It is very hard to review this place ..... I read the reviews and thought they simply cannot be right. The place is a beach hut in a hot country ! Prepare !!!! It is not like a London hotel ! I am prepared and have stayed in huts before. I stayed in hottest time here which is a challenge ! But I loved it ! I stayed 4 nights and extended 2. It's a challenge mind and gets easier as you stay longer.....and I think the challenge all comes.down to the heat in the end. The fan is your friend here and helps if you've acclimatized for a week or so before hand. So the location cannot be bettered . Sunrise is awesome and you don't have to walk anywhere . Can swim meters away. Facilities = if prepared it's fine. The bathroom is ideal !! Ideal ! In fact we'll thought out for a beach hut. Friendly lizards kept away when asked. Minimalistic but they provide all what is needed. If you need more you would be in the wrong place. Fan, insect net (I didn't use), I could do my washing , sit and watch sunrise from my balcony beach front. When others trudge off in the heat to their hotels I sit and sup a beer looking at the amazing views . There are raised nail heads due to flex of bamboo floor. Not an issue and why not ask for a hammer if it is. It's like stepping in a small stone if it even happens. Be careful it is not a hotel room. Zero cuts or issues in my days. Early mornings were bliss due to the cool breeze ! Bliss ! This is when I did the washing and hung it out to dry. . Prob challenging for a family !!!! You would need two huts ! If not prepared for a "washed up on the beach" experience isolate yourself from the environment in a expensive hotel. Where is the experience in that ? You become a viewer not a participant. I feel iv had the ko lipe experience. Don't forget - beachfront is what I was in right on the beach meters from sea Sea view is a hut just back a bit !! Sea view is not beach front !!

Didn't like is too strong a word. I became so laid back living in the hut I became able to take anything. The question is more - could you take the lack of mod cons - my answer = yes easily but I am prepared !!!!! I can make coffee from ditch water as long as I have elec. The chap is rather removed ..... I guess he has seen and heard all before ..... But honest ! What he says goes. Honest and trustworthy= good to me. Nights are hot. The fan works but was too hot for any blankets even my silk bag liner Mozies were doable without net - I can't get on with them. Mozi.spray here !

It was really ON THE BEACH! Amazing! If you like wildlife and chilling vibes this place is gonna be perfect for you! You can touch with your hands the life on Koh Lipe living there, close to the local people.

If you are not ready to see bugs, geckos and spiders, go to one of many expensive resort that the island offers!

The best type of accommodation you can imagine in this type of climate. The bamboo bungalows are far more suited to the climate than any concrete building! There's breeze inside day and night, which makes the temperature perfect and there is no need to use the fan. The beach is nice and quiet at night time. Many people stay long term (we stayed 4 weeks), making this place a nice and quiet neighbourhood. One of the last bamboo bungalows on Lipe (there used to be many!) so very precious. Hardly any mosquitos and never too hot. Good location close to the walking street, next to Adang Sea Divers (recommended dive centre] and very close to the best Thai food restaurant on the island - Thaidurm (a must!). Good snorkeling just outside of your bungalow (try going around both small islands you can see from Varin, if you are a good swimmer). We will be back when the long-tail boats will have exhaust pipes installed.

Not a fault of Varin Village, but the noise of long-tail boats was simply unbearable! We have been visiting Koh Lipe in many years, but this is sadly the last time. We are not back before the long-tail boats install exhaust pipes to.reduce the noise and exhaust, which was filling our bungalow from 7 am in the morning (worst around 8:30-9:30).

I really enjoyed my stay at Varin Village in Koh Lipe. The location is unbeatable—right on the beach, with beautiful views and a peaceful, quiet atmosphere. It felt very safe and relaxing the entire time. The bungalow was simple but had everything I needed, including a hot water shower, which was a nice touch. For the price, it's a great value—perfect for anyone looking to stay right by the sea without breaking the budget. I'd definitely come back!

There is no WiFi there but buy 5g from 7/11 for 350 thb and you are covered

Location literally couldn’t have been better! Right on Sunrise Beach so incredible views in the morning and also a stones throw from Walking Street. Wanted an ‘authentic Thai experience’ and got it with this basic bamboo hut (No flushing toilet fyi, just a bucket and a tap to chuck down after). Clean considering location and structure etc and there were towels, mozzy net, soap, toilet paper and water provided!

Amenities extremely basic and bed hard (like most in budget accom tbf). Also seemed unorganised with staff; they were dealing with some sort of electricity outage when we turned up and I was made to stand waiting outside in the dark for 20 mins watching 4 men stand and stare at an electrical box when all I needed was someone to hand me a key and say ‘Hut X’. Also someone came knocking on our door on the morning of our departure almost and hour and a half before we were told we needed to check out and woke us up (too many cheekii cocky-ts meant I needed sleep and was gutted to be deprived🤣). I guess it just wasn’t the exceptional service we usually receive and appreciate from the Thai people!

This is exactly the bamboo hut beach bungalow that typified Thai travel for years...pleased to see them remain for travellers on a budget who want to stay beside the sea. I can't get my head around the negative feedbacks. Space- each bungalow had around 8 metres space at all sides around it. Balcony large, room good size, bed large, bathroom large. Mosquito net large, fully fitted bed and in good condition. Noise and critters - none. You are not staying in an air tight room so yes of course there is low noise to be heard but nothing to trouble. We got 1 Caterpillar and 1 moth in 5 days! There are long tail boats outside - they are everywhere on island. But not in motion from around 9 pm till 7 am so again, not a bother at all. Location - you are 10 steps from the sea if you book row a or b. You are less than 5 mins from walking street and all your food and drink needs. Fabulous. Room to swim between boats as they leave spaces to do so. Kayaks and long tails to rent right outside. Worth popping over to Adang and hiking the viewpoint. Staff - check in easy, check in staff functional were not effusive but rest of staff around the place are full of smiles all the time. Safety - no issue. Padlock and chain on door. Always people around. Lots of families. Cool vibe. Bamboo and wood structure so if concerned wear flipflops inside but we had no issue with nails or disrepair. All in all I have taken the time to write a detailed feedback as I hope this makes others feel confident to book and have a lovely chill time in your budget beach traditional Thai bungalow.

It’s very tired, my fourth time there over many years and they still haven’t changed the mattresses with metal springs popping out so impossible to sleep well. Check in guy drives around on his motor bike from 7am and wakes everybody up so way too noisy as well as the long boats and other guests . It needs new beds

The simplicity and the front sea view. This is the last authentic and affordable place in Koh Lipe. The owners are local chao ley and some people comment that they are not friendly, it’s not true! They are, they just don’t speak very well English. So start smiling and enjoy the low price instead of complaining. Buy insects repellent for the bathroom and you will be fine. Please note that local people wake up early to work because it’s too hot after. Have little compassion while on holiday!

Of course the bungalows can be improved but overall it’s a great value for money. If you are sensible to noise or insects, book a more expensive hotel to meet your expectations!

Perfect location right on sunrise beach at the end of the walking street. The bungalow was pretty basic but had everything I needed. They picked up the outside garbage bin daily and provided brooms in each bungalow which made it easy to keep my room clean. The bed was bigger than I expected and the bug net and fan worked well to keep mosquitoes from biting in my sleep.

Everything was great for the price and location though my showerhead wasn't the best (a lot of the water came out at the handle and the nozzle holes were plugged up). For that price though, it was fine!
