Excellent hotel with 24 hours reception. It's located within a 2 minute walk to the beach, on a main shopping street. Supermarkets and restaurants are very near. The hotel is very ergonomic, safe for toddlers. Breakfast is excellent. I especially appreciated Portuguese cakes, and lactose -free milks. Our family room was very spacious. TV had many channels, including English spoken. The hotel qualifies for 4 stars.

Montegordo is a tourist town and not really to our liking but it has many hotels and this one is on the edge of 'tourist central' and is surprisingly quiet. Short walk to restaurants, bars, cafés, mini mercados and beach though. Free parking out front is a huge plus in a town where parking is scarce. Mind you, I think you have to pay during high season and free parking only begins early September from what we know. Hotel may have some reserved spaces though but you would have to ask the hotel in advance if that is the case. We were allocated Room 201 which was huge, entrance lobby, bedroom, and large bathroom. On a corner of the building so you get a balcony on 2 sides. Breakfast is good and freshly squeezed fruit juices are a plus. Wi-fi was pretty good.

Lack of atmosphere, doesn't have the vibe of a well peopled hotel but the building is mostly apartments and hotel rooms are much fewer. Hence lacks a bit of soul. Not a lot to dislike really, it's functional but wouldn't like to stay for a week. No pool or outside relaxing area.

Nice breakfast, definitely bigger choice than expected ! We got upgraded to a bigger room by a very pleasant man working on the front desk when we arrived which was a nice surprise. There is a balcony in the room

The pillows in the bed were horrible. There was a choice of two but none of them was really comfortable to sleep on. Hard as rock :) Other than that nothing that we would complain about ! Enjoy your stay there

Great central location, between the boardwalk and the train station. Pedestrian walkway starts where the hotel is. Breakfast was an added bonus.

While the bed was good, I found the pillows hard. I actually took the pillow cover off one of the pillows and put it on one of the “throw” pillows on the bed.

Close to beaches, cafes, restaurants etc. Spacious room with king size bed.

No kettle, complimentary beverages etc. Only stayed in this one hotel in Portugal so don’t know if this was the norm. The very large Navegarvos Hotel complex overlooks & dominates Hotel Paiva - be prepared for some sights from your the leisure of your balcony!

This is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at, at an exceptionally good price. Valter was particularly helpful and spoke perfect English. The included breakfast was a banquet with endless fresh orange juice included. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. The hotel is easy walking to a wide fine sand beach through a nice walking only road with many shops and restaurants. It is simply a lovely hotel.

We arrive very late in the night and the receptionist was extremely helpful. As well as the lady helping with the breakfast. The beds are huge and for a 3 star hotel the breakfast is wonderful.

Staff, breakfast and rooms

The location is good, and 5 minute walk to the beach only. The breakfast was very good and fresh every morning. The staff was very friendly with good English, and especial thanks to Valter.

Friendly, helpful staff (thank you Miss Marta!!!) very clean; fabulous breakfast: lots of variety, very fresh, amazing freshly squeezed Algarve orange juice: thank you Miss Eva!!! Air conditioning worked great. Balcony was lovely.

Elevator very small and very slow. Bed mattress very hard. Wished we’d had a shower stall instead of a bathtub as it was a little challenging to get into.
