I selected the hotel primarily because of its proximity to Kyoto Station, just a one-minute walk from the North Gate. My decision was based on a brief look at its appearance on Google Maps, as I didn't have much information about it beforehand. Upon arrival, I discovered that the hotel is relatively new, having been built in 2019. Although the room is compact, its modern and clean design appealed to me. One notable feature is the ability to store our two very large suitcases under the bed, a convenience not always available in older hotels.

There is an unusual high riser/step to get into the bathroom (higher than an average staircase riser), and we nearly tripped over a few times. So you need to be careful.

APA hotels are great. None of them have failed me in what they offer.

I left my smartphone (the only one able to make in-country calls) in a taxi. I asked the staff for help and they refused to even call the taxi company for me. They also did not advice me on what I could do. The people in Kyonavi helped me beautifully, unlike the guy at the counter that day. He did not even apologize, he just flat out said "no, I will not do that." Worst customer service I've ever seen in Japan.

This hotel located about two city blocks from the northeast exit of the Kyoto Station. This makes the hotel very desirable and convenient. The facility has a public bath and laundry, accessed via second floor entry. It has a very decent restaurant although we didn’t try. We ate all of our breakfast at Seattle’s Best cafe across the street. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The room is compact but there me can move around easily. The TV provides decent amount of entertainment and helpful info. Highly recommended.

The room can be a bit bigger and the lighting in the lobby warmer.

The location of the APA hotels is always great. Near train stations and city centres. The staff are always helpful and super polite. Clean and well maintained facilities. Including a small but low-cost self-service laundry facility for 500+200 Yen wash and dry which is a life saving for backpackers travelling light. The room, although small for European standards, is very cosy and has everything you need including a USB (type A) socket to charge your mobile device. All the lights and air conditioning controls are an arms reach from the bed.

The two things that weren't good and really need to be addressed are (a) a too soft and worn mattress with a relevant hollow spot; and (b) a winter duvet too warm for the room temperature even using the air conditioning a bit colder. Additionally, the ventilation of the WC could be less noisy. Also, the USB socket could be type C.

We stayed six nights. We were looking for something close to Kyoto station and a good price. The hotel was solid for our needs. You can see the station from the entrance of the hotel. We were in Kyoto to sightsee, and we simply used the hotels for sleeping. It did the job. The hotel had comfy beds, solid air conditioning and good amenities. The water pressure and the toilet were great.

The room is small…so if you are looking to spread out and fit space you won’t like it. But there were two of us in this room and we both had a large suitcase and a backpack, and we made it work easily. The washroom was also a bit small, but has everything you require.

The location was spot on - just a 5-minute walk to the station and right in the heart of shops and restaurants, making it super convenient. The room had a lovely big king-size bed and was well-stocked with all the toiletries you could possibly need. Breakfast was traditional Japanese, but there were also options like croissants, yoghurt, and granola for those who prefer a more Western start to the day. There’s no bar or lunchtime service, but with so much nearby, it wasn’t an issue. Being a large chain hotel, it did feel a little less personal, and the lifts got quite busy at peak times, especially during breakfast. Overall, a very comfortable and convenient stay.

The hotel is extremely conveniently located just across from the Kyoto train station so not only are arriving and departing from there extremely easy but also so is travel around the city. The bed was extremely large and I loved that the TV not only had bilingual NHK news but also had BBC and NHK world. The staff was very helpful with allowing us to Stow our luggage both before arrival and after departure.

The location is amazing, just next to station and very close to many attractions. Room was clean and there were many amenities available. Although rooms are generally small, this one had space under bed so we could put luggages under bed and have more space in the room.

Only thing i didn't like how hot the onsen water was. I had used previously onsen in different hotels and they are generally around 39-40 C but this one was was extremely hot and it made onsen experience a bit unpleasant, couldn't stay more than 10 minutes.

Really good location. Just a 2 minute walk from Kyoto Station. 7eleven is across the road. Starbucks, McDonald’s and Burger King are around the corner (if you want a chain) A food hall is nearby. Check in is through a machine, usual in Japan. Service was great, the reception has luggage hold service. The rooms are great size for Japan, and have the usual amenities. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom is great. We also had breakfast and it is very good with so many options. Was a great stay, only downside is the 10am checkout, that is a bit too early.
