Ryan's River Lodge B&B is located in the heart of the small town of Cong, about 45 minutes outside of Galway. Ryan's provided everything we needed for our stay: Clean rooms and bathrooms, a good amount of space within the room to move around and stow luggage, a lovely view of the stream across the street, and a good breakfast in the morning. The staff were very helpful, and Martha (the proprietor) went out of her way to engage with us on our second day of our stay after she missed seeing us on the first day. The property is close to hiking trails; routes and guidebooks for inspiration are available at the lodge. Visitors can try horseback riding and other activities via the nearby castle. Cong is a good stopping point for checking out Galway and then launching to the Connemara area.

Though the appearance was a bit dated, the rooms were clean and all furniture and appliances in good working order. The rooms overlooking the stream are also facing the one-way street through Cong, which made it challenging to have windows open for air overnight because of trucks/cars that start up pretty early in the day. Finally, customers should be aware there are few dining options for lunch and dinner in Cong itself.

Ryan's River Lodge was a perfect haven for our short stay in Cong - perched right on the river and adjacent to the village centre, Abbey and Cong Woods. Martha is a lovely host who could not have been more gracious or helpful. The B&B is kept in beautiful condition and our room and bathroom were spotless, comfortable and well-equipped. The breakfast is superb and I cannot remember ever enjoying such a delicious tomato and cheese omelette! On site parking and WiFi are additional welcome perks. We will definitely return!

That we didn't stay longer!

Really welcoming and friendly staff, food was delicious and home cooked. I asked for an iron as there wasn't one in the room and Martha had it waiting for me outside my room when I returned after breakfast. The bed was so comfy and everything was spotlessly clean. The room looked out onto the road and the river which I really liked, I could hear the river which only made for a relaxing nights sleep.

Everything was great for me during my stay.

Was our 2nd time here & it didn't disappoint. Rooms were comfortable & bathrooms were nice. I liked the night light option. Food was great & plenty of offerings along with being able to choose theday before what hot foods you wanted. Views there great & it was within walking distance of Ashford Castle grounds & trails. Situated in Cong with everything close. Riht next door to The Quiet Man museum & shop.

Limited parking.

Loved the location with free off-street parking. Within walking distance of restaurants, pubs, and shopping. Our room overlooked the stream. Quaint small town atmosphere. LOVED the modern, HOT, shower. Breakfast and options were devine. Even with other guests, the room was quiet. The lodge decor was superb.

I would have enjoyed chatting with our host more. But I like getting to know more about people.

The location was good for walking around Cong. It was very clean and welcoming. Nice big breakfast area and comfortable reading/relaxing area with lots of local information. Martha was very welcoming and personable. Would happily recommend her B&B.

It wasn’t a problem for us but if you no longer do stairs this is not the place for you. All the accommodations are on the 2nd floor.

Everything! The location was great. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and homey. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. I would give this property and staff a 20 out of 10! The little town of Cong is beautiful. Highly recommend a visit. Wish would could have stayed longer.

Everything was wonderful!

Ryan's River Lodge was, to us, a quintessential Irish experience. Our sweet room looked out over the river. Margaret made us feel so welcome and her breakfasts were delicious. We were able to hike and spend time on the grounds of Ashford Castle. We went to Pat Cohan's twice, the fish chowder, the best. A wonderful experience We hope to come back.

We did love every detail, from the room, staff, breakfast, decoration, It was such a pleased place to stay and near the park and river, such a lovely place!

I cannot think in anything, maybe the price, we always appreciate some discount in the fee in Ireland because all services compared to the rest of EU sounds expensive.
