I was in Kyiv for a week and without a doubt my stay at the Hotel Ukraine was a true highlight. Yes, the hotel is dated (built in 1961) and lacks modern facilities, but that’s why you stay here. The place simply OOOZES with charm and the views from my room (1001 - business suite) were breathtaking. The hotel is centrally located, so getting anywhere in the city is an easy walk or short metro ride. Staff was friendly and I could not have enough of the apple pancakes for breakfast. If I could give them 11 stars, I would. Thanks to the Staff for accomodating my early arrival.

What I liked the least was having to leave….

You can't get more central than this, directly overlooking the Maidan near where the three metro lines all intersect. The rooms are fine and the price is fair. The optional breakfast is fine, and if you are a social person you may meet some exceptional people at breakfast. Most importantly, the hotel has a secure bomb shelter deep down in the sub-basement, with couches on which you can actually get a bit of sleep. Request a room on a low floor, so that you have the shortest possible walk to the shelter when the air raid sounds.

They were very informative and helpful up front, providing me information about any safety situation and the really understood that for a foreigner coming to a country in war times, that that can be a little exciting for that person, that was really helpful I really liked their flexibility, because of the war and my first time being in Ukraine, I did not really know what time I would be arriving… so I was allowed to book an extra night. However I did not make it in time and they canceled the reservation for free and was allowed to check in early for the next day, what really helped me so I did not have to wait untill 14:00. They were really helpful!! Next to that, it is a nice hotel, with good views!

The location and just the sheer enormity of the hotel exterior in such a powerful placement, is a must to appreciate. A hotel that truly stands out, and if you have a room with a view, the views are absolutely fabulous. Yes, it's an older hotel, but to me, that was something I wanted. Sometimes I want a modern experience, but other times, such as when visiting Kyiv; Ukraine Hotel met my expectations and wants for my stay. I came for the view, the location and the classic and powerful exterior. I didn't try the breakfast and I didn't need customer service from the staff, so I cannot comment on this. They have a deep shelter, but you will usually be alone if you choose to go down, as most seem to choose to ignore the sirens (which is understandable).

It's safe, clean and very central. The hotel itself is good, old style hotel, clean, beds really comfortable and has a great shelter on level -4. Staff were all great and they have really good security. The restaurant was also good.

When I chose hotel I chose it because of the location and the security in case of air alerts. It's not a luxury hotel but I didn't book it for luxury. I would definitely go back anytime.

Review: Staying in the heart of Kyiv might seem risky to some, but it’s important to note that this hotel is located near the presidential district, where air defense measures are at their highest. Many things seem frozen in time, yet that only adds to the character of the place rather than causing any inconvenience. One of the most impressive features is the massive bomb shelter in the basement—a reassuring touch given the circumstances. Overall, a memorable stay in a historic setting with a strong sense of security!

during my stay the hotel was almost empty, so the breakfast was likely improvised so that they wouldn't have to maintain full kitchen for a couple people (this is a BIG hotel) but it was okay. hotel is close to Khreschatyk metro, like a one minute walk. great view. had to use the shelter once and it was scary down there, wouldn't recommend, better just use the metro. by the way, the hotel is a sight in and of itself, located on the maidan

Everyone was wonderful. Especially when the current US administration has made it incredibly embarrassing to be a US citizen anywhere else in the world. I appreciate every ounce of effort these amazing folks put into their hotel while also living through what's going on. Слава Україні 💙💛

My shower head was kinda slow. Not worth complaining over.

When we checked in we got un upgrade, which we really liked as a newly wed couple traveling to Ukraine to deliver aid. In some sense it was our honeymoon. We didn’t really get to enjoy the room though. When we checked in the air raid alarm sounded so we went to the shelter. And had to stay there all night. The shelter was really nice though. Some good couches with blankets and a nice room where you could relax with some other guest. And the extremely deep shelter made us feel really safe.

The hotel is THE central location in the city center for discovering Kyiv, with stations of the major metro lines in close vicinity, and many important places of interest in walking distance. Despite the currently challenging circumstances, the hotel is well-maintained and the staff cares for the guests' well-being. A nice hotel bar is available. The room provided a breathtaking view over Maidan Nezalezhnosti. A shelter deep underground is accessible 24/7. The guarded parking just in front of the hotel is a very convenient amenity. I felt comfortable and safe during my whole stay.
