We can’t recommend this place enough! The family is absolutely incredible – they let us cook real Italian pasta in their kitchen and we shared the meal with everyone, which made us feel at home. They even did our laundry for us, and the whole place was one of the cleanest we’ve stayed in during our trip to Sri Lanka. The father is very experienced in Yala safaris – he offers half-day tours at the best price we found and really knows the park well. He does everything he can to help you spot leopards! They also help with booking taxis and getting around the area. Our room was perfect, with air conditioning and super clean. Thank you so much for having us – we truly felt like part of the family!

One of our best accomdations we have stayed on our road trip. The family was incredibly welcoming and very professional in their services. We stayed in a villa that was clean, spacious, relatively new, and had comfortable beds. The father had over 20 years of experience in safari guiding, so we decided to go on a full-day safari with him. The food during the safari was delicious, and he was determined to find leopards, as we really wanted to see them. Fortunately, we were lucky, and we did! Thank you for everything; we truly enjoyed our stay!

They still haven’t installed wifi in the villa, so the internet wasn’t working there.

Our stay at shine park was perfect. I travelled with 3 of my friends, we got three spacious rooms that were very clean and comfortable. The host is a family and they were so welcoming and kind. Three of us did the safari but one of our friends stay there while we did it with the owner. She had an amazing breakfast in the morning, she could also choose a time when she would like to eat. Our breakfast was takeaway for the safari, we got a lot of things. Sweet, salty and drinks. The safari with the owner was incredible, he was very professional and been doing safaris for a long time. We could spot elephants, leopards and so on. The price for this place and what we got in exchange is incredible. Would recommend coming here

We had a great stay at Shine Park. The owners took good care of us. We could order dinner and breakfast and they did our laundry. We also went on Safari and I can tell you it was awesome. We saw elephants and even the leopard beside all the other great animals. The husband made sure to provide a good experience for our little group of three and he didn't disappoint. We even got breakfast and lunch included and it was delicious. The Safari was great value for money. We did the full day tour and it was totally worth it. We saw a majority of animals in the afternoon and it's a bit less crowded. It's a long day in the car but you get a 2 hour lunch break and water if needed. I'm glad we booked the whole day. We also stopped for small animals and our driver took time to explain. Thank you, if we ever come back we'll stay with you again 😊

Had a great time here , after busy Mirissa to this beautiful quiet area near yala surrounded by trees and nature . The room is the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka , large comfy bed , spacious room , lovely bathroom and best of all a hot shower . Breakfast is basic but plentiful . ( and a great price ) I was also able to park my motorbike bike easily undercover . You can also book a safari here which makes a lot of sense and it was great ( and I thought better value than booking online ) , the guides will do there best to find the animals but nature is not on remote control so enjoy the beauty of yala and you may or may not spot a leopard . The lovely family will do there best to ensure you have a great stay . My stay here was Just perfect

This is a family run homestay. It was a beautiful home with an equally beautiful garden and surroundings. The air con worked well, the shower pressure was great, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast cooked by the mother of the household was one of the best. We would HIGHLY recommend doing the safari tour through Shine Park. The father who leads this has been doing it for over 22 years and refuses to follow suit of other tours who constantly call other drivers to find animals, which WILL result you in spending a long time in “traffic” within the Yala national park. Probably won’t even see the animal in the end… Instead he took us on our on route quietly and we saw not just one leopard but TWO!! This is very rare. We spoke to other people later that day and they didn’t see any. In addition to this we saw deers, mongooses, water buffalos, crocodiles, an owl, an eagle, LOTS of peacocks (doing the dance)…plus many more. It was clear it was more than just a job for him. He knew lots of birds too! Don’t waste your time booking a random tour when it’s likely to be 2nd class at best compared to Shine Park!

We had such a lovely stay at Shine Park, the safari, the room, the food were all great! The room is really comfortable, clean & big. The safari with Janaka was amazing, he is clearly very experienced and we saw 2 leopards, lots of elephants, crocodiles and many more animals. He is very respectful of the animals whilst also knowing where they will be and having a great eye for spotting them - he saw a chameleon from about 25 metres away! Overall can’t recommend shine park enough, we had a really enjoyable experience. Also, there is a lovely restaurant that we ate at for dinner called Lake Safari Eco-home which is about a 10 minute walk away. The food there is wonderful, the atmosphere and location are beautiful (away from town), and the staff are so friendly & accommodating, would recommend their vegetarian rice & curry.

Very clean, good location and the couple who run this are so lovely! The rooms are spacious with good air con. The highlight of our stay had to be the safari at yala national park, we did with the man who runs this place. It was an unforgettable experience! He really knew what he was doing, we saw 2 leopards and one of them he followed so we saw it twice! We also saw all the other animals there. What an amazing stay, thank you so much! :)

We read the great reviews. In addition and more relevant, Shine Park was highly recommended by a fellow traveller. All the positive reviews turned out true. Lovely family - looked after us brilliantly. Room spacious with a very comfortable bed. Wifi a wee bit hit or miss. Evening meal (extra - but great value) and breakfast (included) were tasty and plentiful. We chose to go on safari with Janaca. Early start meant we were in the park for sunrise. The stories you read about the overcrowding of Yala is true but with the experience Janaca has, he was able to show us magical areas to view animals without the crowds. Highly recommend 👌

Lovely, clean and comfortable room. Janaka was very helpful especially when I was organising the Yala safari. He has his own jeep and is a very experienced guide... 23 years, we left early for sunrise in the park and full day tour, with a good sized packed breakfast prepared by Janaka's wife. It was great because he took us in via the less busy northern entrance which I fully recommend. He was a great guide with extensive knowledge and he had an eagle eye (could literally spot a chameleon on top of a tree so far away whilst driving! We were very lucky and we got to see so much wildlife, so lucky to see a leopard super close up, elephants, Crocodiles, monitor lizards, water Bison, deer, lots of tropical birds, black faced monkeys, and loads more. Janaker is a very trusted and experienced guide and a genuinely kind and caring guy. Around the Guesthouse, you can take a walk to the lake and through the paddy fields.

I'm not sure if there is any WiFi available... But i could be wrong, I was using my Mobitel data so it was no issue for me.
