Quito Ecuador was experiencing 12 hour per day electricity shut off during my stay at this hotel. They succeeded at being creative to stay open and functioning. The staff remained friendly under the most adverse of circumstances. Walter, the main staff person deserves a commendation and salary increase. He seemed to do everything at all hours.

Under the circumstances it’s hard to imagine how they might have improved. A guest has a choice. You could pay double the rate and go to a hotel that has its own electricity generating ability. By staying at this hotel I experienced how life is for millions of Ecuadoreans.

The hotel was really beautiful and very well located. It was the epitome of calm and was so full or character and charm with all of the antique pieces and artisan crafts. We loved the roof terrace with the hammock and fantastic views of the mountains and city beyond. The breakfast was a delight and coffee and tea free lowing. Very kind and attentive staff.

It took a little while for the shower water to heat up - this seemed like we were using a lot of water as had to run it for several minutes each time to get warm water. Once it came through it was constant.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, even to special requests that were fulfilled. Breakfast is great, the view from the dining room is magnificent! Location is also very good, despite the very deep hills, but it's the normal of the area, and doable with a car. You're super close to Fundacion Guayasamin and other attractions that are not historic downtown.

The hot water in the shower was not the best, but we understand that this is the normal in the area.

An extremely helpful and friendly service. Always ready to support and to answer any question. Great support of getting a cheaper transport to the airport via a special app and monitoring of best tariffs.

The room was good the bed very confortable but some décoration was missing to turn it a little bit more cosy.

Walter he was amazing, very friendly and he knows every think, Walter we appreciate your great job.

The staff was friendly and they allowed my friends and I to have separate rooms

Hot watter wasn't working properly, the first day had to shower with cold/ice watter and the other days was just a little warmer. Also there were this tiny beetles on the floor, more than 2 per night.

Staff was very kind and generous. We arrived very early morning and they were kind enough to let us rest in an avaliable room. Close to la Carolina park. Great view from the dining room. Would definitely stay again.

Great combination of old world architecture with modern additions. Staff was exceptional. Complimentary breakfast was a delicious full meal. Houseman Walter assisted with bags, which was really appreciated. Cristina was a gracious host. Very clean and secure property.

Room size. Security. Views from dining hall. Comfortable bed and bedding. Courteous employees.

Hot water was weak. Toilet leaked. TV didn’t work.

Mostly I liked the staff who was very professional and accommodating - I arrived at 2AM and they were very nice about it. The location was perfect for me. It is in a safe neighborhood, close to a great museum and a short walk to shops and transportation. I had great views from both my both my bedrooms ( I stayed there twice). Plenty of hot water at every hour of the day or night. They cleaned my room daily and gave fresh towels. I really like the wooden floors, seems much more hygienic than the average hotel carpet. The room was very sound proof so my sleep was not interrupted.

The breakfast was one of two things that need improvement. It is adequate. I was not asked how I wanted my eggs. These were served scrambled and dry. After three days I asked if I could have them soft boiled. I was told I would get them hard boiled. Oh well. One step in the right direction. I know that Quito has good bakeries. After the first day I requested to not be given the bread as it would have been wasted. I loved the fresh fruit, natural fruit juice and coffee in the morning. I would have appreciated the offer of a second cup of coffee and maybe additional breakfast choices, such as oatmeal or granola
