Good stay, with friendly helpful hosts, who were easy to contact. Nicely decorated "cabin", with plenty of room, warm and comfortable. Ideal location for us, visiting family at the Marina. Scenic walk into Rochester, around 20 mins away. Great sunsets.
Water pressure on the boat was very low one morning, ok the other days. An understandable foible of being on a boat. Guests should travel light. Access is a slight walk from the car park and then up steep, narrow steps to your deck. Whilst it worked for us, the lack of breakfast facilities could be a disadvantage. There are tea and coffee making facilities, but to get anything more substantial is probably a drive away. Hints about local places to eat could prove useful.

Beautifully restored boat, helpful hosts, great views, peaceful location; the self-catering unit was exceptionally clean, spacious, comfortable, well equipped and spacious which all contributed to a very lovely overnight stay. If you’re visiting Rochester, do consider staying here rather than a hotel. The Lightship is utterly unique. We were fortunate to be there during warm weather and it was lovely sitting on the deck watching the boats and the lights shining on the water, a truly memorable experience.
There is a walk from the carpark to the boat- when we arrived we did not initially realise that trolleys are available for luggage (they use a coin like supermarket ones). Knowing this, made our departure easier as we could just pile everything into a trolley & wheel to the carpark.

Everything was perfect, the room was very nicely and thoughtfully designed with everything you might need. Spacious and very clean bathroom, with great water pressure. The host met us upon arrival, with a warm greeting and showed us to our room. The area is very peaceful and the boat is very charming and well looked after. Everything was clean and comfortable. The room had two fans which were useful. Book with confidence and enjoy the beautiful breeze of the marina. There is a pub down the road, 10 minute walk, a co-op and a couple of small corner shops. For dinner we just jumped on a bus to the local town. The bus stop was near by and the local town and high street had many food options. It was nice to have a walk over the bridge and see the castle and the cathedral.

This was excellent for a bed-and-breakfast, near to Rochester and with charm and interest. Our room had a patio window overlooking the river estuary up to Rochester, with both castle and cathedral spire visible. The room was very comfortable and there was an excellent breakfast. There is a pub nearby for an evening meal if you don't want to go back into the town centre. We are very likely to use this again when we come back to Rochester.
There is just a little bit of noise from the M2, which did not bother us. It was a reasonable walk into Rochester (just over half an hour), which we enjoyed as we had quite good weather, but the section across Baty's Marsh would not be much fun in the rain: to bring our cases from the train station we took a taxi. These are not really things I disliked, but to be aware of.

Breakfast was exceptional, cooked to order. Lovely fresh fruit salad every morning and all served in the beautiful dining area on the lightship. Restoration of the lightship is impressive. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming. The room was warm but there was a fan in for our use. Lovely bathroom and well appointed with kettle, tea, coffee etc. We liked being in the midst of a boatyard, it was really interesting and there was a little shack selling breakfasts, burger etc and sold alcohol if you fancied sitting out in the sunshine with a beer. Good way of chatting with some of the locals. If you're looking for a quiet spot to get away from it all this is for you. It was quite convenient for us visiting the Chatham Historic Docks and the people in the area are so friendly.
We loved everything but if you have mobility difficulties getting up the steps to the room could be a problem. However it was fine for us and our host carried my luggage up for me. Driving around Rochester can be bit of a challenge but you soon get used to it.

We throughly enjoyed our 2 night stay on the Inner Dowsing Lightship, it is quirky, comfortable, very clean and beautifully restored. The hosts are friendly, kind and really helpful. We were blessed with sunshine so made use of the sunny deck, enjoying beautiful views of the Medway and Medway Bridge. You are within walking distance of beautiful Rochester although ubers are easy to come by if you don't fancy the walk back. There is a decent pub just a short walk alway where we enjoyed a reasonably priced meal. Loved our stay, thank you so much.
Nothing to dislike.

The location was less remote than I had anticipated and we could easily have got here by bus if needed. The breakfast was really high quality and the hosts have a nice system in place so you order by text the evening before. There is real attention to detail in the accommodation, such as blackout blinds, privacy on deck for each of the two rooms and everything you need in a relatively small space without it feeling cramped. The breakfast room is very nicely decorated and has interesting information about the history of the lightship. Hosts are very friendly and helpful.

Lovely location right on the River Medway with views across to the castle and the cathedral. Lots of wildlife to view. The welcome we received was warm and friendly. The lightship was quirky and there's a lovely upper deck to sit out on in good weather looking across the river. Breakfast was continental and plenty of it plus freshly made pancakes and fresh coffee. The breakfast room was very large and very nautical. All in all, a very pleasant stay.
These are observations and not complaints... when we arrived in the car park, we had to ask several people for the location as it was through a gate and a walk of about 200m to the lightship. We do understand that signage will be put up soon. Also, if you have mobility issues, getting to the cabin is up a steep staircase... but it's a lightship! Fortunately it gave us no problem but be aware.

Going to bed and waking up to the tide going in and out was magical. The bedroom was comfy and cosy, the bathroom fittings and extras felt like luxury. The hosts are really friendly but also give you space to relax. Breakfast was top notch with fresh fruit, croissants, choice of cereals and a choice of four hot options. I would definitely stay again and have recommended it to friends and family.
You are on a boat which means you will need to climb boat style stairs and be aware of plumbing limitations such as the hot water running out! There is a very small amount of movement to the boat when the tide is up which takes a little getting used to because it's so homely you forget you're on it. The boat is next to a bridge with traffic and trains running across, they are quite noisy but also very easy for the brain to ignore and they didn't cause us any issues with sleeping.

Welcoming and friendly. Quirky accomodation on an old lightship - perfect for boat and waterway lovers. Fantastic views of the Medway from both rooms. Top deck is converted into two bedrooms, both with ensuite, ideal for we two couples. We used the bunk beds (in one room) for extra storage but they would be handy for a couple with kids. Solar panels provide electricity for all-day heating, even in winter, so the rooms were warm and comfortable. Plenty of 240v mains and USB sockets. WiFi worked fine. Though on a boat, there was plenty of hot and cold water. Bathroom spacious, and all plumbing worked fine. Half hour walk into town by the river. Breakfast provided in a pleasant room below the top deck; we were offered pancakes, cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, yogurts, croissants and more.
Nothing I disliked.
