This is a unique property, set within the walls of an ancient and magnificent monastery. The hotel is very good but if you want perfect luxury and air-con etc maybe stay away. It requires an understanding and appreciation of its setting to get the best from it. Do allow time to visit the rest of the building, including the incredible monastery church (its free)

The rooms are a bit quirky, and, as others have said, the room I had had only a clear glass wall between the bedroom part and the bathroom. Would leave nothing to the imagination if two of you share. When you arrive the hotel is a little difficult to find - just walk into the monastery entrance and keep going!

Excellent stay just 10min from Braga in a fantastic monastery. The place has less than 20 rooms and the hotel takes only a small part of the old monastery. The monastery was recently recovered and worth a visit - free for hotel guests. The hotel renovation is amazing and everywhere you look you notice the attention to detail by the architect. As a bonus, the monastery as large farm and gardens that are excellent for a walk.

Didn't like the pillow. Maybe there are alternatives at the reception. Following the GPS doesn't work very well. Better to follow the main road to Mire de Tibaes and then the road straight to the Monastery.

Friendly welcome with people at the front desk speaking english. The ambience of the inside beautiful but simple decorated. Everything light and bright in room. Of course the walks in the garden a treat. As one who stayed at the guesthouse we could tour the monastary museum for free. Quiet a delight. The quietness and sereneity is priceless. Certainly a perfect place to get away from the huzzle and buzzle and stress!

The gardens were kept up but we saw a lot of weeds and unkept places. It copould be that this how they keep their vineyard organic? Even the sitting area next to the breakfast room outside, could have been cleaner and the flowers more kept up. We wish they would have had more benches to rest and enjoy the view. As you drive up to the monastary there would be so many possibilities to set up small benches where you have a nice view of Braga. Since my husband is mobility impaired and needs to sit, ever so often, we couldn't take longer walks. I don't know if it is at all possible if you are in a wheel chair:(

We didn't expect it to be a museum with an absolutely stunning huge garden where we spent the whole morning the next day after arrival. We had booked just an ordinary hotel, and what we got instead exceeded the bravest expectations of ours! The modern design of the room after restauration of the convent is in true harmony with the ancient arquitecture and the idea of asceticism of the monks, though quite comfortable and cozy. A tour around the old monastery after breakfast was very interesting, and the long walk around the gardens with lakes and sanctuary was just breathtaking and extreemely engaging. We even cancelled our further plans for the sake of the longer stay in this amazing place. Thank you Braga and the hotel owners for this wonderful pleasant surprise which made our day!

Very quiet, suitable for an old monastery. Adequate breakfast, not very diverse, but still good quality stuff. The room was simple but very comfortable! Great walking routes around the river and agricultural fields.

When returning after 6pm it is closed, it is necessary to ring a bell and it doesn't always work.

This is not a typical hotel. A monk’s cell in a former monastery has been converted into a modern hotel room with WIFI. Behind a glass partition, you can see the stone window seat where a monk would have worked by daylight hundreds of years ago. The bathroom wall is glass, so light from the bathroom illuminates the rest of the room—there is a curtain, though, if privacy is desired. All in all a unique experience.

Restaurant was not open the day we were there, so we travelled into town to buy food at a local store

The staff was amazing and so helpful. Our room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels. The breakfast was lovely too. Beautiful place to stay

Its about 15min drive away from braga so would definitely suggest hiring a car or it's about 11 euro taxi fare one way. We was lucky enough to have a hire car

The property is nice and calm, the staff is great and made us feel more then welcome. The garden is unbelievably beautiful.

The rooms are not fully equipped for longer stays but we could always go to the staff for anything we needed and they helped us, gladly

The link from booking.com to google maps doesn't work for this property, it tried to direct us via a rear entrance via a hill and road which is not in use. Best to key in the exact address.

The monastery is a beautiful retreat and holy place with a great staff and on the grounds of a national historic site with accessible grounds and access to the church. Was pleased with the quiet time spent there. Its not a commercial site
