I had booked last minute as I decided to spend the long weekend with my friend, and because of that, I had booked 3 separate rooms for the duration of my stay BUT the wonderful ladies worked to ensure that not only did I stay in the same room, but they upgraded my room to include the private bathroom! :'-) I appreciate them going above and beyond for me. Obrigada!! They gave me a lamp as the bedroom light wasn't working, and that had an extension lead with more sockets for me to plug in my devices to charge. The bed was so comfortable! My view was of the Church and old town. The breakfast! Yes, it was 2 x bread rolls, butter and jam but they were the nicest rolls and jam! Coffee wasn't too strong - just the way I like it. Loved how we were right in the middle of the old town, Funchal. Perfect! We happen to go during the flower festival and I LOVE flowers! Super clean place.

In the middle of the city centre, easy the reach everything. Not the most modern rooms, they're a little bit old fashioned, simple, but cheap&clean. Fast&flexible checkin/out. They provide clean towels, simple breakfast every day (from 8:00 to 10:00). If I come back as a solo traveller to hike&attend on all day tours, I'll definitely choose this accomodation again.

Noise from the other building. Breakfast from 7.30 would be nice, because hiking tours starts from 8-9:00.

The hostel is very accessible to all,walking distance from restaurant , grocery and tourist spot , The price is affordable and included the breakfast , the staff is very kind I spent only one day and I arrived early so I'm asking to leave my luggage.. but she make me check in early and the next day I have a early flight so I have breakfast for advance . I want to come back this place .. the location is very good and I like it all .

I stayed in this guesthouse on 09. January on my first day in Funchal so that I could start my Caminho Real 23 walk right from Funchal Cathedral which is just outside. For a bit of privacy, I chose a private room with an en-suite bathroom. The room is decent, clean, spacious with a large bathroom and two large beds and all for 35 euros a night including breakfast, it certainly exceeded my expectations. The location is great, right in the middle of Funchal's old town! The reception was friendly (he'll hand you the TV remote when you check in :) I didn't have breakfast as I have to get up early for the walk. However, the breakfast lady poured enough coffee and milk into my thermos and insisted I bring some bread and jam for the road. Super sweet of her. Don't be surprised that this guesthouse is in an old building on the top floor, sharing with other establishments on the lower floors. The lift works well and I find it somehow charming and authentic to be in a non-touristy old building.

A word of warning to light sleepers though, the acoustics can be a problem at night due to other guests closing doors.

This hotel is right in the city centre, perfect location. We did not expect much for such low price but it turned out to be a good value for money. Beds are comfy and breakfast is included! Indeed it is continental breakfast with 2 rolls (fresh and fluffy!), butter, jam and a hot drink (tea, coffee, hotchoco), however they are normal quality and enough to start your day. I also need the mention the lady who served us at breakfast and reception, se was super lovely and helpful - when we arrived earlier, she tried to get us a room which is ready so we could go up. We were also be able to leave our bags in the laundry room until we left to the airport. Overall great experience, perfect for a short stay.

The rooms are a bit worn, especially the bathrooms look awful, but still look clean.

Don't expect high end quality, but it's simple, clean and comfortable - perfectly adequate for the price paid and will do the job if you just need a base for exploring the island. Location is great, centre of Funchal, just minutes away from bus stops to all the main routes around the island. Plenty of restaurants and shops within a short walking distance too.

Breakfast is included in the price and as other reviewers mentioned, very basic - just bread (fresh), butter and jam plus some coffee/tea and juice. Won't get you filled up, but is enough to get the day started.

Hostel is still living the 80s, which honestly was a vibe. It is located right in the center of Funchal, so it’s a great base for enjoying the city. Highly recommended to people looking for a cheaper accommodation. Both room and shared bathrooms were kept very clean. Breakfast was simple but made for a great start of the day when you don’t want to be bothered.

Location close to Cathedral so easy to locate. Lift was a major plus.. Staff were friendly with me though most spoke only Portuguese. Breakfast was ample for me as the rolls were fresh and huge. Right in city centre

TV did not work and room became cold at night. A kettle in side room would be nice but cleaning women helped me use the kettle in kitchen at 7pm

Comfortable bed. Stable and fast enough internet connection. The room equipment is basic, but definitely clean. Efficient checkin and checkout. Perfect location in the very center of Funchal, next to the cathedral - for some this may be a problem, but in the city center you can't expect super quiet places.

it is worth improving the soundproofing of the doors in the room, fortunately there were not many customers and everyone behaved quite calmly

This pension is in a perfect location, next to the Cathedral, a little bit old, but it is clean and some rooms have wonderful views! Some furniture is also a little bit old but just lovely.. Good value*

I might be wrong, but it seems the elevator only works until 9 pm.. So late in the evening I had to use a stairway
