The location was perfect. Within walking distance of the nearest Metro station and walkable to the main Washington DC sightseeing spots. Georgetown is a great location for mooching about with a variety of shops, restaurants and bars to suit most budgets. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice available. The access to free soft drinks and snacks was appreciated.

We’re used to having the option to make tea and coffee in the room so was a bit surprised not to have this but as it’s freely available downstairs in the communal kitchen it wasn’t a huge drama. Just meant a dash to the kitchen to make coffee before other guests saw you in your pyjamas. The only real negative for us was that whilst the area was quiet for a city, the acoustics of the hotel weren’t the best. You could hear fellow guests quite easily, and they weren’t purposefully being noisy, just opening and shutting of bedroom doors or bathroom fans.

Cute spot. Probably the cleanest hotel/hostel I’ve stayed at, and with friendly staff. I had one of the rooms on the second floor immediately after the entrance. The windows opened to the street, which introduced some noise, and being so close to the entrance I could hear everyone come in and out. There was a noise cancelling machine built into the room, but it didn’t do much for me. The AC didn’t run very well either so the freezing November nights got pretty chilly. I think it’s the perfect spot for a cozy stay in Georgetown if you arrive in mid-spring to enjoy the garden and DC’s good weather. Try to snag one of the quieter rooms in the back of the property!

Primarily the location. It was quiet, easy to get to and in a lovely neighbourhood.

Even though we knew the room would be small, there was nowhere to put our luggage other than on the floor. This made it awkward to walk easily around the bed. The breakfast cereal options were limited. The breakfast cereal choices were high sugar content cereals, except for Rice Bubbles which in itself is tasteless and has little nutritional value. A sugar and fruit free muesli would have been perfect. There were yogurt based options, but again they were sweet fruit based yogurts. A natural yogurt would be a good option to include. A significant concern and surprise was that the cutlery was single use throw away plastic. This bothered us.

For a hotel close to a major city, The Poppy Georgetown Guesthouse is extremely quite and the location is perfect. We stayed in a King Room with Bath - the room was very spacious. The guesthose is within walking distance of Georgetown's many shops, bars and restaurants, including the waterfront. You can also walk to all the main attractions in downtown Washington if you feel so inclined, although it's only a short hop in an Uber. Due to a flight delay, we arrived late at night. Nico was extremely helpful and provided an easy-to-remember door code to make our arrival and check-in as smooth as possible.

As others have commented, I would prefer there to be less plastic waste at breakfast.

A classic Georgetown home converted into a hotel that blends perfectly into the vibe of the surrounding neighborhood. Every detail was considered, we particularly loved the included breakfast spread and self serve coffee machine all day. The keyless entry was a great touch, it was nice to never have to remember a room key upon leaving. We loved sitting out in the back gardens under an umbrella in the rain sipping our coffees, what a surreal and tranquil place in the middle of the city. We have recommended this hotel to anyone who will listen to us since returning home, and we will certainly be returning at our earliest opportunity.

Our room was very close to the breakfast/kitchen area and we could hear the early morning kitchen activity through the wall. Not a big deal.

So cute! Cozy and quaint. Love the snacks. Very clean. Hosts/managers, Nico and John, super friendly, welcoming, and laid back. It totally felt like a guesthouse; you are a guest at someone's house. Nice location, quieter than i expected. Nice walk to the main shopping area, restaurants, the university, etc.

Managing my own parking was a bit of a nuisance because I had to think about it every 2 hours. It is easy to do, but it was a little chore I didn't expect to deal with. If you know a head of time, not a big deal. Had I done my homework, I'd have known this and prepared myself for it.

The Poppy is absolutely lovely and we fell in love with it! It feels like home, and there’s a camaraderie with the other guests that really makes it feel like the Poppy Community - where everyone is in the know about how special this place is. The Parlor is warm and inviting and the decor is fabulous. The Poppy mugs are adorable. The outdoor patios offer a beautiful retreat, and are heated with patio heaters and fire pits. The owners are incredible, so personable, and went the extra mile to ensure we had a memorable stay. Lastly, Georgetown is the most beautiful part of DC, safe quaint and historical. We were able to get anywhere in DC within 20 minutes. A+++ 10/10.

Nothing.

The back gardens of the hotel are just amazing to have in an urban location like Georgetown. Absolutely beautiful. Also, the self-help breakfast and snack area, with snacks, coffee and tea available 24/7, were excellent. A very "live and let live" kind of environment where you can enjoy yourself peacefully. Staff were very nice. Location is superb - in the beautiful, historic Georgetown neighborhood, but only a 10 minute walk to DuPont Circle shops, restaurants and Metro stop.

The room was a bit small and basic; I would next time see if they have a larger room. Also, the system for dealing with getting locked out of one's room needs to be improved. This happened to me at about 11 pm at night, and it took about an hour to get information on the location of a universal key to get in the room.

The location is perfect for strolling Georgetown and DuPont, while being striking distance from the DuPont Circle metro. Parking in the neighborhood was easier than expected. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and the garden would be so fun during warm weather - it’s so pretty and organized into little seating areas - great spot for a little apèro.

I paid for the parking spot but it was occupied when I was supposed to use it (whaaa?) so just parked on the street - usually within one block of the hotel. The breakfast was nice but the pastries could be higher quality, considering all of Georgetown’s options!

Nico and the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, the place itself was very cute and quaint. The outdoor space was lovely (we even saw a bunny). I was able to use a pack n play the hotel had (with an added mattress), and I had diapers delivered prior to my arrival, it worked out great.

If I had to be picky, it's near a few bus stops but it's not close to the metro (none of Georgetown is), and the main area of Georgetown is about a 10-15 minute walk.
