Great facilities (especially pool), great location, grounds and lobby and common areas. Staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming.

The a la carte food quality was mixed. I ordered the risotto, which was lacking in flavour and my husband's steak was a bit like something from a cheap diner. Also, drinks price transparency needs to be improved. We ended up paying almost £40 for two double gin and tonics, which is steep even by hotel standards. It turned out that this was because we'd pointed to the Tanqueray gin. However, if we'd known how costly this would be compared to other gins we would have chosen an alternative.

We stayed for three nights at the hotel and were very well looked after by the staff, particularly Shannon and Izzey in the restaurant, where the food was absolutely delicious, as was the beer and wine that dinner was washed down with. Everywhere looked clean and well cared for. Our room in the Courtyard was very comfortable and as I have trouble walking it was ideal as it only involved two steps up into our room. There was plenty of parking and even a charging facility for electric vehicles although we had no need for that as we were visiting in a 1938 Austin, called Herbert. Herbert said that he was green so should park in a green parking space, so we let him for five minutes. He could not understand the white car parked next to him with a wire plugged into it for hours! The views from the conservatory were stunning over the valley looking towards Swindon (which was mostly hidden). Although we did not partake there were various interesting games courses in the grounds as well as, I believe, a spa which some guests seemed to be enjoying. This was our second visit to the Cricklade House Hotel and Spa and we will, hopefully, visit again next year.

Firstly - the drive up to the hotel makes it feel so classy! From arriving to leaving, the staff were friendly and attentive and dealt with all my queries and requests quickly. I stayed in room 18 in the courtyard area with my dog. It was a good size and well decorated with a really large bed and with a view overlooking the grounds. As requested, a fan had been left due the hot weather we are/were having which was really needed! Both myself and my rather large dog were made to feel welcome at all times, and he thoroughly enjoyed all the fussing he got from staff and other guests. The grounds are well maintained and ideal to stroll around to relax and take in the surrounding countryside views.

To be honest, I can’t think of anything negative.

Booking in process. Staff brilliant as my wife had a medical issue whilst we were there & they couldn't have been more helpful or understanding. Leisure facilities very good & room facilities are also very good.

Walkway in dining room to bar a hazard as the carpeted step is not clearly marked and I actually tripped resulting in cuts & bruises. Apparently it's not the first time this has happened! Bedrooms looking a little dated & bathroom needing attention as shower leaked over floor & toilet roll holder under sink not a good idea ! No gluten free cereal available despite requesting it when booking !

ROOM 35 - nice size, However the toilet is scratched which just looks unsightly, paint stains and wear marks on the carpet need addressing. Dyson hairdryer - whilst a luxury item, did not work properly and needed replacing which makes it an expensive extravagance. Bottled Water whilst a nice touch was not topped up enough and when asked for replacement the reply was it is locked away which creates a small annoyance. The soft door closers aren't very good which results in the doors slamming shut

Enjoyed our evening meal, food and service very good in lovely surroundings. Swimming pool and changing rooms were clean and accommodating. We had drinks, on arrival, outside overlooking the views which were excellent for unwinding after a long drive.

Move the smokers to the lower level outside the restaurant as their smoke blows straight through the doors into the restaurant, very unpleasant when dining. The waiter very kindly shut the doors for us, but it was a very warm evening and it was a shame to do this, however necessary. It spoils it for diners as they can lo longer experience the fresh air, personally I would ban smoking altogether. Service charge is discriminatory as if you buy a drink from the bar and take it to the restaurant or drink in the bar there’s no service charge however the same drink ordered in the restaurant incurs a service charge. Doesn’t make sense. I disagree with the service charge as the only ones making money from it are HMRC and the banks.

Lovely location, well furnished room, in courtyard, (room 19 up steep steps) good linen, great views from main building. Great location, close to Cricklade town with a good selection of pubs, bars and restaurants.

Would be nice to have a small fridge in the room to keep bottles of water etc. Also room 19 is up steep outside steps of the courtyard, so maybe not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Also, wanted Irish coffees and got lattes with liquor instead. Mentioned to reception staff on leaving and they said they would mention to bar staff.

The breakfast was excellent, a full English breakfast that was definitely worth it! Our room was exceptionally spacious, more like a studio, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The facilities were also impressive, especially the pool and tennis courts. The staff were outstanding! Polite, attentive, and always willing to help. We truly appreciated their hospitality.

The bar is on the pricier side, particularly when it comes to whiskey, individual shots were notably expensive (around £20). I would recommend exploring other nearby options for drinks instead.

When you arrive it looks very plain from the entrance. But once inside it it is far from plain from the smart reception area to the large comfortable it is very nice. When you go into the bar the views from the patio are stunning. The pool and health suite are the smartest I have ever used. Breakfast was excellent.

The bar and restaurant are on top of each other meaning when I sat to have a quiet drink the waiting staff were constantly buzzing around. I also feel although a bar menu is offered you have to sit in the main restraint to eat so nowhere you can just have a casual meal. When I asked the barman he said yes the main restaurant area was the only area to eat in. Seems to defeat the term bar menu.

The staff were very kind and helpful. A breath of fresh air really. The changing room to the pool was very clean, in fact the morning we were leaving there was a member of staff cleaning in there. It makes a refreshing change to go away and the changing rooms in the pool to that clean and well looked after. Pool was really nice, unfortunately it was raining so we didn’t explore further. But the grounds and view were beautiful. Food was nice at our evening meal. Sorbet was lovely. Fresh coffee served at breakfast! Not a serve yourself coffee machine in sight!!!! For which I thank you!!! 😀 Lovely fresh fruits.

Bathroom in our room was a little tired I feel like the quality of the breakfast could be elevated a bit with better quality sausages & bread. Kids chicken goujons could be homemade and different chips served with them as most kids don’t like chunky chips. These things didn’t spoil our stay - just some constructive criticism rather than a moan.
