The housekeeping policy is a bit odd and I don't think it works. Our room needed a repair here and there and some sprucing up. Despite that, I'd go back again anytime.

The location was great! We were able to get to and from O'Hare on the Blue Line. Close to Michigan Ave so close to all the major tourist attractions. Most attractions were easy to walk to. Lots of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Across the bridge from Architecture Riverboat Tours and across the street from the bus stop that took us to the Museum of Science and Industry. Staff we interacted with (Tony and Pedro) were wonderfully helpful! We enjoyed our stay!

The sliding bathroom door in our room was a little funky. The fan in the room was a bit noisy going on and off during the night.

We were on the 30th floor with a view on the river, where we could also see the sunset. Magnificentl!

There is no daily room service an the furnishings are rather dated, but comfortable nonetheless

Great location, fantastic team - special shout out to Jock, Pedro and Ronnie who are a great example of how to do hospitality. Our room was perfect for our group of 4 adults and a child - we booked a 2 bedroom suite which also had a sofa bed, 2 bathrooms and decent kitchen appliances. I liked that the bathroom had big refillable bottles of decent amenities, and also a filtered water filling station with refillable bottles by the elevator - nice to see some efforts towards sustainability. The hotel is in a beautiful old building over the road from the river with its riverfront walk, bars and boat trips. It’s a short walk to the millennium park, giordinis for Chicago deep pan pizza and… who knew, the world’s first (and only) Nutella cafe (which my daughter loved). Checkout wasn’t until 12 which was nice and we could leave our bags in a locked storage room. Also we arrived an hour or so before official check in time which was a nice bonus.

The staff were very pleasant, especially Pedro who welcomed us when we arrived. The amenities were quite impressive especially the water station on the floors. Our room had a kitchenette which was great and a Nespresso machine for our coffee hit first thing in the morning!! The bed was comfortable and clean. The location was very convenient. All the Chicago sights were walkable and there were lots of places to eat and shop in the area. The check in and out process was also very quick and easy.

Unfortunately, there was only one working elevator during our stay which was very frustrating for all guests. People were trying to cram into the one elevator which I think serviced floors 10-36! That was not pleasant. The rooms, whilst clean were a little dated and are in need of a refresh.

As we were staying for 6 nights we booked a 2 bedroom suite and it was absolutely perfect, just a little bit more room to spread out and feel comfortable. The coat hooks spread throughout the room were great especially travelling in winter and having to layer up because of the cold. We didn’t have a car so wanted something central that we couldn’t walk everywhere and River Hotel was perfect for that. We walked everywhere, even in the snow along the riverwalk at 9pm to watch the fireworks at Navy Pier. Oh and the free guest laundry was amazing especially when you are travelling for 6 weeks and need to do washing.

We loved everything about the hotel

Great location - right on the Riverwalk, close to a lot of sights and easy to get to from the airport. Comfy room - even a couch, office table (small Queen room). Mini fridge & coffee pods. Coffee / water available in the upstairs lobby area. Easy self check in & out. Helpful & friendly staff. Had a request prior to my stay & got a fast response and the staff helped me out with the request.

Air con / heating - quite loud, so might be disturbing if you have to keep it on at night. TV in the room kept having signal issues. While everything looks modern but bit worn down in places.

Front desk staff were very friendly and professional. Enjoyed the complementary filtered water. Elevators were relatively fast compared to other hotels. 2nd floor tele-office spaces were the best i have encountered. Lot of marble in the lobby. Location was perfect for the recommended river and lake cruise, and visiting Cloud Gate (aka "Bean") at Millennial Park. Enjoyed walking the river walk along the Colorado River just outside the hotel. Appreciated the discounted parking.

GPS had difficulties getting to the hotel due to GPS highrise interferences. Parking was several blocks away. Did not have a refrigerator or microwave in the room.

I’d give it a 12 out of 10 if I can!! Superb customer service - the staff there are all so professional and kind and look genuinely happy. Check in/out process is easy - a lot like Citizen M but does not feel that tech heavy. The atmosphere is welcoming. Several details I like: FREE and clean laundry service, which made things so much easier for my multi week long travel; ice machine and vending machine; water fountain on every floor; second floor lounge area with free coffee which you don’t need a card to get access to; amazing location. Though my room is small without a window (cuz it’s called “small queen” it really didn’t bother me.

The staff were AMAZING! They were so incredibly accommodating, helpful, kind, and FUNNY! They helped us with every single thing we needed! The location was PERFECT! You are right by the beautiful Chicago River and can easily walk to ALL major Chicago sites, or take the train. The rooms were comfortable and ours had a wonderful view. If you’re a “hot” sleeper, ask for a room below the 11th floor. The building is a beautiful historic but completely updated one. We LOVED staying here and would absolutely go back!
