the staff, the location, the rooms, the atmosphere: simply beautiful!

The only downside of our stay was the rudeness of the diving center attached to the facility. We rented two kayaks from a French-speaking man who treated us very poorly. First, he brusquely told us to hurry because the tide was going out. Additionally, we were considering renting snorkeling masks, and when we asked if the island in front was good for snorkeling, his response (from the diving center manager!) was: "See for yourselves, I don't snorkel." We've never experienced anything like this before...

The place is just next to the sea. The bungalows were spacious and clean. The staff was amazing, very friendly and kind.

I didn't pay attention when I booked it, but just FYI, the toilet is on the ground floor of the bungalow and is not a closed room. As soon as you enter the door,the toilet is just there. There's a stair to the second floor where the beds are.. Just posting here for those who need more privacy :)

It was literally the best hotel I've ever been to and I've been to many. Super authentic and down to earth, yet fast internet to work. People who work there made me feel home. So did mosquitoes - they loved me. If you come here with babies, make sure to bring child-safe repellents. Mind there's no air conditioners, which is absolutely fine since all chalets are located in the very shady gardens. There's also no hot water but you don't need it there. SCUBA diving shop is right at the hotel and they are very good and not expensive. Food was simple but delicious and not pricey. The whole island is walkable, amazing sunset beach is 2 minutes away by tuk tuk. Just go there, you'll not regret.

I loved everything ! I enjoyed the our beach Shack was right at the front of the beach watching sunrise every morning from our bed. thought the food was fantastic and reasonably priced in the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful, even before I reached the property giving me all the relevant information about getting to them and travel information. Even pre-booked my boat and transfers from hat yai airport. Well 1000% recommend this place.

That I didn’t book more days there Only thing I could say is a little downfall they don’t have any hot water but it was actually a blessing as it’s nice to call off and I didn’t really mind it in the end

A little piece of pure paradise Made the effort to travel to koh lipe after landing in Bangkok as our initial base to travel around with my two daughters, koh lipe does not disappoint and exceeded all of our expectations and beyond. Castaway resort is exactly as described, a short walk to the waters edge after being greeted by the amazing staff with a cold refreshing drink upon arrival will make you realise two things. 1. How much the journey here was worth the effort. 2. You really have made it in life if you have reached this place Our house was basic, truly beautiful and good value for money but we came for basic and was extremely impressed with our home Real castaways and an unforgettable experience for both my children and me We will return

Small walk to get WiFi dependant on which house you get but the walk was less than one minute

First resort I’ve stayed on Koh Lipe and probably the only one going forward. Everything from the bar, the private beach and the chalet are top notch and made for a perfect getaway if you’re looking for somewhere to unwind. The staff are always present, extremely helpful and accommodating to our requests, and the resort is designed to meet most of your activities including massages and diving tours without even stepping out.

The lack of aircond and hot shower might be a turnoff but the weather was pleasant enough to not pose much of a problem. Try to request an extra fan because it made all the difference. It’s also a bit of a walk to the walking street but otherwise you have everything you need on site

This was our second stay at Castaway -- we came previously around six years ago -- and we were very happy to be back in Koh Lipe! The resort is lovely, the staff are friendly and it's in a good location. The rooms are pretty basic, but you don't need much when you're exploring the gorgeous island all day! The resort was very helpful in helping us organize our travel to / from Koh Lipe which I really appreciated. Through them, we also booked additional activities such as massages & snorkeling. This, too, was very easy and organized. One of my favorite things at the resort was the yoga they offered each morning. The teacher was really kind, skilled & I liked how early it was (7am) which allowed me to start my day on a positive note. When we travel, we always opt to stay at Eco Resorts and were happy to see Castaway doesn't use plastic straws and offers a water refill station to use (albeit the water is quite warm!).

The biggest issue I had with Castaway was the fact that they use RAID when cleaning the rooms. When advertising as a Eco Resort, I was shocked that they used a product with so many chemicals ... not to mention the housekeeper sprayed it carelessly into the room where we had our toothbrushes & drinking glasses. To their credit, we promptly asked the front desk not to use RAID in our room anymore and they complied. It didn't feel that good knowing this was being used in the neighboring bungalows and likely everywhere else on the resort, though. When we specifically book an Eco Resort, we hope it's as organic as possible...not a front or an advertising gimmick.

We really enjoyed our stay at Castaway. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. Our room was clean and made up every day. It was warm during the night but of course we knew that and it was manageable. We deeply appreciate the efforts of the resort to minimise their impact on the environment. The only drawback was the location but mostly in front of the resort. To get there, you had to walk over an elevated concrete path which ran over something best described as a stinky wastewater bog. It made me gag multiple times every time. Not the fault of Castaway but maybe they could support efforts to clean up this area.

The cabins don’t have air conditioning so you would need at least 2 fan per room to stay comfortable

Really relaxed atmosphere at the restaurant/ hangout area. The vibe is very chilled. The rooms were nicely decorated. It does get warm in there with just a fan, but we found that moving the mosquito net to one side really helped with the fan circulation. We didn't have issues with getting bitten, but we also kept the doors closed in the evening. The drinks and happy hour were good. Some nice food selection.

There isn't much beach left in front of the resort. If you wanted to lay out, you would have to walk 5-10 minutes, which isn't a big deal. The water is clear and beautiful to swim in even though there are quite a few boats in the area.
