Absolutely loved our stay! From start to finish everything was perfect. Every staff member we had interactions with were friendly and helpful. We stayed in the presidential suite and I was amazed how beautiful it was. The flooring in the hotel is gorgeous and everywhere was perfect for photos. We had 3 course meal and couldn’t fault it. Will definitely be returning and even thinking of choosing as our wedding venue. 100% recommend

Beautiful hotel with great facilities and decor. I couldn't fault the food it was simply delicious. Both the bar area and restaurant were exceptional. Breakfast was hot and good choices. Staff in the restaurant and bar were lovely. The pampering facilities were brilliant and the service there was all I had expected. I had an amazing massage and I can honestly say it was one of the best. Well done! My room was a good size, comfortable and clean, the shower door didn't fully close but even that was not a problem. Even though I was a solo traveller it would not hurt to add an extra cup to the room and just have a few other options of hot drinks

Sadly I felt the night reception staff could have been a little more accommodating, not following up on requests and asking me more or less to sort my own issues out. On one of the days the jacuzzi was not working and it was left to someone from the spa area to sort out and I felt sorry for her as she clearly was trying but did not know what to do. This feedback was shared and an offer of a late check out was proposed by the receptionist on the day shift as compensation. On another point, help with bags would have been nice rather than watching me struggle and not offer any assistance. Even though I'm sharing this feedback it won't stop me from going back as I still had a wonderful time

Lovely pool with dry sauna and steam room plus gym and hot tub. Liked the room, windows painted shut so probably would not want that particular room in warmer weather. Only had one breakfast during our three night stay because I thought it a bit expensive, probably not for other travellers. Had an enjoyable dinner in the restaurant one evening with varied menu last orders on Sunday 9pm. If you like curious, quirky, old mixed with new this hotel is for you. Staff were very helpful. Pool Staff excellent. Reception (we arrived at 1am after a gig) were very good and exceptional in the daytime. Garage and pubs nearby which we did not have time to explore. Lots of lovely countryside and remote beaches to explore nearby.

The bar has decent decor and good seats but stark bright lighting which was not relaxing and sadly for us closed at 10pm on Sunday (shame). Some areas need a lick of paint. Grounds could do with a tidy and skip 'behind the scenes'. Could not work out how to access the 9 acres of land staff said there was no way thought at the moment (?).

The brilliant staff. The cleanliness of the property and the overall standard of decor and upkeep of the property, which is difficult in old large properties. The beds were clean and very comfortable. The food was so enjoyable and hot, which, for me, is important as I dislike being served lukewarm food. The portions were large!. Bar staff were good for a laugh and helpful, as was the guy doing hospitality in the restaurant. We mentioned it was mums birthday, and they decorated the table with confetti and balloons, a nice touch. The receptionists have been polite, professional, and approachable. The room service has been discreet, and the room kept clean and items refreshed that needed to be. All the staff have been a credit to the hotel. We didn't use the swimming facilities this time, so we can not comment on those, though previously they were very good.

It was quite cold in the restaurant, and in the corridor along from reception to the bar and the restaurant.

We have stayed at Mathu Belstead Brook Hotel before and therefore I already knew what to expect. On this occasion as a solo traveller I felt safe & secure here and had an opportunity to use both the pool & gym facilities. My stay was exceptional value and the variety of food for the half board option was excellent. The customer service made me feel truly welcomed (Denise on reception kept a genuine smile on her face throughout her shift) I came away feeling totally refreshed after such good sleep, food & wine in such a peaceful environment. Thank you to the whole team :)

No dislikes

The room had recently been redecorated. It was a very comfortable room with a wall heater that had a decorative flame affect. There was plenty of parking. We enjoyed the full english buffet breakfast. The hotel has a beautiful lawn and garden at the front with seating and an entrance to the main hotel, restaurant and bar. You feel that you are in the country. The hotel is easy to find and well signposted as you exit the A12 and take the A1214 towards Pinewood. The staff are very friendly and helpful and after asking; provided a luggage rack within minutes upon our arrival. I ordered a pizza through Room Service and it was delicious and very speedily delivered. This is our third or fourth visit and we really enjoy staying herre as it is very peaceful and relaxing.

The TV did not seem high definition on some channels but it may be the reception. It was okay. Upon wanting to order a light snack through Room Service, I discovered that the phone was not working. I used my mobile to contact reception who apologised. They immediately transferred me to Room Service. The only addition I can think of would be: an anti-slip mat on the floor of the bathroom as the bath seemed quite high to step in or out of.

I liked the location, and how clean our room was (the maids did a great job of making our room up daily)The hotel has a very nice pool and a nice work out area.

I didn’t like the fact that there was no air conditioner, we were unable to open our window as there was no screen on it and flies came in. Staying there in July It was warm and stuffy in our room. We needed more fans since there was no air conditioner. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed in that didn’t have washcloths in the room. We had to go out and buy some for our stay there. Since we stayed in what was considered the family room I would’ve loved to have a bit bigger refrigerator and a microwave. We were very disappointed how expensive it was to eat in the restaurant.

We have stayed here many times. It’s a great location, great value for money and very relaxing.

Bins in the car park were overflowing and weren’t changed the whole time we were there (5 days). These were in close proximity to the outside area of the leisure club where we were sunbathing and attracted vermin. These areas were also not kept clean with empty drink containers and cigarette butts littered the location. The complimentary beverages in the leisure area was inconsistent, sometimes it would be available and other times it wouldn’t. The Wooden flooring in the bedroom was raised causing a trip hazard.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious, the staff were helpful with any questions needing answers & the spa area was an added bonus to be able to use! The bed was lovely and comfortable, the added touch of chocolate on bed was sweet too. Definitely will be back in the future!

That the outside rooms didn’t have a fridge as this would have added just that last little touch for myself personally. Breakfast times slightly different to what’s on the information sheet in the room/online booking message apart from this which are only from me being picky, the stay was wonderful.

The leisure facility was wonderful - on the Sunday morning I went for a swim, sauna and jacuzzi - it was really peaceful The room was nice, got given a bath which was great.

There was no decaf teabags or coffee The bathroom door needed some attention Got given a garden room, wish I had gone for the Normal standard room and there wasn't much of a view. When I checked in, I was told I hadn't booked breakfast which I was taken aback as when I go away I always book breakfast. I wasn't prepared to pay an extra £15.99 for breakfast so went elsewhere.
