I was, unfortunately, not aware that there was a shuttle. The room was great though. The beds were comfy, and they had all the amenities you don't find at pricier hotels: makeup removers, hair protectors, Q-Tips, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, etc. I was incredibly impressed. I had forgotten my makeup removing wipes and therefore used all the ones the hotel provided. I was astounded (and incredibly grateful) that room service restocked everything I had used. Breakfast was fantastic. There were various selections of juices, cereals, yogurt, and fruit. You could make your own waffles. There was coffee, of course - and it was quite good. There were eggs (scrambled & boiled), sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, muffins, etc. It was really fantastic.

Location was my only dislike as it is far from the airport and was a pricey Uber ride to the hotel and back. However, that may not be much of an issue going forward knowing now that there is a shuttle service.

After having our original reservation at a rental home canceled the night before we left for DC, I was in a panic to find something to accommodate our family of 8 with enough beds and space for us to not be on top of each other. I found 2 rooms at Hampton Inn & Suites Alexamdria Old Town that had a description on Booking.com of 2 Queen beds and 1 King so I booked them. When we arrived we were in 2 rooms with 2 Queen beds but no King. After talking with the front desk and Booking.com it appears the description of the room was incorrect on Booking.com. The first night we made due with the rooms we were given & didn't have much hope for getting rooms with more beds since the Suites were all booked for the week, but the next day Mimi and Mario worked magic and were able to get us 2 additional, COMPLEMENTARY rooms with King beds and a pull out sofas for the remainder of our stay!

The air in one room didn't cool the room very well, but the temps were in the 100s.

I liked the breakfast because the bar food was fresh and hot and workers kept the breakfast bar clean. The room was clean and well supplied. Parking was only $10 per night. Location was near the highway and there were several restaurants within 2-3 miles off of the main road.

Wish Breakfast bar had more protein options like boiled eggs and sausage. Bacon, yogurt, and milk were the main proteins. Our room was noisy because we were behind the elevator shaft. Parking was outdoors instead of covered and there did not appear to be security.

The parking lot was very confusing to navigate. The visitor parking lot was full and I was very unsure that where we parked was fine. There were QR codes to pay for parking and I didn’t know if if I need to pay for parking since it was labeled guest parking. I asked the attendant at the desk if I would get a ticket and she said no. Well sure enough I “think” I got a ticket parking there. I say think because I didn’t notice that I had a piece of paper under my windshield wiper until I was going 70 on the highway and it blew off.

We had some pounding in a nearby room every morning. Our view of the a/c bank wasn't award winning. Breakfast is a travesty. Even though there is a good selection of food, it's all pre-packaged frozen, chemical laden food served on paper plates and plastic cups. I know how chemically laden the food was because the staff let me read the packages to check for gluten. While it was gluten free, which the staff was unable to determine, after reading the labels, I didn't want to eat it at all.

Parking is included, the close proximity to Old Town, Alexandria, room was clean and passed my bedbug inspection. Also, management took action when the tenant above me was allowing her kids to run roughshod and disturbing the peace. Props to Cedric for following up with me and resolving the issue.

The stopper in the tub was malfunctioning and wouldn't release, thereby causing water to back up during showers. The front desk promptly issued a maintenance request, but they didn't really fix it completely. I still had to reach down and manually unplug the stopper, but at least it stayed up when I did pull it up so that the water could drain. Also, I was disappointed that the TVs were only equipped with DirectTV and didn't come with built-in access to Netflix, Prime, etc. like most smart TVs nowadays. Had to use laptop to watch movies on Prime, Netflix and YouTube.

Very easy and quick access to downtown Alexandria, probably about 5- minutes, more of course during rush hour. Very good breakfast with lots of options. Room was fine and had better lighting than most today.

Initial entry to the hotel is a little tricky especially at night when your not able to see the lay of the land. The exercise machine with weights & cables (in fitness ctr) was of very limited use because most of the accessories were missing. In addition, one of the two connector links was jammed. One hinge on in room refrigerator had become disconnected. Still worked (magnets hold it) but sort of unattached when opened.

The free breakfasts were amazing! They did an excellent job providing a variety of breakfast options -- cereal, fruits, waffle machine, eggs, omlettes, sausage, bagels and crosisants. I was very impressed with the free breakfast. Most hotels do not have this good of a breakfast.

Bathrooms could have been a tad bit cleaner. I wish there was a fan in the bathroom. I believe that you might have had to request cleaning services on a daily basis because we definitely returned without our room being cleaned at all by staff.

It was convenient to shops, restaurants, and waterfront

Only thing I didn’t like was the smell. When you first walk in room, has an old smell or something. Maybe need to vacuum with a carpet freshener or need to use some type of room freshener to make room smell more pleasant. I had to buy a plug in to freshen the smell. Also in fitness room, same thing, smell like something old. Don’t know if it’s the carpet or what, needs a fresh smell.

The breakfast was FANTASTIC, and the evening hot cocoa bar was an excellent surprise. Staff were very friendly and professional. Loved the beauty products provided in the room—it looked like I had visited a salon for a professional blowout using their shampoo and towel-drying my hair.

I didn’t like that I had to pay for parking. Even with the discount code for hotel overnight guests, it was still like $10/night.
