Comfortable and nice hotel with good restaurants and a bar

I forgot a bloc and iPhone charger and the hotel said that they spoke with the cleaning staff and nothing was found. I left it plugged on the nightstand and things just don’t disappear. I know it may sound petty but it’s the principle. A hotel of this standard should enforce professional and ethical behaviors with their staff. Guests forget things and it’s just life, and sometimes we may forget things of value and it’s not ok for the cleaning staff to take them.

Stayed at this hotel for just one night. Our room was clean and had all the facilities that we needed. Fortunately, when we called in, at around 13:30, they were able to allocate us a room, so we could unload all of our luggage, and go off and enjoy the rest of the afternoon, at the attraction that we'd intended to visit, without the security issues of leaving property in our car. Our room on the 6th floor was a little on the small side, but had a wonderful view. Shower was excellent, and the bed comfortable, so we got a good night's sleep. We didn't eat at the hotel, so can't pass comment on the hotels facilities.

Although it's a fairly high class and quality hotel. It's a bit pricey! 😬 But, if you want it, and can afford it, the quality is well worth paying for.

Guest room accommodations were wonderful and very classy-just what I would have expected from the Hotel Roanoke! I really like the respect for the history of the hotel-you can see it everywhere! Costs were a bit high but I understand this was a peak weekend due to weddings and the VT game.

There was not enough staff for the lobby bar to give good or even adequate customer service when folks came back from the weddings and the game Saturday evening. We were there earlier and it was ok, but later it was VERY difficult to get served in a timely manner.

Convenient location, close to downtown Roanoke via pedestrian bridge over the railroad, yet easy access from I-81. We always use Hotel Roanoke for our mid-trip stop overs when traveling north/south along I-81. The front desk agent was very kind by offering to relocate our room from the king we had booked (which was only available on a floor where guests from two large wedding parties were staying) to a two double bed room on a different and quieter floor — we took advantage of that change and really appreciate the thoughtfulness of the front desk. Dinner in the hotel dining room was superb with fine food and also an excellent three piece band and dance floor.

Pricing fluctuates widely depending on fill factor as is common for all hotels, but its disappointing that repeat travelers choosing to stay at this hotel for one night are forced to pay premium prices driven by large wedding parties. The room rate was triple most other hotels in the area this trip and in the future we will have to consider other options.

I loved the room, it was clean and for the most part quiet. I also loved the pool, it was relaxing and the environment was peaceful, loved the hot tub. Lastly, I really liked breakfast, for the many different options and self serving, I didn't have to wait as long as I would at a normal diner.

I didn't have a lot of dislikes, for the exception of parking. Could have been closer. Maybe a more pronounced exit, we struggled to find it. Other than that it was and a wonderful/peaceful stay, would stay here again!

Dinner in Pine Room exceptional and very accommodating. Waitress, Penny, was great. Оn the other hand, breakfast was tired, dry and not tended to at 10 AM (supposed to be available until 10:30). Hostess preoccupied with putting in tickets when we arrived and took way too long to get seated. 20% tip automatic add on a buffet unacceptable.

Breakfast on Mother’s Day.

The room was very nice, spacious. The bathroom was a bit small but expected in an older property. The hotel itself is beautiful. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy any of the restaurants, so no comment there. They did however look beautiful, white tablecloth, set very well.

We asked for a room away from the elevators and were given one directly BEHIND the elevators. The guy at check-in must have thought that was pretty funny.

The foyer is amazingly beautiful. We were greeted by name by the best concierge I’ve ever had in a hotel. He told us all about the hotels history. We ate a late dinner in the bar restaurant, fireside, and it was delicious. I wish we had more time to check out the rest of the property!

Room was a little dated but we expected that. They are currently renovating. The bedroom was nice, but the bathroom was a little cramped and the toilet had a very weak flush.

I was very impressed with the architecture and design of the hotel itself, especially the interior and artwork in the lobby/reception area. My room was appropriately styled to match the historical but luxurious nature of the hotel. Additionally, the hotel has a skybridge connecting to downtown Roanoke over the train tracks; very convenient.

My only complaint is that my room was a bit smaller than I anticipated. This is at no fault of the hotel as it was merely an expectation. The room still provided ample space for everything I needed and was disappointing in no other way.
