The Koraku Hotel is situated very close to Okayama Station (10 minutes walking distance). There is a bus stop around the corner from which a bus connects you with Uno port and the ferry going to Naoshima. Okayama Castel and Koraku-en Garden are 1.5 km away (20 minutes walking or 3-5 stops with a streetcar/bus). Between Koraku Hotel and Okayama Station are plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance. Within the hotel there is a convenience store, which is open very early to late hours. The staff was very welcoming and helpful (especially at breakfast service!!). The breakfast had a great variety with western as well as Japanese breakfast options, all very suited to vegetarians and absolutely worth the price. Our hotel room was located in the upper levels. The room matched the descriptions and pictures advertised. There was a relatively small window that could be opened to let in fresh air (very nice and not all Japanese hotels have this). The room was facing a big street. There was some noise of cars that could be heard even with the window closed. The room was quite spacious (one of the biggest we had during our travel). There was even a closset (a rarity in Japan!). The bed was big enough for two people. Unfortunately, the bed was super hard and did not allow to sleep very comfortably (not recommended for people with general back problems). The airconditioning worked well and did not distrub our sleep. The bathroom has a shower/bathtub, washbasin and toilet all in one small room. There is a daily cleaning service which we liked a lot.

When we first walked into the hotel, it smelled really nice. The room is clean and quiet. It was our first time using the laundry service at a Japanese hotel and it worked out very well. The laundry room is on the 7th floor and there are 5 washing machines and 5 dryer machines. There are English instructions on how to use them. There were laundry racks and hanger pins that we could borrow to dry our clothes, which was super helpful. In terms of location, it’s about an 8-minute walk to Okayama Station, 10-minute walk to Aeon mall and a 20-minute walk to Koraku Garden.

The bed is supposedly a large double but it was very small, compared to other double beds we’ve had at other Japanese hotels. It looked more like a large single bed. The bathroom faucet has the cold and the hot water as separate knobs, which was not super convenient because the water would pool around the faucet.

The hotel is in downtown area close to many restaurants and shops. Staff were very helpful and room was comfortable.

4am on day check in we got a message from the hotel that they needed to charge our credit card second time for full amount or our booking would be cancelled!! It was a mix up with booking but caused me to spend a stressful hour on the telephone with booking while travelling. Booking said hotel didn't understand their policy and sorted it out with the hotel. No compensation or apology was received from the hotel. The clerks at the hotel had poor English skills and maybe this is the reason? Bathroom is functional but could be refurbished, shower with plastic seecurtain etc

- It locates between the main station and Okayama castle, so it's very easy to access both and lots of shopping, food options. - Staffs were very friendly and helpful. I was doing a bicycle trip for 2 weeks, and they were very kind to keep my bicycle case for the time I rode around. They also allowed me to bring my bicycle to my room when staying. Of course a contact beforehand would be still recommended to let them be able to prepare for your needs. - My room space was well cleaned. I also liked some convenient gadgets, e.g., universal charging wire, they provided in the room

The room had more space than the standard japanese hotel and is near to the main train station for the city, also you have many restaurants options and convenience stores. The location was very convenient for the schedule we had in the city.

The air conditioning wasn't working accordinly with expected, we couldn't turn on because the temperature wasn't adjusting for the parameters that we needed. Also a family traveld with us and the accomodation didn't give them an extra bed for their 5 years old child, we thought looking the photos that were avaliabe.

The location of this hotel is very convenient for tourist sightseeing (especially, Koraku-en and the "Crow Castle"), cafes/restaurants to try local food, shopping department stores and local handicraft stores, and museums. Within a 10-minute walk to Okayama Station, one is able to travel easily by local trains to nearby scenic Kurashiki, as well as by shinkansens to Osaka, Kyoto, and all parts of Japan. Our premier corner room was comfortable with very nice amenities. Okayama Koraku offers an alternative softer pillow to the firmer buckwheat pillows. A concern for my husband was the lack of a comfortable chair for relaxing in the room. All hotel staff were welcoming, helpful, and courteous. We highly recommend the varied, delicious, bountiful buffet breakfast! Accolades to the chef and breakfast staff for offering high quality Japanese and Western food items for a reasonable cost.

The hotel was on a perfect location in the city near the train station, with many eating options & shopping close by and a convenience store accessible from the hotel reception with all you could need. Our room was comfortable, clean and roomy with an outlook to the canal & trees. There was an excellent laundry available for guests with many washers & dryers. The breakfast room and offerings were very nice and all staff were kind & helpful, bring very happy to call taxis, respond to requests The price of the hotel was very reasonable for the high standard of the room and hotel.

Really spacious for a Japanese hotel; plenty of space to move around and for luggage. Room was clean and front counter staff was friendly and helpful with our requests. 5-10min walk to Okayama station and about 20min walk to Okayama castle. Plenty of machines for washing and drying.

Furniture is a little dated and could use a bit of a refresh but it didnt bother us much as it’s purely an aesthetic issue; everything still functioned well. Could use with more comfortable pillows though. A money changer in the laundry room would be useful so guests don’t have to travel all the way to the front counter to ask for change.

The vibe is a bit retro but if you like that sort of thing it's an unexpectedly beautiful hotel. I loved the art pieces around the hotel. Extra spacious rooms, I appreciated the humidifier. They have a coin laundry with clear instructions in english as well. The service is fantastic and so is the breakfast (there's both western and japanese options). Location-wise, it's conveniently close to both the station (if you're planning to see Naoshima for example) and the main local attraction, plus it's a minute away from the canal which is so pretty and makes for a lovely walk!

Very spacious, comfortable room with a nice view overlooking the canal. Appreciated having a small table and two chairs. This allowed us to have a light meal in our room. Bed was comfy. Lots of space in the bathroom for our toiletries. Excellent laundry facilities. Washers and dryers were clean and instructions on how to use the machines are in English. Washers include detergent. Laundry baskets, drying racks and clothes hangers are available for guests to borrow. Excellent location, close to train station, convenience stores and shopping mall with several eateries. The Okayama Castle and Handayama Botanical Garden are just a quick tram ride away. Hotel staff were professional, efficient and helpful.

We weren’t very impressed with the breakfast buffet. There were a lot of interesting choices but most of the “hot” foods were cold. After trying it once, we decided to eat breakfast elsewhere. Stand (bagel shop) was quite good and just a block from the hotel. We especially liked their bagel with salmon and cream cheese and bagel with roasted pork pate.
