The most favorite part is the private onsen, it is very nice to come and soak in the onsen after snowboarding. Mr. Nanjo is very kind, he helped us with many things. The view around the hotel after the snow falls is very beautiful. If I go to Hakuba again, I will definitely stay here again. The twin room I stayed in was not very big and was right next to the stairs, so I could hear people walking at night and in the morning. But I really liked that there was a microwave and a kettle on the second floor.

The ski storage room is a bit small. On the day I stayed, there were a lot of skiers, so there was hardly any space for storage. I would like to have a washer and dryer, it would be very convenient.

We really enjoyed Anise Garden. Nanjo and his wife keep the place absolutely spotless and are so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are larger than other Japanese accom that we have stayed in and it had everything we needed for our 4nights. We had a slight hiccup at the start with a lost bag in the uber and before we could even ask Nanjo was calling the company and didn’t stop helping until we located it and got it back. The private onsen is amazing! You can relax outdoors Or indoors and the products to use were really nice. Nanjo was so generous and smiley all the time. It is our honeymoon and he gifted us a bottle of wine for our journey. 10/10 service and accommodation. The location is just a short walk from Echoland and about 20mins walk from Happo.

The rooms although were dated had a nice cosy feeling to them, bathroom included in the room was a bonus and something we didn’t know we would like. The bathroom included in the rooms don’t have a bidet fitted to them but a quick walk downstairs Nanjo san has a toilet with a bidet. Also the onsen included was a treat, after a long day at the snow the onsen was perfect to unwind and relax the muscle and get ready for another day of riding But the host on the other hand he was magnificent some of the best customer service, speaks English well and seemed to care about all of his guests and would always have a chat to me after I came back. Overall this place has a nice cosy feel to it and is close enough to Echoland but far enough to enjoy the serenity without hearing people chatting outside like in echoland

The place looks new and clean. Room is well heated spacious. Just nice for 2pax with our snowboard equipments. Love the outdoor onsen. Has a small drying area, don’t see an area for waxing. 3-5mins walk to the shuttle bus station for the ski resort.

It’s a tedious walk from Jaja echoland (13mins) with all our luggage’s because of the snow and ice on the road. No steep uphills thou. Also we made a mistake of booking a 7am bus out from Happo bus terminal as the earliest shuttle starts at 8am+ and you can’t pre book a taxi. It’s a gamble whether you can find a taxi in early morning. In the end we changed our plan, took a later bus.

Nanjo, our host, was most helpful and friendly! He drove us around a couple of times, to catch an early bus from the Happo 1 terminal to Cortina resort, and, to meet our shuttle back to Tokyo when we were leaving. The place was within walking distance to many places to eat! We ate in a different place, lunch and dinners, for nearly 2 weeks! All of them very good to excellent! The free ski shuttle to the nearer resorts is a 5min walk down the street. The onsen, an inside and outside one, was excellent!(although a little hot for me..) It was great having our own ensuite!

It would've been good to have a communal lounge in which to relax after skiing, rather than be in our room all the time. The beds, although we like them hard, were a little too hard in the center. The heater, although efficient, was a bit noisy right near our heads, and a little smelly of kerosine.

The junior suite is very big, very convenient, separated between bedroom and living room, there is 1 bathroom and another room with bathtub. We were lucky enough to stay for 4 nights with our 12 yo twins, and absolutely loved everything about our stay at Anise Garden. Nanjo San was friendly and kind and nothing was too much trouble. The location was great, about a 7 min walk (in the snow) to the 7-11, 15 mins to Echoland and 25 mins to Happo. It was such a joy waking up each morning to fresh powder and even better to have a hot private onsen each night after a big day on the slopes! Definitely recommend 👍❤️

Mr Nanjo was an extremely accommodating host and the service was second to none. The property is in a quieter part of town which is absolutely breath taking to walk around - just one block away from the river with amazing views, birds chirping of a morning and a short stroll to Echoland or Happo for easy access to food and convenience stores. We were able to borrow bikes and explore, the shuttle bus had ceased for the season and we were offered lifts at the start and end of day which was unexpected and very much appreciated. We were also lucky enough to see monkeys on the way to Hakuba47 one morning!

It was so cute! It looked like a cute cottage in a winter wonderland! I liked how homey it felt!! The owner was so nice and he really helped me with everything! The poor man had a sling around his arm yet he helped carry my bags and allowed me to check in early without any extra fees. This place made me feel less lonely and more like another home! I would definitely stay again! ありがとうございます!

The only thing was the bed was slightly hard and bouncy but overall it was wonderful! I absolutely loved it!!!

Nanjo was a great host. He was very helpful. We loved the onsen and the location. He wasn't able to make breakfast or pick us up from the train station because he broke his wrist, but that was fine.

The rooms were a bit small and didn't need the TV in there and 2 chairs that took up space. A trash can near the tea and coffee would be great. It would also be nice if there was a toaster in the dining area and more tea choices.
