Beautiful view. Fabulous breakfast. Very nice staff. Lovely comfortable room facing the river with a lovely patio . Wonderful food. One of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Can use hop on hop off bus to Porto for sightseeing up til 6 p.m.

No easy cost effective public transportation to get there from train station or airport. Too pricey for everyday but good for a splurge or special occasion. We did the gastronomic experience and purchased the wine pairing package to accompany it but were disappointed that the first 3-4 courses of the gastronomic experience omits the wine pairing which is already pretty pricey and they really should. It seemed not quite transparent advertising to make you buy extra beverages during these initial courses. The gastronomic wine pairing package should be integrated the entire gastronomic experience as that was how it was presented on line.

The hotel itself, with the location in Gaia overlooking the Douro River and Porto in the background, was just beautiful! What made our stay so wonderful though, was the staff at the hotel. From our first contact with the bellman (I failed to get his name), to our check-in with Gustavo Moreira at the front desk, as well as everyone else we came in contact with, it’s difficult to describe just how positive and engaging everyone was. A special note about Gustavo . . . I can’t say what all of the reasons for this were, but both my wife and I felt an instant connection with him from the get go, and we knew we had found a new Portuguese friend when checking in with him. Lovely, just lovely! So many at the hotel had such a positive energy about them ~ There was Ana, a waitress and hostess in the restaurant. Also Matilde (I think that was her name), a young waitress in the breakfast buffet. Since we were there leading into Palm Sunday, she was sharing about her Easter traditions in the small village where she grew up in eastern Portugal. Her eyes were so bright, you could see she had such joyful hope for her future. I also failed to get the name of the woman who escorted us to our room. She appeared to be a manager near the front desk, and hers was such a positive and welcoming energy that lifted our spirits. When we were checking out, there were two bellmen, the one wearing a jacket with long tails was discussing a sports trade with me that our hometown Dallas Mavericks had made, when trading Luka Doncic to the Lakers for AD. We had some laughs about that, and I found both of the bellmen to be exemplary souls in how to be the first contact at an upscale hotel. You know, my wife and I have contemplated whether we might one day leave our home in the USA, to try living abroad, to see what that would feel like.

Everything, and everyone, was wonderful, no complaints whatsoever!

The Yeatman has a fantastic location in Porto. The historic district of Gaia, technically, but overlooking many of the city’s monuments, including the Don Luis I bridge. We stayed in a room with a balcony which overlooked said view. Waking up seeing birds fly over the city was truly magical. The Yeatman’s 2 michelin star restaurant was incredible, and the breakfast was amazing.

The stay was incredible. However there can be some improvements made where staffing is concerned. 90% are attentive and show real initiative in providing us with what we wanted as guests. However some were not as forthcoming to help as others, got food orders wrong, and came across as rather inexperienced. Finally, while at the pool on Monday 3rd June, guests behind us were smoking marijuana which was not pleasant. We felt awkward saying anything at the time because it would have been obvious who made the complaint. However, I feel if staff were more attentive at the pool could have prevented it by being more present and realising such was happening. Those are minor issues and overall the staff were amazing.

Reception and staff experience was excellent. Room comfort and view was first class. Hotel amenities were excellent. One of the best hotel stays in my life.

Access to the river walk and old town required walking down lots of stairs. We opted to take a taxi to return to the hotel that got lost, affecting our overall experience. A hotel shuttle available to reach the main tourist areas would have made our experience much better. Focus seems to be the hotel experience rather than the Porto experience.

Breakfast is good, room is beautifully decorated . Coffee is a bit diluted though, second day is better. The Gastronomic restaurant experience is great. The menu is creative, each course is decorated like a piece of art work. Very friendly and professional staff. The chance to visit the restaurant kitchen and observe how the chef works is a bonus! Overall the team made a very good impression and truly enjoyed dinner experience.

That Americano coffee needs some improvement

This was one of the best hospitality experiences I've had. I worked as a sommelier for many years so I have been fortunate enough to experience quite a bit in this industry but the Yeatman checks all boxes. The views are amazing and the facilities are high quality. The staff was the most notable aspect. All members were extremely attentive, caring, and genuinely invested in your experience. Truly effortless experience.

Having the luxury of a pool was a huge bonus. Our room was so comfortable, I slept so well during our 3 night stay. The michelin star restaurant had the best wine pairing we have ever had with a tasting menu. The welcome drink and the staff were so helpful and friendly.

There was a large group of British tourists (whom we originally thought were a wedding party but turned out they were just on a holiday) who took over the pool area for the entire weekend and were drunk & disorderly on both days we went to the pool to the point we had to have several conversations with staff as they completely ruined our experience by the pool which is why we booked this hotel. Staff dealt with it, but not efficiently enough. They continued to serve this group alcohol even though some of them struggled to stand.

This hotel is exceptional; the staff are professional and nice, and everything is clean and arranged properly. The rooms are huge and have amazing views. I was upgraded to a superior room, and the view from the terrace was breathtaking. I spent 70% of my time in Porto/Gaia just sitting on that amazing terrace. The room service was delicious and high quality, nothing cheap here. The Spa had great options. I loved the city, but the main reason I might come back is the hotel.

Absolutely everything was brilliant, the staff are amazing, could not be more helpful. The whole experience was just fantastic. The Yeatman has just become my favourite hotel ever. The food was superb, service was marvelous. I cannot praise the hotel quality, staff and facilities highly enough. We will be returning again before Christmas. I so recommend this hotel to everyone, an experience not to be missed.

Nothing, everything was perfect

The view from the lobby and from our room was exceptional. The breakfast is very good (great scrambled eggs, sunny side up eggs, great bread and pastries) . The room was spacious and bright. The front line staff was ALWAYS friendly (housekeeping, restaurant, bellman, concierge). Concierge was very helpful.

The room smelled cigarette smoke. Nothing was done after signaling it several times. Staff supervisors were not always responsive but front line staff was ALWAYS friendly (housekeeping, restaurant, bellman, concierge). Room service menu on QR code is not the most user friendly for such a hotel.
