I absolutely loved everything about my stay—from the cleanliness of the room to the attention to detail, the delicious food, the friendly and attentive staff, and the excellent facilities. I originally booked the Petit Room, but they kindly upgraded me to a better one, and it was perfect! The view was stunning, and the bed was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The spa was also fantastic, offering a truly relaxing experience. Plus, the hotel provides free parking, which was a great bonus. Highly recommend!

I booked four massages, and in my personal taste and experiences, those were not the best treatments I’ve received in terms of the technique performed, so I received two, and then I cancelled two. Though I believe this point can be very subjective.

This hotel wasn't just a place to stay, it was an experience. From the breathtaking design of the interiors to the iconic architecture of the building, it exudes elegance and sophistication. We loved curling up with a book by the cozy fireplace in the lounge, surrounded by a curated collection of reads. The breakfast buffet was a delightful surprise, offering a vast array of healthy options. The à la carte menu provided even more choices, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the vibrant green juices, the colorful fruit selection, the perfectly toasted sourdough with smoked salmon, and the fluffy cheese scramble eggs. And of course, no Portuguese breakfast is complete without a divine Pastel de nata and an espresso macchiato. The staff was exceptional. They were not only professional and efficient, but also genuinely friendly and helpful. They made us feel like valued guests, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The complimentary shuttle boat was a game-changer. We had a picturesque ride from the hotel to the central Port of Gaia, the perfect starting point for exploring Porto. The charming Smart car pick-up from the Sé was another unexpected treat. This exceptional service truly elevated our stay. ...And just when we thought things couldn't get any better, we entered the breathtaking spa. With luxurious facilities and distinct sections dedicated to Turkish baths and hammams, it was a haven of pure relaxation. We indulged in the soothing steam and heat, allowing our worries to melt away as we revealed in the spa's tranquility. If you're a runner or cyclist, you'll love exploring the scenic network of paths all the way to Gaia. Just ask the staff to show you how to leave the hotel from the back. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. It's a haven of luxury, charm, and exceptional service.

I would suggest that a towel radiator in the bathroom would be great so we don't have to ask for new towels everyday.

It is a beautiful hotel and the interior design was really cool. I loved how relaxing it was and the setting next to the river was perfect. Hannah and Marta made our stays really special by going that extra mile. Marta got super friendly with our little boy and it was so lovely getting to know her.

The noise from the bedrooms on and evening is quite loud, we asked every night for them to turn the music down and they did without any hesitation….perhaps this could be something that’s looked at. Compared to the staff in the restaurants and by the pool, the staff on the reception are a little cold.

Very good breakfast, staff excellent, we were lucky with weather and be able to have it on the terrace, great views of Douro and immaculate gardens. Restaurant food and service were excellent. To visit a city like Porto but be able to stay in a location such as this was a great bonus, also to be able to take the hotels water taxi into Porto was amazing.

to be honest everything exceeded our expectations, but one thing I would say is do you really need to play music around pool and gardens.

Location Cleanliness Facilities Staff service

I booked a room which was supposed to have a river view and unfortunately the room was facing a roof. Complained about the lack of the river view and we were taken to a different room which had a river view but it was more of a Down grade. As this room is actually a loft and connected to another room. As the hotel was not fully booked during our stay I am sure we could have been given a much better room. The reason I paid for the river view was how the rooms were being advertised online. I could have just paid for a simple deluxe room.

The property has a lovely view, Nice grounds. Well kept. Pool is very nice. Restaurants very good, Although only one was open for our stay.

Getting to the property is confusing and you really don’t want to leave the grounds. They offer a shuttle, via boat, to Porto, but you have to get back on your own.

This was a spectacularly beautiful hotel and property. We feel very lucky to have found this place and to stay away from the busyness of Porto. Just a relaxing haven to come back to. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. We were in the historic house with river view.... and the gorgeous garden. The staff was exceptional! The food at breakfast and for dinner was delicious with loads of choices. I will recommend to anyone i know who is coming to Porto/Gaia area! THanks so so much for an excellent stay!

Enough to eat for breakfast and could also choose from the menu for hot food. Staff were attentive to your needs. All waiters had an excellent knowledge of spoken english. 1 gastro restaurant and 1 brasserie to meet the needs of everyone, and the bar was super.

Everything very good, just one minor detail is that in the breakfast room which is also where lunch and dinner is served the place mats should not be out of straw/wicker as very difficult to get food out of there when people making crumbs or spilling, this could be a haven for bacteria and mites. A solid flat place mat whereby cleaning is simple would be much more appropriate. Also white serviettes, the same which are out on the terrace would be ideal, as the serviettes used were more like what many people use as dusters. Forgot to add that the gardens were excellent, but all the water features at the front of the hotel and all the ponds should be cleaned out and worked on, (very dirty and green) as this didn't improve the gardens.
