Holly Lodge is one of the best places we’ve stayed in anywhere. The house is beautiful and full of character. We were lucky enough to have the four poster bedroom which was spacious and the bed was SO comfortable. Slept like a log every night. Breakfast was superb. A selection of cereals with fruit, milk, and yoghurt. Followed by an excellent full Scottish Breakfast with Haggis if you wish. Tea and coffee in abundance and make your own toast at your leisure. Assorted jams including whiskey marmalade which was rather good. There is a relaxed and comfy sun room at your disposal where you can read, think and make a cup of tea. Fiona and Andrew provide a relaxed and homely atmosphere making it a very friendly place. The house is in an excellent position in the centre of Strathpeffer with a 4 minute walk down to the square. Fiona is a tour guide and always has somewhere to suggest you visit or give you help to find places you’re interested in. We thoroughly recommend you stay here if you can when you’re in the area. It’s also excellent value for money. We recommend The Deli on the square for dining. It’s friendly and provides a really good range of meals at a very reasonable price. Visit the Victorian Station which is beautiful and has a dear wee gift shop.

Nothing.

Fiona is such a welcoming host. The room was warm and comfortable, with high quality bed linen that made for a refreshing nights sleep. Breakfast too was fabulous with a fire on in the dining room and a lovely range of food. It was a very socialable affair and lovely to meet some of the other guests who were repeat bookers! Even our dog whisky was well accommodated.

I had been going to suggest the only flaw was the lack of tea and coffee facilities in the bedroom - there is a communal room downstairs where lots of these things are. However as we were packing up we found them so that was our silliness and therefore not really a dislike at all.

Holly Lodge was superb and just the kind of place we love. If you’re looking for modern bright shiny accommodation with all the mid cons and amenities this is not for you. But if you’re looking for quirky, friendly, knowledgeable hosts running a beautiful place in a superb setting this is the place. It’s like walking into an antique shop when you enter the entrance hall. Ancient sporting equipment and other items. The summer room is the same. Toys and games from another era. Books and magazines of all ages along with information about the area. Squigy unkempt shabby chic sofas with blankets for cooler evenings. A fridge and coffee making facilities. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable. In keeping with the age of the house the furniture is old and dark wood. I think we had the main room as we had a 4 poster bed again in dark wood. It faced a large try paned window and what a view!!! It was like looking at a framed landscape picture but for real. The bathroom window was the same. Breakfast was superb served in a dining room with one long table in the centre and smaller ones at one side and at the window. Again quirky items from another age around. The choice and quality of the food was excellent. Fiona is an excellent host friendly and knowledgeable and always available for anything. A wonderful place to stay in a wonderful place. We loved Strathpeffer and the surrounding area. The bistro close by was a great place to eat as was the local hotel. Best to book these in advance though.

Nothing really

Great experience in a lovely and peaceful house in Strathpeffer. Our dogs were welcome and it's truthly felt like home. Thank you all for your lovely hospitality, we will be back.

There was a large Dyson vacuum machine left in the middle of our room when we checked in, the carpet seems clean anyway so we left the Dyson in the hallway.

One of the best stays of our 3 week trip. Fiona's home is historic, charming and the rooms are impeccable. Breakfast consisted of local eggs, sausage, breads and honey from the hives in the back yard. Fiona was very thoughtful and even helped us with a small amount of laundry. There is a wonderful deli just down the road. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality. We loved it!

Holly Lodge was so welcoming and comfortable. Fiona was an amazing host, very knowledgeable about the area and did everything to ensure our stay was memorable. From the amazing breakfasts, to the hot water bottle when sitting in the conservatory. The location is the perfect postcard picture, the views are outstanding. It was very quiet and a great starting place for some lovely walks. Including a walk around the stunning golf course just minutes up the road. I highly recommend Strathpeffer and Holly Lodge and if possible, spend a few days.

We had a very large room with en-suite, with a good sized power shower. The owners description of a much loved family home, was spot on. The house itself has a very interesting history, and a beautiful garden. We had time during our stay to explore Strathspeffer, an old Spa town, and did a lovely drive in nearby Glen Conon where we saw 2 Golden eagles. Cooked Breakfast was made to order each morning, and a range of home produce, from fruit compote to home made jams and marmalade was available alongside bread for toasting, and yogurt and cereals.

Can’t think of anything.

Staying in Strathpeffer is like a throwback to the beginning of last century and staying at Holly Lodge is confirming this feeling. The villa is large, eccentric and with amazing garden and decorations. Our room was huge, with a wonderful view on the valley and a true kind size bed (very comfortable). The breakfast was freshly prepared every morning and was a great opportunity to meet other guests at the enormous dinner table. Fiona, our host, has been adorable and incredibly helpful throughout our stay.
