This place was a great surprise. First of all, the owners are wonderful people. Then, this hotel (more a guest house, with some lodges) is beautifully decorated, and almost entirely made with wood, which makes it very rustic and close to the nature around it. We really loved it, and would have loved to spend one more night to enjoy it a bit longer.

It has to be said that this is a different experience from more conventional hotels. While we loved it, there are some aspects that might not be for everyone, like the fact that the lodge can get a bit cold and humid overnight (we went mid April).

A real gem. Very comfortable large cottage with every home comfort- even a welcoming decanter of sherry waiting in the room. There is a very spacious communal deck with a small pool, sun loungers and tables and chairs. The hosts were extremely friendly and provided lots of information on things to do in the area. Breakfast was delicious and varied- my omelette was one of the best I’ve tasted. It was lovely to sit with an early morning coffee on our large private deck watching a variety of birds on the surrounding trees and weather. We were just sorry to have only one night there. It would have been lovely to use the bbq on our deck. Highly recommend.

The property is so well looked after by Albert and Elza. The grounds are gorgeous too. We had a warn welcome on arrival and our room was well appointed with a lovely shower room, tea & coffee making facilities and a very comfortable bed. They run a well stocked honesty bar too. Breakfast was a buffet of cereals, fruit, yogurt, and toast etc but you also have an option to order from a main menu (included in B&B) which was vast and delicious!! Situated a 2 minute walk to the hight street where you can find shops and a few restaurants. It really is a pretty town. In easy reach of Cango Caves, Olive ranch and a plethora of Ostrich farms! We were overwhelmed with this property and the service. We were upgraded as they had had a cancellation to what was a beautiful room full of antiques and extremely well equipped. The breakfast was excellent and served on the veranda overlooking the river and well manicured garden It was so nice to meet the owners which clearly take great pride in the service they provide.

We were only there for one night but what we saw of the town didn't compel us to return. There are a couple of places to visit such as the Ostrich farm and the caves which are incredibly impressive.

We loved absolutely everything about Riverside Guest Lodge - from the warm welcome to the absolutely stunning lodge. Albert and Elza were kind and very helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay special, even leaving cold water and a chocolate for each of us outside our lodge every evening! The lodge had so much character and charm. We were kept warm with heating, electric blankets and a beautiful big fireplace. The breakfast was delicious and to top it all off we even had our car cleaned both mornings we were there! I cannot recommend this place enough - one of the best holiday apartments we have ever stayed in!

The design of the place is amazing! Many small details that make you feel like in a tiny museum. location also very good - 3 min by foot to few nice restaurants and easy to get in/out of Oudshorn. Really nice hosts that care of any little detail of the visit - we had to leave before breakfast time so the owner arrived very early to give us take away breakfast (which was really good too). Highly recommend to stay there!

There was a cat living inside the house that wasn't mentioned in the blueprint. If you allergic to cats like me - maybe you should find other place. Otherwise this place is 10/10.

First of all, the owners are the sweetest people who Take a Lot of Care of the property. The House is stunningly beautiful und they pour all of their Love into it. We came from a tented Safari and Loved the heated blankets in the bed to warm Up during the night. Take the breakfast because the Love and Care doesnt Stop. We were a group of four and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the Main House but got a glimpse of the Chalets for Families and omg they were spectacular!!! Next time We are going to book one of These ;-)

After we booked the stay, we had a very good contact with the owners and when we met them on arrival, it was great fun to finaly meet them and also that the place was so very nice - actullay much better than we hoped for. They have a lot of things in the rooms and you could get the feeling that it's to much, but for us - we liked it ! The room was very nice, comfy beds and the bathroom seemed to by quite newly renovated. A very good breakfast in the morning as well. We was just in for one ( 1 ) night, but could easily stayed longer. After we left, we got an mail with a lemut saying: We miss you already !! Lovely !

Stay 02/28/24 - 03/01/24 With the Riverside Guest Lodge, Elza and Albert have created a great place to stay where you feel completely comfortable. Very nice, friendly hosts who have managed to create an oasis of well-being with a special taste for the interior, but also for the beautiful outdoor area with terrace, whirlpool and meadow up to the river bank. Even our rental car was washed free of charge by one of their employees. One of the most beautiful guesthouses on our trip of several weeks in SA. We have felt very comfortable here. We will definitely book with Elza and Albert again on a future stop in Oudtshoorn. Eckhard and Maria Germany

Everything about our stay here was fantastic. A lot of thought had gone in to proving everything you could possibly need and more. Albert and Elza are great hosts are were so helpful with booking restaurants (lots within short walking distance) to telling us where to stop for lunch on our next journey. The little extra touches like the welcome drink were lovely and the honesty bar was ideal for when we were on the terrace - highly recommend staying here if you visit Oudtshoorn.
