Staff and housekeeping were amazing! The location is perfect - we walked everywhere and took the redline to most places.
There were two elevators out of the three and you had to wait sometimes up to 15 minutes for an elevator to be free and not filled with people and you couldn’t fit. The sounds from the streets is crazy - we faced the street and it was so loud. From the fire trucks - to the protestors - to the honking. It was all night long.

It is an absolutely beautiful, historic building in a wonderful location on Michigan Avenue, about 2 long blocks from the Riverwalk one way, and about 3 blocks from Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“the Bean”) the other way. Anything you need you can find just steps away. The staff was phenomenal, from start to finish. Truly, it was the best customer service I think I’ve ever received at any hotel. The beds are comfy, rooms are very clean and well-appointed.
The refrigerator in the room is a chiller, not a refrigerator. It kept drinks cold, but we did not feel like it was safe to keep food as we didn’t know how cold it would get. We did not love the in-room coffee machines. They were little espresso Keurig-type machines for little cups of coffee in small glass tumblers. The coffee was delicious, though. Finally, the hotel is on Michigan Avenue so there is a fair amount of street noise. We expected that based on location, but that may be an issue for some so I wanted to mention it. The rooftop lounge was closed, presumably because of the time of year, so if that’s something you’re looking for, make sure it’s open at the time of year you’re visiting.

What didn’t we like about the property?! The building and all the amenities were beautiful. The cafe, restaurants, lounge, bars, all just perfect. The rooms were quiet and comfortable and oh so clean! The concierge, front desk and the valet were so welcoming and helpful! The complimentary car was the perfect added touch. We would 100% stay here again and recommend it to everyone. It’s located in the perfect spot and so close to everything! I could go on and on…
There’s nothing we didn’t like. Oh, the espresso machine in the room if I HaD to pick something haha.

The location was fantastic. We paid for an upgrade and got a corner room on the 31st floor, overlooking the waterway. The staff were so accommodating and helpful. We were minutes from the Riverwalk, River North, and Streeterville areas where there were lots of shops and restaurants. It was easy to take transportation anywhere. Nice welcome drink! Thanks to Muriel for making us feel welcome!
The sirens, from emergency vehicles, were frequent throughout both the day and night. We particularly did not appreciate hearing various cars ripping through the streets during the night. It warranted wearing ear plugs to get a "quieter" sleep. Aside, we would have liked to enjoy the rooftop area, but it was closed due to construction reopening in Summer 2024.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, The lobby was beautiful and the art deco architecture was great.
The room was too small, the pictures on the web were quite deceiving. There was only one chair (an office chair at that) and if it was occupied anyone else in the room had to crawl on the bed to get around it. The door on the closet could not open all the way due to the bed being in the way. The closet was actually a giant wooden box, it felt very out of place and did not enhance the room in anyway. I expected noise from the street as we were downtown Chicago, however when the train went by on the L the room seemed to rattle and woke me up several times a night.

Front desk staff were excellent on all accounts, including door, car service, bellhop, and bar staff. Was pleasantly surprised at the value for our breakfast at the Venteux, the fried mini potatoes were amazing. Loved the walkability to everything we wanted to see, including a concert at Soldier Stadium and Cubs game at Wrigley Field. I looked into buying a pillow (from the online store) because it was so good, but it doesn't appear that they ship to Canada.
The heat!! But I guess as a hotel you don't have much control over that. We were a little disappointed that our room was only on the 4th floor and didn't have much of a view, but we made up for it by just getting out to see more.

Great location. Stayed here on my wife’s birthday trip. It’s a terrific boutique style hotel. Staff were very friendly, food was excellent, rooms very comfortable and a fantastic roof top bar. Downside was the a/c unit is quite noisy in room and we weren’t told we had to reserve the outside roof top bar. Nothing that was a major issue though. We would certainly consider using the hotel again.
Air conditions unit noise Not being advised at checkin that we had to book the roof top terrace - for anytime ! Booking.com not being clear that the ‘breakfast included’ part only extended to an allowance!

The Pendry was probably the most comfortable hotel I've ever stayed at. We certainly did not want to leave after our five days there. Our room was beautiful and very clean
The wifi was pretty slow. The elevators in the lobby go to different parts of the hotel and as we were with many family members all over, it was extremely difficult to get to each other's rooms, as our keys did not work in all elevators. We were on the 30th floor in the Tower and the windows are double paned, but it was still noisy with sirens or loud music below. We didn't hear ordinary traffic from that height. We didn't mind, but others might be awoken by the noise.

When I first saw the Pendry two summers ago after walking through the first floor, I knew I wanted to stay there. A bonus is the location--only blocks from the South Shore Train Station's last stop at Millennium Park. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to--including Chicago's River Walk, Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Institute, Chicago Cultural Center. The Art Deco architecture and interior decor exudes glamour and class, and we felt important staying in this hotel. The bedding and pillows were top-notch. The bathroom had a magnifying makeup mirror, always a plus. Instead of a coffee-maker, the room had an espresso machine. We enjoyed the brunch at Venteux, as well as the welcome cocktail! The best part was being able to check in and get into our room before noon and to stay until check-out. This made our stay in Chicago even better.
The chains on the window shades were stiff and should be oiled. A little WD-40 works wonders. It would have been nice to be able to go to the rooftop before evening hours. The rooftop was reserved for a private event on the day we checked in, so we never were able to get up there.
