This is our first visit to Madeira and it went beyond our expectations. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful from the start, from the receptionist to the hotel staff, caterers, waiters, waitresses, cleaners alike. The location of the hotel was just what we wanted, not too busy and a good range of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel restaurant offers excellent food but a good idea to book a reservation. Our room was located on the ground floor with a balcony overlooking Camara de Lobos bay. It had a large bed, excellent shower, room enough for clothes, (if you have long dresses they won't hang up as the wardrobe has two shelves lower down, I hung mine in the bathroom off the shower) a fridge which was very useful to keep the water cold, a TV, a very good hair dryer which I was relieved about as this is the first holiday I haven't taken my own and a small table and two chairs on the balcony. Included in the service was a bottle of water each day and tea and coffee facilities. Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towel were supplied when needed. Everything we would have wanted. We hope to visit again in the New Year, would definitely recommend.

We had such a lovely holiday at Pestana Churchill Bay Hotel I couldn't think of anything I didn't like about it. The locals were also very friendly and welcoming as you walked around the bay.

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly and provided very good service. They were particularly kind when they found out it was our wedding anniversary. The hotel is in a lovely spot by the bay, which was fairly busy in the day time, but was quiet come the evening. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The infinity pool was lovely as it looked over the village and bay. There was never a problem getting a sun lounger, which was great. The food in the restaurant, and in the main part of the hotel was very good and well presented.

The restaurant didn't always have available all that was offered on the menu eg steak for the steak dishes. A little more variety in the accompaniment section would give more choice as well. However we enjoyed the meals we ate at the restaurant, and the food was very good, as were the views from the restaurant.

Wonderful location looking over the bay. Staff were wonderful both at the reception and in the bar and restaurants. The hotel is close to amenities such as restaurants, especially good for seafood, bars and shops. Buses and taxis readily available. Brilliant sunsets to be had here. The bay and its local area are kept spotlessly clean as to from what we had seen is the rest of Madiera.

Did not really appreciate the offer of a free drink in the bar, by two representatives, and then the offer of a free trip/tour/experience if you only sit for ninety minutes being shown a presentation. I can only guess this would lead to the unbeatable offer of a timeshare. We politely refused the offer which was politely accepted. We did enjoy the free drink though.

The location at the little harbour was very beautiful. Its less busy as Funchal but with all facilities like restaurants, shops etc. Also the weather is better because situated af the more sunny side of the isle. The staff was very friendly and helpful in a personal and kind way.

Some aspects were outdated like the pool. Some little swimmingpool tiles broke or were missing during our stay. Due to fires in the montains a few days we had ashes flowing around at the tables where dinner and lunch was served.

Very nice hotel, with great location. Not only we had the view of the ocean but the location was also great as there were many restaurants around to get food without going by car. Grocery store and pharmacy were also very close. The hotel was very nice, so was having breakfast on the terrace next to the pool with a view of the ocean. Staff at the reception was super nice and helpful. Our room was nice and clean. This town is also a great location as it is not so busy but it is also a convenient location to travel from.

Our room was in the main building - which is the nicer part of the hotel, however we did not have balcony and the room did not really have many places to hang our stuff like wet towels, swimsuits or clothes after a hike. So this was one thing we were really missing. Also the breakfast in my opinion did not have enough options for people with food allergies. I am allergic to milk (not lactose but milk protein) and I did not have many options for breakfast.

Comfortable, spacious, plenty sockets and USB charging points, fantastic breakfast, beautiful view, small swimming pool with view, helpful reception staff

Cleaning staff forgot twice to replace towels they had taken away. Parking is worth thinking about in advance. Nearby open car park, 2min walk,costs €1/h 8am-8pm (Mon-Fri I think) but only takes coins and can be busy or you can pay €12/day with the hotel. Underground carpark 5min walk from the hotel, once again €1/h by coins only or €7.5/day with the hotel. There is often space on level 2, level 3 is near empty and the car doesn’t feel like an oven when you get in.

A good place to stay outside the capital Funchal. Beautiful setting right down by the harbour. Excellent staff and comfortable room with a small balcony overlooking the harbour and town. Both bus service and taxis to go where you want. Good restaurants and bars in the vicinity.

As with almost all places in Madeira, be prepared for hills.

The ground floor was directly next to a road (busy with visitors not traffic) so not that private when on the balcony or door open

Perfect location in a lovely small ex fishing village with lots of eating options very close by

We were in a superior room on 2nd floor and were disturbed at times by furniture being moved around in the restaurant above us. Floors on the 1st floor would have less privacy

Hotel situated in a perfect place in the heart of the city. Great view from the room, very nice breakfast and very friendly staff. Everything was absolutely perfect. We had problems with landing in Madeira arriving a few days later however hotel didn’t have any problem in rebooking our stay without additional cost. This was amazing attitude
