Location! Right next to Kyoto Station. Staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the lobby ambience is great. Will definitely staty again if we have a chance to visit Kyoto again in the future.

Nothing major, but if I have to nitpick; the shower stall's design is really weird - instead of strictly allowing water to flow toward the drain, it also allows water to run pass the shower door into the toilet area every time you take a shower! So you end up having dirty soapy water spilling over to toilet area. We solved this problem by using a towel to soak up (block) excessive water. I just dont' get the design of it.

One of the best hotels we stayed in Japan. The hotel is so conveniently located, right next to Kyoto station. The hotel was clean and well facilitated. Room and bed was comfortable. Had a nice view of the train station, it was fun seeing the bullet trains going past. The windows were thick so we did not hear any noises at all. Slept very well. Since its so close to the station you can easily take the train or bus to anywhere you want to go in Kyoto!

This was more our fault because we didn't ask in advance, but just remember to go out the central exit of the train station if you're getting there by train to get to the hotel. Accidentally went out of the wrong exit and what was meant to be like a 2 minute walk ended up being a 15-20 minute walk.

What a great hotel! It is right next to the train station which made it easy to enjoy Kyoto and surrounding areas. I expected noise due to the location. I could see trains from my 10th floor room, but it was perfectly silent. I also loved the size of the room. It was huge, even by US standards. The bed was bigger than a king! This was the nicest & largest room of any of the hotels we visited during our vacation. If I ever return, I will stay there again. I actually wish I had stayed there for 3 weeks and just taken day trips. I also loved the hotel staff. They were guest oriented and worked to meet all our needs. I felt like they really cared about us! Finally, I loved having free bottled water. It was so nice to just ask for more water when we needed it. This saved us a bunch of $$$ during our stay.

I didn't love the idea of a wet room. Using the bathtub was easy, but I struggled with the shower. The water would always splash the blinds and make a big mess. (Why have blinds inside the bathtub??) Also, we're vegan. I wish this hotel restaurant would offer a vegan set. I understand veganism isn't popular in Japan, but there are so many international travelers at this hotel, having one meal would have encouraged us to eat there.

Great location adjacent to train station, bus station, new shopping centres, and great choices of food and drink. Nice modern but warm design. Fantastic buffet breakfast. Great evening buffet. Modern, spotless.

Challenge of finding right exit from train station - not hotel's fault! Challenge of finding street level elevator entrance (not signed from street entrance or escalator hall). Machine-driven check-in - impersonal and not technically reliable; also too structured when just arriving and looking for human welcome (though staff were very facilitating in helping customer use the machines). Very limited drawer storage space in bedrooms.

This place is a real gem. Perfectly located right next to the main station so getting anywhere in Kyoto or for arriving and departing is super easy. Lots of good restaurants and shopping an easy walk away. Hotel is surprisingly luxurious for the price with the rooms really nicely appointed. Staff were all delightful and helpful. And the breakfast is a must. In terms of quality of selection I can struggle to think of a better breakfast I’ve had in over 20 years of hotels (and I run one myself).

Check-in process is way too slow and complicated. Arriving and dealing with the receptionist is fine but then having to do it all again on the touch screen is a big waste of time. The system is not intuitive, it’s slow and complicated. The poor girl helping us kept apologising for it. It seems like something that was put in place for the hotel’s convenience rather than thinking of the guest experience. The hotel should ditch the screens and go back to allowing the lovely staff to help the guests as they clearly want to.

We loved our stay - gorgeous room with some small gifts when we arrived on our honeymoon. Perfect location for us in kyoto next to the station as we were also doing day trips to nara and osaka. Slightly further from gion but easy to access by bus or taxi. Plenty of good restaurants and konbinis nearby. The room felt very calm and beautiful. Loved having a separate tatami mat area and dressing table/mirror. All the amenities we needed and comfy pajamas in the room. We also used the in room massage which was good value

We arrived a couple if hours before checkin straight from the airport after a 14 hour flight and then train from Tokyo but were told we would have to pay quite a bit extra if we wanted early access to our room. They did at least have some dressing rooms available downstairs where we could freshen up.

The Century Hotel is great value for money, it has a much more luxurious vibe than you would guess given the affordable price. You can’t ask for a more convenient location for all transportation, shopping and dining needs, right next to Kyoto Station. The staff is very welcoming and professional, and the breakfast buffet had the largest, highest quality spread I have ever had at a hotel - it was amazing!

Our room faced the train tracks so we could hear the trains from our room, but it wasn’t too bad and nothing a little white noise couldn’t fix. For the convenience of the location it was a fair trade-off.

The location is stellar. Being right across from Kyoto Station made it so easy to get anywhere, whether it be by bus or local train, or bullet train to other cities. The hotel was also beautiful, with an elegant atrium hosting the lobby and nice, clean, spacious rooms. We stayed in a Superior Twin and had plenty of space for us and our luggage. The hotel staff was very nice, greeting us every time we entered, and asking if there was anything we needed, arranging spa services at the sister hotel next door, arranging luggage transport, and replacing a lost breakfast coupon free of charge. We were there for a total of seven nights and everything was top-notch the entire time.

Although it was nice that the shower, sink, and toilet were all separate in the room, the door was not opaque and there was a window into the shower, so it was challenging for one person to get ready/shower with enough light and not wake the other person. They could have at least made the door opaque instead of with saloon-style slats.

They had a great breakfast buffet with everything from drinks to hot and cold plates, both eastern and western to deserts and more. One of the best breakfast buffets I've ever seen. Their dinner buffet was expensive but also came with an ice cream bar. They also had a great bathroom setup with a separate wet room (whole room is a shower with a tub to one side) and separate sink / mirror and fancy electronic toilets with bidets. (Worth it). The location is great right next to the Kyoto Train station which is more like a massive Mall (most underground) / Transportation hub. Lots of stuff in walking distance and the tour busses pick up down the block.

There were no laundry machines in the building, nor a pool or fitness center. As with all the hotels we stayed at in Japan there were limited TV selections and only 1 English channel with limited news and articles. Don't expect to sit back and watch movies like you would in the US. Also we stayed on floor 10 and something unusual we noticed is that Floors 7-10 have vertically oriented casement style windows people can crank open or shut which open into the central light well above the roof of the eating area with no screens that are big enough (1.5 to 2 feet wide by 3 feet tall it looked like) for children and adults to fall through. I would encourage the hotel to put bars or some other safety features on them.

The location was great; it was next to the station, maybe a 5-7 min walk away. The hotel is very clean and well-maintained. The room was spacious for Japan, and the beds were comfy. I will consider staying there again.

We arrived 50 minutes earlier and were not allowed to enter the room. We were suggested to pay an extra 30% to get in earlier. On the contrary, as we left the room much earlier, shouldn't we request a discount instead?! They should be a bit more flexible about the earlier check-in policy.
