- This hotel is beautiful, cozy and so peaceful. From the room design to the lobby and restaurant, always with a view of the serene courtyard - I wish I could have stayed longer just to relax and take in the atmosphere a few more days. - The location is excellent, with just a 10 minute walk to the Kintetsu train station with connections to Kyoto, Osaka and more. Also in walking distance are most of Nara’s sights: Naramachi with lots of shops, restaurants and breweries, many shrines and temples, and Nara Park (with deer hanging out right outside the hotel doors). The pagoda was under construction when we stayed but would have been a beautiful view right from the rooftop terrace. - The food was delicious. I still dream about the onigiri rice balls we had for breakfast. Unlimited tea, coffee, juices, beer, whisky soda and other drinks was really nice to have. - The wood chip foot bath was an intriguing new experience and very nice after a long day of walking around town. - It was great to be able to choose the level and frequency of housekeeping. - The included walking tour was great; our guide showed us beautiful spots to take photos and pointed out interesting facts that we would have missed otherwise. - My husband smokes and was very appreciative of the designated spot on the rooftop where he could go without bothering anyone. - The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were so nice. I really felt a difference in how soft my hair was after I used it. - The pyjamas were the most comfortable. I wish I could have bought a pair to bring home! - The hotel’s focus on sustainability. - The chickens.

- The snacks could have been more substantial. I felt bad unwrapping many tiny cheese and sausage bites that were individually packaged in plastic. That’s it! Everything else was perfect.

I received amazing service from the hotel, I celebrated a marriage proposal that day. The hotel and the staff arranged for me wine, flowers, balloons, a greeting sign and a cake (for a fair fee) and made the day perfect. They made sure everything was perfect and made sure we were satisfied. They also wrote us a personal greeting in honor of the exciting event that I will remember forever. Beautifully designed hotel with tasteful accent of Japanese wood. Lovely facilities with spacious rooms and a lovely restaurant that serves breakfast, dinner and has also a small self serving bar for an aperitif. However the best thing about this hotel is the staff. Absolutely lovely, helpful and professional. We had the pleasure to be checked-in by Rie and she was absolutely brilliant. So lovely and helped us settle rapidely so we could be ready for a wedding photoshoot we had on the day.

The only negative thing was that we couldn’t stay longer ☺️

Beautiful wooden hotel. The check in was perfect. Aya was exceptionally king and friendly and she explained everything about the hotel in great detail. The location is great, close to the park (with the deer) and also close to Nara's lively town center.

Our room (305) was great but next to some sort of heating boiler, which made it quite noisy. To the hotel's credit, they offered to change our room (we declined).

Nara Setre Naramachi exceeded our expectations with its charming wooden exterior and cozy interior. The staff's kindness towards my children added a personal touch to our stay. The culinary experience was exceptional, and the added bonuses of complimentary drinks at the lounge and a visit to the chicken farm made our stay truly delightful. Highly recommend for a memorable and family-friendly getaway.

A little expensive, but it is quite ok.

Amazing everything. The staff were great. The location next to the park was unparalleled. Deer wandering past the entrance. Loved the rooms, public spaces (library and records), chickens, all day snacks and drinks including whiskey, beer etc. We had the half board. Dinner and breakfast. Amazing curated menus and local ingredients. Book it! Rooms fit 4 despite what booking.com says.

The design of the hotel was the incarnation of Japanese minimalism and zen spirit, upon entering the hotel and the room you feel immediately the calmness. Breakfast was very sophisticated, and we appreciated the complimentary bar with good selection of beverages. The room was very comfortable, staff impeccable. We really enjoyed our stay!

The room was lovely, the breakfast delicious, and the afternoon/evening snacks and drinks were very nice. Enjoyed the morning walking tour.

The rooftop terrace is really just an area to smoke with some patio furniture in bad repair. There is no public bath or spa.

We came mainly for the location to Nara Park and the train station and was not expecting more than a basic hotel with beds. We were pleasantly surprised with the inner-courtyard for the kids, the restaurant and the general design of the hotel with sustainable wood. We would recommend to anyone staying the night in Nara.

This hotel was exceptional. Amazing staff, location (right on the edge of the park) and food and drink. The room was lovely too as were all the communal areas. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and looked after. The free drinks and snacks in the lounge area were also a very nice touch.

Nothing at all - it was great. We only regretted not booking more nights.
