Locatation wise. It's near Shinkyo, and the Shinkyo bus stop (main bus routes go through) is just in front of the entrance. Perfect room. Clean. Spacious for 3 people group. Everything for a stay is prepared. Impressive quilt. Nice staff. Thankful answers about the restaurants open late(the restaurant closes early and the town becomes a ghost town at 5pm), and the places to wear yukata and slippers(a bit surprised). The staff is very honest that the public bath is not onsen. Quiet for good sleep (maybe because the rooms are not occupied with tourists in winter )
WiFi is not fast. The after checkout luggage storage is only available before noon

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was quite large and had a window with a view. The hill of beautiful Nikko shrines was right on our doorstep, so we got to visit them in the evening, all day, and the morning before we left. There are places to eat and get food right there too. And leaving, it's all downhill to the train station! The hotel onsen was a nice place to warm up after being out to see the sights in the snow.
We accidentally booked a smoking room because we aren't used to hotels that have them, so be sure to check what you book!

Literally a few steps away from Shinkyo Bridge bus stop. And walking distance to Shinkyo Bridge itself. A great base to explore Nikko on both sides (towards Yumoto or towards Kinugawa) as it's in the central area. Staff is always ready to help even if there's a language barrier. Great onsen to dip in after a long day. The room is spacious. We dropped our bag prior to check in time as we were heading towards the Yumoto area in the morning and when we arrived back to the accommodation, our bags had already been brought inside our room!
The en suite toilet has no bidet and unlike other places, we couldn't flush the toilet paper.

Very nice japanese style room, spacious, comfortable futons, free teas available all day, all the amenities there including coffee and croissant in the room. Onsen is with gender split and I did not have any problem of overcrowdness. There is one pool for females, with all amenities like shampoo hairdryer etc. I enjoyed the time there a lot
Nothing really, just pay attention to the fact that there is no resturant inside and most resturants around close early so plan your dinner

The place is ideally located to explore the main attraction in Nikko : the temple grounds. Just keep in mind the place is a good 20 minutes from the train station with a gentle but steady climb. Staff is very helpful and the onsen is really good
It's not the hotel fault but one has to keep in mind that a lot of businesses in Nikko are oriented towards daily visitors so there aren't a lot of places open at night to have a good dinner. Still enough to eat plenty within reasonable walking distance.

Loved this hotel and felt very at home. Rooms big enough. I would recommend it. The staff were friendly and offered assistance. We liked it as it was closer to shrine etc - quick walk or bus stop across the road to shrine. Lots of places to eat street food. If you buy nikko pass you can catch bus from station to hotel. We walked which is up a slight hill so be aware. I would stay here again though and liked the location over closer to station. Onsen was also great.
Nothing.

Japanese ryokan next to the Unesco world heritage sites. Our room was big as it was for max 4 person. This ryokan has no meals (no breakfast, no dinner), but they provided maps indicating places to have breakfast and dinner. As a surprise there was bread, croissant and coffee in a basket available in the room - enough for European continental breakfast when one buys orange juice from a convenience store. In the common area there was an automate which provided japanese tea as hot or cold (4 alternatives). Also a microwave was provided in the common area, handy if one prefers self catering hot meal in the room. The public bath, onsen, was also excellent
The ryokan was excellent, nothing to claim expect that the street from the railway station to the ruokan is uphill. We stayed two nights from Saturday to Monday. Some guidance about the Nikko itself. Nikko as town is very small. Temples, etc. close by 16 or 16:30 after which the day tourist goes towards railway station. Shops also close early around 17 -18. On Sunday the crocery shops were closed the whole day and the convenience store (Lawson) and bakeries were nearly empty of food offerings. Limited express train tickets were also not easily available, in Tokio we could not get tickets for the first train (fully booked) and needed to wait over 2h for a train with available seats.

The location was almost next to the beautiful, 400 year old Shinkyo Bridge. The first steps into the extensive Temple grounds are next to the bridge. I walked over as dusk turned to night. It was beautiful! The Japanese style room was spacious and clean
Its location made it more expensive than a lot of places I stayed at in my 3 week visit. It was a little age worn around the edges. The public hot tub wasn’t hot enough.

It’s a 20min walk from the station or take a bus to Bus Stop 7. Use the travel card. The hotel is five mins from the Shrine. I was met by four staff. My room was a smoking one. It was the only one available. But there was not a trace of smoke in the room. Room great and pool on the basement great. Note. Eat early and maybe book a restaurant. I really struggled to find somewhere to eat at 19.00 on a Saturday!

It is very close to the Shinkyo Bridge, and there is bus stop right in-front of the entrance. They got a little bit flexible for early check-in, as we arrived around 1pm. The staff are very accommodating, the onsen bath is a plus. We love the Japanese style room and the street view.
Once you check-out, they wont let you use any washroom, and they keep luggage only until 12noon.
