New hotel....so it was extremely clean and all the furnishings, etc. looked fresh. Breakfast offered many choices and hot food was fresh and tasty.

We were sad that the pool was still closed. Apparently the hotel had just opened earlier in the week, and, according to staff, the pool had not yet received health inspection approval yet. However, the pool area was clean and welcoming.

Although we were unfamiliar with the Tru name we are familiar with the Hillton name and knew it could be trusted and we were not disappointed. Location is great with everything from appliance stores to the zoo is within walking distance or a short drive but the price is was cinched it for us.

The breakfast was pretty standard. However I did enjoy the fruit.

New, only open about a month. Bed was comfy, good quality linens and soaps.

Our first room the volume on tv was horrible, they tried to fix it but couldn’t. Move us to another room and the toilet overflowed after going #1!!! My husband was frustrated and raised his voice and the “manager” said he felt threatened and wouldn’t come to our room to fix the issue. Then got moved back into our original room. We only got the room to save time with traveling for work as we are driving 1 1/2 each way and working 12 hours a day, and to take a bath as we live/travel in our 5th wheel and don’t have a bathtub.

Weed smell mold around the bathroom and looked like the place was a rushed opening did not get my hilton points.

We actually did not get to stay here. We received an email a few days before check in from the property saying the hotel was brand new and there was a delay with opening. Totally understandable. The problem was that we could not cancel the booking ourselves. Booking couldn’t cancel it and no one answered the phone at the property. I wasted almost an hour of my life chatting with Hilton cooperate who told me they could not cancel it. Fortunately we were not supposed to pay until check in at the hotel and we did not receive a charge. The initial email from Hilton said they would credit our Hilton account 20,000 points for the inconvenience but did not happen. It would have just been lovely if the property made sure the reservation THEY cancelled was cancelled rather than just sending us in circles. Just glad we didn’t pay up front for this one…..

We were notified 2days before our stay the hotel was not going to be opening. We didn’t know when we booked it months before it was “being built”! We received an email from the manager and he recommended 2 other hotels near by that of course were already booked. After more than an hour of searching I found a Tru Hotel in Kalamazoo and a very courteous & helpful receptionist that took care of me & apologized for the situation.

NOTHING! When we arrived at the property we learned it was not going to open as scheduled. Neither Hilton or Booking.com notified me in advance. Fortunately an employee of Tru worked with her manager to secure a room at a competing property. Time will tell if they attempt to charge me a cancelation fee.
