The hotel was very clean and functional.

I could have put a note up to 10/10 but unfortunately a staff of this hotel was not friendly and was unpleasant which lowers the note. Indeed, we had the right to have breakfast in our room and this one wanted to refuse for an unknown reason. Once the complaint was made to the manager, he no longer said hello during our visits, I find it unacceptable for an employee to react in this way! He does not realize the image that this can send back. Apart from this problem, the other members of staff were very welcoming and caring.

The breakfast buffet was fantastic, with a mix of Western and North/South Indian specialties. The entire staff was warm and accommodating. Our room was beautiful and well-appointed. Very convenient location in the heart of Pondicherry.

The pool was rather cool even in late February heat, probably because it's shaded most of the day. The background music in the restaurant and lobby (American pop and country) did not compliment the hotel's old European ambiance -- jazz or classical would be better. Our mattress was too soft for our taste, though not a bad one.

This is a great location with The Promenade and beach within easy walking distance. The staff are very lovely and supportive and cheerful, it’s was a pleasure to spend time with them. The restaurant is good and serve a great masala dosa amongst a variety of other choices

It is an old colonial building, and feels a little jaded but that’s acceptable, more could be made of the rooftop area which is very basic. The swimming pool is central and this very overlooked which is OK but some covered seating and tables and maybe a green barrier between lounge beds and guest pathway would help

My first night in Pondy I was staying in this horrible place so I checked out first thing the next morning and booked myself into the Grand Hotel d’Europe. The manager Rijesh was exceptional and jiggled some rooms around to accommodate me for my entire stay. The hotel is gorgeous. My room was fabulous, lovely decor and bathroom and I felt completely at home there. The location is perfect for walking round Pondy and I hired a bike so cycled the length and breadth of the town. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and a special mention to Guga at the front desk for making me feel so at home. Would definitely stay here again. Loved it!

Absolutely nothing!

We first stayed in a regular twin room, which was a little compact for two of us with lots of luggage. We upgraded to the grand twin which was massive and had lots of room. Beds and pillows were super comfy and I slept really well. The staff were really helpful and accommodating , from the room service staff to the manager, everyone seemed to just want to help and make our stay as comfortable as possible. The location was great and the main food menu, the food was great, even for a western palate . Would definitely stay there again. Thankyou to all the staff for making our stay memorable and enjoyable.

There was very little to not like. If I was to be super picky, the western breakfast choices could have been a little better, although I’m sure the chef would have accommodated us had we asked. A non dairy milk option for coffee would have been nice, but the latte and coffee was still great.

I stayed there for four days in the first week of October 2024. All staffs were cordial and always at service. I must mention about two female staffs Encourage and Tiplong who were working at the restaurant. They really took good care of our four years old daughter. From check in to check out everything was on time and smooth. Location of the hotel is also great. It is barely 2 minutes walk to the rock beach. All other popular cafes, restaurants are walking distance from the hotel. I will definitely recommend Grand Hotel D'Europe.

I wish if they could have a bar at the pool side. Though they have a great bar in the hotel.

This is delightful place to stay right in heart of White Town. The promenade is just around the corner - about 5/7 mins walk. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Some of best cafés and restaurants are within walking distance. The pool is good as well. Rooms were large and done up in antique/vintage style. The hotel is housed in a 100 years old building which adds to the charm. The breakfast is thin though - not much options if you are staying for more than 2 days. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a nice surprise. Aesthetically done up overall. Definitely recommend.

Limited Breakfast options

We arrived at the facility pretty much on time and our room was ready. This is a heritage property and about 135 years old. Yet it was well built and had an outstanding neatness to it. The room was quite big for the 3 of us. There was a changing room next to the attached bathroom. We also had a personal balcony. Despite of the extreme hot weather outside the 2 Airco unit outlets kept the room very cool. Food at the restaurant downstairs was very delicious and had quite variety of cuisines. I personally liked the Pizzas. At the breakfast there were a wide variety of fruits to choose from along with many other delicacies. The location of the hotel was very close to the beach. Staff were very friendly and catered to our every single need. Mr. Rajesh, the GM at the facility provided personal attention to our needs and was a very friendly person to talk to. The cherry on top was the small swimming pool where we spent hours enjoying a cool break from the hot weather.

The room did not have an extra bed for child (I perhaps made an error while booking). The bed in the room was large but not to include a 10 year old :) We had to ask for a temporary child bed and was immediately provided against a reduced fee (Thanks to the facility manger).

The Hotel is a fabulous hotel and the best in Pondicherry. The Hotel General Manager, Rajesh was excellent and the best. He is an asset to the hotel and has very high standards of exceptional guest services. Very large well decorated rooms. The beds were very comfortable. The best washrooms with branded amenities. Everything in the room was very well designed. The hotel had exceptional and superb cuisine done by Chef Saravan and service by Shakti. The Front office receptionist was also very good in her guest relations and service orientation. We loved the hotel and thank you Rajesh for your outstanding hospitality and taking the best care of us.

A cozy place in white town which should be a must stay for anyone coming to Pondicherry. It is within walking distance of everything in white town, beach is a 2 mins walk with terrace giving sea view. We stayed for four nights and everything about the property was amazing from the room, the verandah in front of the room to the outdoor seating in Mira restaurant.

Outdoor seating in Mira needs mosquito coils which were not available and first aid availability at front desk are two opportunities to explore on improving.
