We loved everything about our stay…the location right in the Center of Udaipur means most things are walkable (a rarity in India!). The property itself is >300 yrs old and full of character, sensational lighting, colours, and above all wonderful staff members…breakfast and dinner is excellent, and their smile goes a long way. GM Sunil is very chatty, and kindly showed us around his recently opened 2nd property Madri Haveli Retreat (right next door)…he also let us use the pool to cool down from the afternoon heat, which we appreciated a lot. Come and stay here, you will not be disappointed, splash out on the suite, you won’t regret it, it’s stunning at every time of the day. Stepping into Madri Haveli is like stepping back in time, with its stunning heritage architecture, detailed craftsmanship, and traditional décor that echoes the charm of Udaipur. Each room is immaculately maintained, offering a comfortable and pristine retreat. The staff at Madri Haveli excel in hospitality, paying close attention to every detail to ensure guests feel well-cared for throughout their stay. Dining on the rooftop is an unforgettable experience, where delicious cuisine meets panoramic views of Udaipur's enchanting skyline. However, one area that could improve involves the amenities provided in the room. Given the price, it was disappointing to find that the room wasn't refreshed during our three-night stay, not even with complimentary water bottles, which were surprisingly available for purchase only. From the serene ambiance to the exceptional service, Madri Haveli beautifully marries the elegance of the past with the comforts of the present. Despite the minor hiccup with room refreshments, it remains an outstanding choice for anyone visiting Udaipur. Highly recommended for an authentic and memorable stay.

While the stay was largely exceptional, the absence of complimentary room refreshments, especially water bottles, given the price, was a noticeable shortcoming.

This was really an exceptional stay and it was better then I expected. The place is a renovated old Haveli building, which makes it very special to stay there. In the middle of the building is a courtyard that brings the light into the rooms. On one of the floors there is a nice nook with stain glasses that let through beautiful colors of light. That is where one can sip a cup of chai and/or read a book. On top floor there is a small restaurant where we had a very tasty breakfast. In the evening it is possible to have eat dinner or have a mocktail surrounded by the beautiful views of the city. The hotel organized for us a pick up from the hotel with a great driver. Since the hotel is located in narrow lanes not accessibile by the cars, they organized a auto-riksha to/from hotel to taxi. Everything in this city is a short walk distance from the hotel, so it is really easy to go around. All the staff was really above and beyond, they helped us in everything we needed and more :)

While it is an incredible thing to stay in a haveli, one need to know that the rooms can be a bit dark. Something we could not work out was to set a good temperature with the air con & ventilator, it was a bit a hit and miss.

This Haveli has been created so well into a beautifully designed boutique hotel. Their attention to detail easy to see. All of the staff were polite, warm, and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room, like the rest of the hotel, was traditionally created. We loved our stay here. They even treated my husband to a beautifully decorated table for his birthday, plus a special birthday cake. He was so surprised. We were also shown around their newly opened Madri Haveli Retreat. We were blown away. It is beautiful, the style and decor of such high quality. We hope we get the chance to return. A big thank you to the team of brilliant staff at Madri Havel Heritage.

Everything was amazing

This is an amazing, beautiful property; authentic and historical. It truly felt like I was living the life of ancient royalty. The staff were always helpful, pleasant, and accommodating. They even provide a private tuk tuk ride from their narrow lane to meet your taxi. The rooftop restaurant has amazing views and wonderful food and service any time of day. It is close to all sorts of markets, temples, restaurants, and lovely sites to visit and explore.

Things to consider: The beds are super firm (I stayed in 2 different rooms during my week there). With a change to a quality, comfortable mattress this stay would be ideal. There is no elevator, so you'll be climbing lots of stairs. Hot water is limited to certain hours in the morning and evening, although you can request it at other times. They say they do this for conservation reasons. So you have to plan your showers, which can be inconvenient.

1. Water is available only during specific time periods. You can request on demand but it's a bit of a hassle. The thing is also that if the warm water starts at 7am, it takes some time for it to actually get warm. It's actually for a good cause, but it restrains you quite a bit. 2. Bottled water is double expensive than usual and they surprisingly put a service charge on it as well.

What a fantastic traditional haveli right in the center of the old city. We treated ourselves to the large suite and it was exceptional with a bedroom, dining room, traditional sitting area with coloured glass windows and a bathroom. The staff were all fantastic from Sunil the general manager to Jitu and Dev on reception and the attentive guys on the roof top restaurant. We were treated like family and were looked after so well. Great views of the city and the lake and peaceful with the gentle hum of life around you. We adored this place 😍

Beautiful haveli in the heart of Udaipur. Thus charming haveli was one of our favorite stays in India. Tucked into a quit lane it is calm, yet within walking distance of all main sights. The building is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The interior is beautifully designed and comfortable and the roof top terrace lovely, and breakfast (especially the pancakes) and food was delicious. Highly recommend.

Everybody that comes to Udaipur should book this hotel. the staff were incredibly helpful and really nice. They helped us hire a Tuk Tuk for the entire time we were there and it was just so easy to contact the driver whenever we wanted to go somewhere and know that we were getting a fair price. The air conditioning unit in the room was very powerful and made it very comfortable to sleep in considering we were there in peak summer. Bedrooms were incredibly beautiful, authentic and traditional feel. The bed was very comfortable, and the location was right in the center of the old city with a view of the lake as well as being close to the city Palace. Is there anything I didn’t like?
