Beautiful property! Most spacious room of our France vacation. Loved renting the bikes to near Château de Chambord. It was a nice easy ride. The breakfast option was good too.

When we went to have dinner they said they were booked. The hostess was somewhat rude and didn’t seem to care that we had no car and limited options. She said reservations were required. When we tried to use Uber earlier we didn’t get anyone. Later we were able to get someone to another town but had the same situation with a restaurant there… booked. We ended up at a very casual cafe/ bar. Food was ok, the owners were awesome. If you stay at this hotel you must make dinner reservations in advance. And best to take a car or make sure you have a scheduled Uber.

Very little to fault! Arriving at the end of a very long, hot road trip the pool was so welcome, and the reception staff were delightful and very sweetly encouraging of my mediocre french speaking. Our room was small but functional and comfortable, for the price I couldn't have asked for more. Dinner was excellent, and again the service was attentive and patient - I truly don't recognise the hotel described in some negative reviews as it's so alien to my own experience.

I suppose only having one room key was perhaps a bit inconvenient but it was hardly a huge problem. The pool area is small but it isn't a massive hotel, and we had no issues.

We had a lovely stay here. The parking was great, the room was comfortable, and the swimming pool was very welcoming too. We chose it for the convenience of having an in site restaurant, after a long days driving. The food in the evenings was delicious & well prepared.

Mmm…sadly, the bar and restaurant staff seemed disorganised and the service was slow, both at breakfast and dinner. Full Breakfast was not readily available, as there were always lots of empty spaces on the buffet and the fresh juices. A little staff training wouldn’t go amiss. They seemed to be content chatting amongst themselves at the bar. Also, it seemed a bit ridiculous having to pay for the ore meal drinks on a seperate transaction, rather than adding it to the food bill?

This rural hotel has fairly recently had a major refurbishment. As a result the room we had and the public areas are clean, tidy and smart. There is good carparking to the rear of the property. The bar/dining area is formed from a barn, is light and airy, and a very pleasant place to dine and breakfast. On the night we were there the restaurant was busy with guests and locals, the food good, but not exceptional and our breakfast better than the usual 'continental' bread and jam, with cereals, yoghurt, fresh boiled eggs, charcouterie and various breads etc. I would certainly recommend La Clef des Chateaux as a stopover, as it is in easy distance of the Channel ports, or for a longer exploration of the Loire and Cher valleys.

We felt the staff needed alittle more training as the barman had to look-up the making of a G&T and before it got busy there was youthful horseplay which struck as harmless but unprofessional. What really irritated was the loose dog that rushed round and round the dining room. Apparently it was the House Mutt and, thus, forgiven bad behavior. We did not forgive it.

The hotel is recently renovated to a high standard and has a lovely bar, restaurant, pool and grounds. It doesn't look much from the road/street view, and the grounds need to mature, but it is lovely inside. Stylish, quirky and smart, are the best adjectives. The rooms are small but clean, comfortable and perfect for 1 or 2 nights. Think of a cool, quirky, nicer Premier Inn and you're there. The staff were brilliant and dinner was amazing. Fantastic food and great wine. Couldn't complain, especially at the half board rate we paid. All-in-all, if we're back that way we'll stay again. Oh, and if you like beer, try "Le Bete" orangy coloured beer - looks odd but it's delicous!

Only issue was that breakfast was a bit poor. Food was running out and service was very slow.

We loved it! We travelled with our teenage sons and we booked two rooms with little terraces side by side. This made the car park very accessible and easy to pop in and out for a walk with our dog. A lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers. The hotel is clean and very stylish. We had booked the restaurant and we were so happy we did! The staff were so welcoming and eager to please. The food was delicious and of such a high standard. Asparagus soup, the most unusual green salad, and salmon starters. A fresh veg medley which I am still thinking about. We have dined out for a week in our travels down south and this was the best meal. A lovely town where we walked behind the hotel with our dog. Beautiful scenery everywhere you look. Visit the Chambord Biscuit Factory which is right beside the hotel if you can! Also very close to The Chambord Castle which unfortunately we only got to pass. A few more days would be nice in this area.

We loved it but just to note the rooms are a little on the small side. Makes a difference to have a room on the ground floor with the door opening out. A little table and two chairs for morning coffee with these!

Very clean, and comfortable. Light and airy shared spaces. Good location for the local Chateaus, as long as you arrive by car.

We had a few niggles with our stay. For example they don't provide mattresses for their cots. A cot without a mattress is useless - so they don't really provide cots. The restaurant menu is limited and not very varied. Picking something you wanted even for a two nights was quite difficult. They also needed more restaurant staff.

The staff at La Clef were welcoming on arrival. We enjoyed the lovely pool in 30 plus weather and the location is great to get to Chambord Chateau in 5minutes. Lovely quiet location however bear in mind most other amenities are a drive away.

Our room was above the outside of the staff quarters and we had to smell and walk through cigarette smoke each time we exited our room.

Nice complex and surrounding.

From what we experienced during our stay we could see that your bar -restaurant was under staffed, the two waiters were running from the bar to the dining room, to the kitchen and back not really knowing what they were doing. The menu was poor and the food was not great, very disappointing. Despite the chaos, your staff was polite and did their best in the circumstances, they need training and support. The room was small, only one bedside table, very odd!!!

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The communal areas are well designed and furnished/colour coded stylishly and comfortable. (Dining room, bar, lounge are in a restored barn). Everywhere was spotless. The swimming pool, well maintained, is a good size and large towels are provided for customers’ use. There’s table tennis and table football. Travelling with my husband we detoured here, from The Loire Valley cycle path, to stay over so we could visit Chambord chateau. Our bicycles were stored in a secured room. Reading some of the harsh reviews below I am wondering if those reviewers stayed in the same hotel. Good choices at breakfast and all staff were polite, efficient and helpful.

Coffee pods. However, staff were quick to offer properly made coffee. Not a complaint because we were offered, immediately, an alternative. George Clooney has a lot to answer for — stale coffee in expensive small containers to produce. Environmentally wrong.
