The customer service at the desk and the service staff was excellent. Everyone was very nice and any requests were taken care of immediately.

The hotel is obviously older. The room was very dated and the wallpaper was peeling, the fridge either didn't work or froze our food/drinks. There were nail holes in the wall where there may have been a picture hanging. I think the most worrisome part of the room was that the curtains did not go all the way up to the window so there was a huge gap where an outside light was shining right into the room directly onto the first bed. It made it difficult to sleep. You could also see everyone walking by and it seemed anyone from the outside could see right into the room. Otherwise the towels and sheets were very clean and the beds were comfortable.

breakfast was great for the kids. pool is tiny but nice. really nice maintenance person who encouraged us to switch rooms since the heater didn’t work and for some reason water was all over the carpet by the door upon arrival. new room was fine. small rooms but clean. You can walk next door to In-n-out and chilis for food.

Check in time is enforced through there were rooms available. The only ice machine is on the fourth floor. pool towels are tiny. hot tub is Very tiny. bushes in front of rooms by the pool totally obscure view. carpets are Very dirty. Zero water pressure- super low flow in shower.

The location was convenient, easy to find, near places to eat, had a gorgeous beach view (see pic), and nearby lake and walking trails at the Laguna del Rey regional park. The free breakfast was easy, delicious, and had so many great options.

The pool and spa were visibly dirty. The spa had bunch of weird foam on the surface and it smelled like stinky feet so we got out. The elevator was very wet and slippery from people coming in without drying off from pool before entering. Perhaps consider a rug or other solution for patrons safety.

It was a great place for what we needed for just one night. I did not realise it was a motel type hotel with the doors straight outside onto the car park if you’re on the bottom floor. You need a car to get round into Monterey but a taxi is easy enough, it’s not walking distance! Great staff and clean place so would recommend it. In and out burger is just next door and that is delicious! Good breakfast too!

The breakfast provided and fresh coffee/hot water available all day/night was a plus. Warm pool and Jacuzzi was enjoyed as well.

Trash receptacles outside rooms could be larger and emptied on a more timely schedule. Lots of rooms with few trash receptacles in sight. Smoking by other guests not respectful of families with children.

Liked the location and on site parking included. A good value for a comfortable room, pool, hot tub and breakfast all included. Would stay here again.

The room with toilet and shower/tub was a bit small. The fan didn’t work so room got steamy with a shower. Otherwise, no complaints. I like Holiday Inn hotels and have stayed in several.

Awesome breakfast. walked around small lake next to property. Very nice walk. We were on our honeymoon. they provided apple cider and cake. Was very nice.

They did not give us a King bed as requested. Ended up with two beds. Not enough room to move around. For goodness sakes, it was our honeymoon! Find a way, staff!!!

I’m sure we would have known if we checked but the rooms all open essentially directly onto the street which is something we aren’t used to. Lift was broken at check in and was still unavailable at checkout after two nights. Noted this was a Saturday and Sunday night stay however given the essential nature of a lift I would have thought it would be rectified sooner.

We love how easy it was to book the hotel, and how the page show up-front the price of the room, percentages of taxes that would be added to book the room. Everything was transparent and upfront, unlike other hotels showed their prices so cheap, made us happy that we found the best rate, but when we proceeded to book it the price went up so high. Other hotels are not upfront with their rates. We appreciate a great deal that you provide complimentary breakfast, we love it. Thank you, Holiday Express Inn!

Very nice staff and clean rooms. Lots of variety for breakfast. Great location for getting to downtown Monterey (10 min drive). Free parking.

I wasn't expecting the motel style outdoor hotel, so I wish there was another level of security like a key card controlled gate around the property, or in the stairwells and elevator. The rooms were small and windows didn't open.
