; I particularly enjoyed the freshly squeezed OJ, the crepes, caramelised bananas, the eggs to order and the cold buffet area. The fruit was so fresh and delicious. The staff go above and beyond for patrons; to the point that a receptionist fixed the handle on my suitcase by inserting a small screw which was missing, when we left our bags for 10mins before departure - a small gesture that made a massive difference - thank you!

The pools could have stood to be warmer given the time of year and the spa area needs some work to freshen it up and make it more inviting, but overall, we loved staying here and would love to come back.

Room was smaller than expected, booked a suite but was more like a large hotel room based on my experience (though it was my first time in Madeira so not sure how large an average hotel room would be) Balcony was tiny, no room to sit outside which was my expectation when booking Toilet and shower were too open and no locks on the door, no privacy at all The room was very noisy at night due to the location of the hotel being on a main road

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great, close to the sea and many shops as well as the old town area and there is a supermarket on the lower level of the shopping mall which is open till late. The pool area upstairs was great. We had some lovely food and cocktails there. The jacuzzi wasn't working when we were there however. The spa downstairs is very basic. The rooms are quite dull and our shower & bathroom door (one in the same) did not close properly. Both the bathroom and toilet area got soaked when showering as the drainage was slow too. There was a lot of black mould in a couple of areas. Overall I probably wouldn't return to the hotel, for a 5* we expected a lot more especially compared to past experiences in hotels.

This place is seriously impressive with a modern and stylish vibe, and it really feels like they’ve thought of everything. The rooms and decor are stunning, but what really stood out was the staff. From reception to the restaurant team and housekeeping, everyone went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. On top of that, the location couldn’t be better. It’s smack in the new town, just a few minutes’ walk to the marina and coast, and only 10 minutes from the old town. You’re right in the middle of everything, which makes it so easy to get around and enjoy the area. Top marks all around!

The pool could be bigger. Also isn't heated.

This hotel is wonderful. It was the second time I stayed in this hotel and it was as amazing as I remembered it. The rooftop pool is wonderful. Staff are very attentive. Most of them remembered our breakfast and drinks choices. The lighting system in the room was a bit complicated and we had we technical issues but each time we had a problem staff reacted super quickly.

Probably the comfiest hotel bed we've ever slept in - the quality of the sheets, matress and pillows was incredible. we got a free upgrade to a suite, the room was enormous and beautiful, with a freestanding bathtub. Breakfast was delicious, the hotel design was very fun. Beautiful rooftop pool and bar. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Would love to go back!

Just a few small things - I think one of the pools on the roof was supposed to be a jacuzzi, but they were both very cold. The jacuzzi in the spa was also not warm enough. The Happy Hour every day was super nice but the nuts tasted old and the Aperol Spritz didn't taste of Aperol at all.
