The staff were lovely, Linzi and her daughter looked after us so well. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The new restaurant is excellent, serving Tapa’s dishes. The hotel was dog friendly and they offered dog beds, and bowls. The location of the property is central to Burford.
The hotel doesn’t have parking although we found on road parking easily enough very close by. The restaurant menu would benefit from an English description of what the tapas dishes were but they staff were very helpful explaining it all to us.

Everything! The location is perfect and the building itself externally and internally was breathtaking, it was like a tardis inside. The staff were so welcoming and more than willing to support. The room exceeded my expectations and they have a cute little snook which holds drinks and snacks. Then the breakfast that was included in my stay, well, it was exquisite, there was a choice and I went for the full cooked breakfast; it comes with a hot pot of whatever you want and refillable cool drinks were available. Also, Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog was a 5 minute drive away so I popped in there on my way home!
That I couldn’t stay longer than the one night as it was for a business trip!

I really loved my room. I switched my lodging at the last minute and was so happy with this find. I loved the style, the texture of the walls, and the way everything was decorated. All the little touches—fresh milk, baked goods, and coffee and teas—were wonderful. They also offered a nice breakfast selection, and I appreciated how they gave you the option for a late breakfast and late checkout, unlike many other places. The staff, for the most part, were extremely helpful and kind—though at times the conversation felt a little awkward, they were still very nice overall. I would happily stay here again and would recommend it to others.
I appreciated that they came in every day to straighten the room and take out the trash—it was always nice to return to a tidied space. However, I never understood why they wouldn’t remove the dirty towels when they were left on the ground. Usually, leaving washcloths or towels on the floor is a sign they should be taken away. I also noticed that some areas, particularly around the coffee station, could use more dusting, and the seating in the dining area could be wiped down more thoroughly.

A wonderfully quirky old building, beautifully designed into a comfortable, cosy and relaxed hotel. The staff are lovely, the breakfast excellent (amazing local produce), and the complimentary pantry (where you can sneak a to-die-for homemade blondie) is a defining touch. Also loved that there was no TV in the room - it made it so easy to have a few days away from news-stress. Highly recommended.
The only downside is the constant traffic on the high street - nothing the hotel can do about that, but they may be able to offer quieter rooms.

The decor was beautiful. The room was comfortable (aircon would be preferred but appreciate the age of the building). The staff were really lovely and friendly. Food and drink fantastic. Will definitely come again.
With there being no mini fridge in the rooms, the pantry is a nice idea but maybe some robes in the rooms would be a good idea so you can go to the pantry in the morning without having to get fully dressed. We just wanted a coffee and to watch the tv in bed but was super early so felt a bit of a shame to have to get fully dressed to walk down the corridor for some milk. Also the lady that checked us in said her computer wasn’t working so took our card details. Wrote them down and said she would keep them confidential. When she took us upstairs to our room she then left the pad with our card detailed written on, out on the bar for anyone to see. Innocent mistake but just an FYI for future bookings.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. Great Bar and superb breakfast as well... real value for money.
Although the room was great the lighting was poor so to shave etc was tricky. My only other concern was when I approached the room the door height was too low and as a result i kept banging the top of my head and I am only 5ft 10! There should be a warning and the area should have a cushion or something installed so if you do bump your head it doesn't scratch it as that happened to me on several occasions. Coffee could of been better.

Our experience at the Highway Inn was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. Linzi, the manager of the venue, was an absolute pleasure—so kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. Unfortunately, my wife fell ill after a visit to the nearby wildlife park, but the staff went above and beyond to take care of us. They brought food up to our room and checked in regularly to make sure we were okay. Their kindness and thoughtfulness made a real difference during a tough moment. The entire place has such a friendly vibe—everyone smiles, and there’s a real sense of warmth throughout the hotel. To top it all off, the breakfast was outstanding! We can’t recommend the Highway Inn highly enough. We’ll definitely be back!
Food isn’t served at the hotel on Mondays and Tuesdays, which is a shame—especially since the breakfast was so delicious! It would have been great to enjoy more of their meals during our stay.

Perfect location, on the Main Street. Room decor is beautiful, rooms are clean and well looked after. No drink making facilities in rooms but help yourself pantry more than made up for it- excellent choice of tea and coffee, fresh milk, oat milk, stocked fridge of san pellegrino and home made brownies which were unbelievably good! Dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good also. Check out time was 11am which was great. Hotel is beautiful, would highly recommend.
A little loud at night until around midnight but think that was due to a group of guests staying on that occasion.

Beautiful location, clean, stylish, comfortable
We stayed in room Wish. It had a fire exit door that goes into another room which no one told us about, so we could sometimes clearly hear the people in the other room talking until they tried to open the door (they also didn’t know where the door went) and I had to explain it to them which was awkward. My boyfriend and I felt like we couldn’t comfortably talk after that

Elegant and attention to detail decoration. Substantial breakfast from a great selection. Best poached eggs & sausages I've had in a while. Locally sourced food, nice touch. Gorgeous bedroom called Girl Classy cosy & comfy. Nice smelling toiletries to use in a fabulous shower. Refreshment stand well stocked with great tea pigs & coffee pods. Top ups available in a guests pantry. Lovely touch. Checked in and looked after by great staff. Engaging and helpful. The atmosphere throughout our stay was positive. Staff sounded happy in their job and made time to talk with us.
Bar area had nowhere to have a quiet drink. It was a little overwhelming when full. The courtyard area, I'm sure, helps secure a more intermate drinking opportunity. The staff were great and helpful in allowing us to use the restaurant for a quiet chat.
