This hotel exceeded by expectations because it was so CLEAN and the bed and bedding were clean and comfortable. I had a nice chair to sit and read. The young man at check-in was very hospitable. I came in to Springfield via train, and it was only a 5 block walk or so from the station. Many people were parked there, however. If you had to take a taxi from the station, it wouldn't cost much due to proximity. It also had a shuttle with its name on it, but I don't know what its services are.

Coffee at breakfast. For these very reasonable prices, I certainly did not expect Starbucks, That said, the coffee had a burnt taste, and I went down to breakfast shortly after 6 am.

The staff were so friendly. The lady at the front desk who checked us in assisted with extra towels and an early check in since our room was ready. The lady who serves food in the morning was friendly and made a delicious breakfast. The location was perfect for our downtown events. The beds were comfortable. The place was kept clean. I enjoyed the facility being smoke free.

Everyone working was so nice and helpful! I thought I lost a book in my room, and they went out of their was to make sure it wasn’t there- even though the room had already been cleaned. Turns out I left it somewhere else, so I really appreciate all their help! Also was great because I left my car and walked around down town on foot. Didn’t have to worry about parking!

My room had a some food crumbs - something like a cookie maybe? - on the floor. Might have needed another run with the vacuum.

A basic and slightly dated, but comfortable room. It was clean with a decent shower. Breakfast options were okay - good value for the price we paid. We chose this hotel for a one night stay as part of our Route 66 trip and it was more than adequate for this purpose.

The area around the hotel doesn't feel particularly safe so we didn't venture out on foot.

The staff was just accommodating and friendly. Manager on duty made check in flawless ! Coffee and Tea was available 24/7 More selections for breakfast ! It was close to the BOS center. Quiet stay Good value for price Would recommend

As there were numerous lodging options in Springfield, I did what I always do and created a Venn diagram. The Carpenter Street Inn was subsequently booked for $82+tax (less a $25 voucher from booking.com) as it was the only lodging contained in the intersection of the sets of Price, Location, Habitability, and Cancelabilty. It's the most nondescript hotel I ever stayed in. A three-story gray building with no signage except for a very modest sign marking the entrance to the parking lot. Friendly service, a clean, quiet room, with plenty of hot water.

It came with the free tasteless breakfast that all such lodgings offer, which is not so much a benefit to be complained about, but a feature to be ignored.

I love this little hotel. I stay here every year for a horse show at the state fairgrounds. It is close to the fairgrounds. It is always clean. The staff is always friendly. The price is usually less than other hotels in the area…. It is also right by the hospitals which was great this year when I visited the ER after falling off my horse at the show!

Fantastic staff! Everyone we met (including the maid service) was friendly, approachable, professional, helpful, and appreciative.

The tub was very slippery when wet. After nearly falling, I put a hand towel down to stand on. No-slip bath stickers would be great improvement for the future.
