The resort was fabulous, from location, staff, food and accommodation. The staff arranged a safari for us and provided us with breakfast, fruit and water which was excellent. The accommodation was 5*. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and the balcony was big with lovely views across the fields. You can see peacocks in the gardens. We ate at the restaurants on two nights. The food was delicious and service was 5*. The hotel arranged a full day safari for us. Our safari was superb and our tour guide Sasunka was excellent. We saw leopard, elephants, lots of birds, mongoose, lizards and buffalo. We had a private jeep which was excellent. I unfortunately lost my bag on safari but luckily the wildlife officers found it and the staff at the hotel helped arrange for me to collect this the following day - this was super helpful and reassuring. They came with me and helped translate.

Lovely hotel with everything you might need in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful design, comfy, clean and tidy, amazing views from the balcony (exceptionally serene atmosphere), air conditioning works well, spacious bathroom and shower. Pool is clean and inviting. Absolutely love that the hotel provides everything: food, water etc. Restaurant is good, food is delicious and portions are huge. Personnel was nice and friendly. We also booked safari with the hotel. It was awesome. The only thing we didn't like was how much more wore down our Jeep was compared to all the others. But the driver was very thorough with showing us all the animals and stunning views, so we were happy with our safari at the end. The included breakfast was tasty and plentiful as well.

I think there is a bird nest or something on the roof of the house (closest one to the gate), the birds created insane noise last morning, maybe that could be dealt with (without harming the birds of course).

Sankil the manager was really helpful and we are very thankful for all his help during our stay! He was very kind and attentive to our needs. We had a room on the top floor and we were so happy with the size and amenities within the room. All of the staff were friendly.

We did think the restaurant was a little poorly decorated, with no music or “atmosphere” either. The pool was nice but more could be done with their outdoor space. The Sri Lankan food offered was amazing, so flavoursome! The western breakfast was slightly underwhelming however. Overall we were pleased with our stay and the staff are wonderful.

The hotel staff was exceptionally helpful and attentive throughout our stay. From the moment we arrived, they went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and had everything we needed. Special thanks to Sasika Bogahalande (manager) for providing local recommendations, or quickly addressing any requests, their friendliness and professionalism made a significant difference in my experience.

I did notice some areas for improvement, particularly in cleanliness and bedding comfort. The room could have been cleaner, as I noticed that could have been addressed more thoroughly. Additionally, the bedding, while acceptable, was not as comfortable as I would have hoped. The mattress was a bit too firm for my liking. Improving these aspects would greatly enhance the guest experience. Despite these issues, I enjoyed my stay and would consider returning if these improvements were made.

We had a wonderful stay at the Avonil Resort. The room was clean and spacious. The air conditioning works well. The shower did not always get hot. The staff is friendly, thoughtful and ready to help you if you have any questions. We had an excellent breakfast and a delicious meal in the evening, although the restaurant has little atmosphere. Our attendant each evening was exceptionally friendly. The hotel manager brought us for a good price to our next hotel. This hotel is a good location for a safari in Yala, you leave at 5:00 am and receive a small breakfast package with an egg/cheese sandwich, a juice, a banana and a bottle of water. A safari can be arranged through the hotel, but we chose to do this through another party. We spent USD 60 per person for a private safari, the hotel charges slightly more, but this price is perfectly in line with the market.

The property was incredible! Quiet location and it feels like your were all by yourself. The staff were incredible, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay.

There is nothing to report here, it was the perfect location for us, however you can’t really walk to town (only a 5 min tuk tuk and staff can organise for you).

The property provided a wonderful, relaxing retreat, with every detail meticulously maintained and spotlessly clean. From the spacious room with a large, comfortable bed and well-functioning air conditioning to the beautiful balcony views overlooking the serene paddy fields and stunning sunsets, our stay exceeded expectations. We're already looking forward to a return visit in the near future.

The TV & dialog connection was not working and found few insects in the room. water pressure was bit low and could be improved.

This hotel was lovely, ones of the best we stayed at in Sri Lanka. Huge, spacious rooms with plenty of space for 3 adults. The beds were really comfortable and it was nice to have a separate lounge area. The pool area was also really nice and the pool was great, especially after a safari on a hot day! The staff were also super lovely and helpful.

While it was convenient to have a small restaurant on site, the food wasn’t as good as we were hoping.

Very spacious and comfortable rooms. This is one of the better places we stayed during our trip around Sri Lanka. Good dinner at a reasonable price and international + Sri Lankan breakfast. WiFi and air conditioner work very well. Nice swimming pool on the property. Friendly staff.

The shower water doesn't get very hot (but the water pressure is fine). Bathroom is not as clean as modern hotels (but still good for the area). Location feels isolated; best if you have your own car.

The property is amazing, situated in the centre of large rice fields. The owner was very helpful and kind. Rooms are very spacious and the pool is wonderful.

Given that it's situated next to fields, it's challenging to control small insects, nonetheless we had a great time and highly recommend this accomodation.
