Absolutely lovely! Great location, friendly and relaxed staff. I was by myself, so stayed in a budget single room, but it was much bigger than expected! Comfortable bed, great location, beautiful view from the room, lovely breakfast. Very good value for money, can’t fault it. Very close to Kinder trails I came for.
I liked everything, but judging from some comments below- people don’t really understand the purpose of historical coaching inns! Yes, it is situated by a busy road, like it should. Did not bother me at all, slept with the window open and didn’t have any issues. Loved hearing the church bells, too.

We stayed for one night after visiting family in New Mills. The room was clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities. The bar was very friendly, both staff and locals. A good selection of beers available, plus football on big screens that evening. Breakfast was really good and filled us up for the day.
We had a room at the front, but the window was single glazed, so wakened by early morning traffic. I don't suppose a lot can be done about the window if the Lodge is in a conservation area. It would have been better if the curtains were blackout, as street lights and daylight kept the room light. There is limited parking at the Lodge, but we found plenty of free parking in the village across the road.

My room was very comfortable and I slept well during my stay. The cooked breakfasts each morning were excellent and very tasty. The location was pleasant and the village is very pretty.
It would have been useful to have a plug socket next to the bed and a shelf or bedside table near the bed. The parking is limited to 4 spaces so is a first come first served. I was unable to park on my first night but managed to get a space on my second and third nights.

Really lovely welcome, room decent size, good bathroom. The room was a bit cold, but the bed was super warm and comfy. Dog friendly. Delicious freshly cooked breakfast. Parking right outside the door. We were visiting friends in Buxton, so we're out in the evening, but we did manage a beer in the bar beforehand. Busy little place. We'll be back, already booked to come back in the summer just to explore the hills.
Dont rely on google maps, you'll end up in the hills!🤣 The room was a bit cold, even though the radiator was working. (Bathroom was warm, though). Roadworks outside made walking to and from hotel a maze! (Not their fault, though). Could hear neighbours talking, but that's probably a common thing in old hotels.

We like the Kinder Lodge because the rooms are very cosy. This is our third visit and each room we've stayed in has been very comfortable. This time we stayed in Room 6 which faces the main road and is above the pub's outside seating area. The main road was quite noisy, but after midnight the traffic subsided and it was very quiet until early next morning. The noise/talking from downstairs stopped once the pub closed around 11.30pm. We also really looked forward to Steve's well cooked breakfast which always set us up for the day.
Parking - there is very limited parking (enough for 4 or 5 vehicles at a push) so if you arrive later in the evening, you'll need to park in adjoining roads. We parked near the George hotel in Church Street and walked back to the Kinder Lodge. Stairs - this hotel is not suitable for those who struggle with stairs and definitely not for wheelchair users. The rooms are located at the top of the building and you have to climb 3 sets of very steep stairs to reach them. I have mobility problems, but am able to slowly manage these steps by crawling up the last lot to my room! But once I'm up there, I tend to stay put. Bath - there are no grab rails and I take my own bath mat to avoid slipping.

Comfie bed, lovely breakfast. Landlord was very accommodating. We had arranged a walk with an early start time. We were offered an earlier breakfast and were provided with a packed lunch. There was a bit of confusion around payment (in that we had overpaid for something) but this was picked up on (by the landlord) and we were refunded promptly. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Beautiful area also.
I wouldn't have described it as 'luxury' but it was certainly clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was great. the bed and bedding were great though the bed was a bit small. The decor is a bit dated but clean enough. Two bottles of water which was excellent. Husband enjoyed the bar being open late. Staff were all lovely and helpful.
Touch of mould on windowsill. No double glazing so it was very cold. The stairs were a nightmare but then it’s an old building, can’t be helped.

Great cozy and original lodge located in Hayfield with access to public transport, restaurants and hiking routes. Easy to find with amazing customer service and for a quick and casual getaway to nature. Do not expect luxury stay, but I would highly recommend it if you want to have a British experience in all senses. Very clean accommodation and kind staff.
Mattress could be improved

The staff were great, just the one gentleman, he was polite and helpful. The location was where we needed. The price was not inexpensive and due to the website, we were expecting a gratis child bed.
A small additional bed for a 7yr old was available but an additional 25 pounds seemed excessive.

Very friendly pub. Clean comfortable room and lovely breakfast
Our room was over the outdoor seating area and next to the road. We had to have the windows open as it was so hot .The nolse of cars and people chatting until late was an issue. I would definitely advise earplugs.
