Such good value for a really spacious room and a good location close to the old town district! The lady running the Ryokan is exceptionally nice and helpful. I also enjoyed the hot bath a lot and slept really well on the futon!

The property definitely is a little bit older and the tatami room have a certain smell which you can get used too though. The bathrooms are also shared which you should be aware of. Since the Ryokan is quite small though I had the bath for myself most of the time.

I really enjoyed my stay at Ryokan Takayama. The room (I had the Japanese -style room with futon) was big and very comfortable. Having a hot bath every night before going to sleep really made a difference to relax and get ready for the day after. It's a 10-minute walk from Takayama Station and less than 10 minutes away from the city center, which I appreciated.

Wi-fi only works in the reception area, not in all the rooms. Not a big deal if you stay only one night, but in 2024 it should be a basic service offered to customers.

Very simple Ryokan, the owner allowed us to leave the luggage for the afternoon even before checking in. The room was spacious yet simple with just 2 futon and a low sitting table. Also there was a ofuro (hot bath) in the Ryokan available for the guest without any additional cost, very nice.

I liked everything of the Ryokan. I wished i knew before, how good this Ryokan is. I really liked to private onsen downstairs of the Ryokan. The next time i will look those in other parts of Japan.

There was almost nothing i wasn't satisfied with. At the beginning there was little misunderstanding due to a little lack of english speaking abilities, but it was easy to handle with.

It was a little noisy because of the type of the construction. Maybe they could put "please be quiet" signs in the rooms as I saw other ryokans doing

The room was very nice and the onsen was also great. Bit loud due to the bus parking lot next to the window. Great location and easy to reach both the station and the historical center of the town.

Very homely property! I stayed one night when I arrived in takayama and it was perfect. Lovely staff, you get given a gown, towel, face cloth etc great location to walk into the main old town.

I didn’t mind but it was very old fashioned, I felt it added to the homeliness :)

Host was great, very friendly and cleaned our room and bought us snacks when we would be out. The communal bath was really nice, very few people so even thought it’s communal your often in there on your own. Location was great.

Were welcoming staff! The lady owner is super sweet and speaks some English (in Italian I'd say: "si fa capire"). The facility was very clean and the onsen was very cozy and nice. Cash only payments
