We liked the cabin arrangement with the privacy of its own pretty garden. The living space was very comfortable and peaceful. The hotel itself was a delight, especially the gardens where it was evident that a lot of care and attention is given to its maintenance. Perfect setting for weddings and family gatherings ! Every guest is well catered for both at breakfast and dinner with a wide choice of menu. We found the all the staff friendly and very obliging.

The only issue that we experienced was a problem that arose with the shower. We were unable to control the temperature of the water which was scalding hot and therefore rather dangerous. On busy days it would be advantageous to have more staff for table service.

The rooms was beautiful and we had a lovey surprise when we entered the room for our anniversary. The staff were very friendly and it was a lovely day so we were able to sit outside in the gardens for a drink or two. The decor was very tasteful and we had a sneak peak in the wedding reception area which was stunning. Overall we will be returning and can’t wait till we do. Thank you to all staff.

They allow people to smoke right outside the conservatory doors where you eat your meals. We had to ask for them to shut the door. Ideally there should be a designated smoking area away from the main doors. The evening meal wasn’t on par with the Hall. It definitely could’ve been better, not to the standard I would expect.

Staff were very helpful and friendly . The room was comfortable and clean. Plenty of drink and biscuit supplies in room . Large bar/ restaurant with pretty gardens. Plenty of parking. Quiet area. Easy drive into Durham. Nice breakfast

There was only 1 vegetarian main meal despite 3 blackboards of meat and fish specials. The butternut and chickpea curry was lovely but 1 option isn't really good enough.

Beds were comfortable and room was cosy

We were told on arrival that there was a wedding and there would be a bit of noise as our room was above the wedding room! It was that loud that the bed was vibrating m. Really we should have been told this when we booked up at the beginning of the week. The heating was on full as soon as we went into the room. We rang reception as we couldn’t find a way to turn the heating down. They told us that they controlled the heating throughout the hotel. We ended up having to open all four windows and put the fan on.

Lovely hotel and grounds. Great food and excellent for weddings and occasions. The gardens were light up at night which made it look so pretty. The staff were nice friendly and would go that little step above and beyond to try to make your stay a good one 😃🥰

Beds had spring mattresses which were getting passed there best. So were very uncomfortable, it dipped on one side were people had been sat on it, it was lumpy & very hard to sleep on the boards of the divan itself. For the price u pay per room per night I expected a better mattress. Plus king size beds would be nice instead of a small double. My room was right above the function room, as there was a wedding reception going on, it was very noisy and after the the function was finished, all I could hear was the dragging of tables and chairs as staff cleaned up. This went on for an hour plus so by the time I was able to go to sleep it was gone 2am ☹🥺🥱

Our room was gorgeous, breakfast and evening meal was delicious. There was a wedding going on and the hotel was busy because of this but it didn't affect the service we received at all. My daughter called the hotel and asked for prosecco to be put in our room as a little anniversary surprise and staff even scattered rose petals on the bed and arranged towels in the shape of 2 swans, a lovely little touch. Tea and coffee facilities and toiletries were really good quality. Plenty of towels. Looking forward to return visit.

Very minor issue bout facilities, towel rail was loose, only mentioning so staff don't think we caused it.

Food was sensational; we had dinner in the restaurant in the evening and breakfast the following morning; selection was impressive and food quality excellent; good staff and service throughout; room very acceptable indeed; overall a great place to stay

It was a little noisy because there was a wedding reception/party taking place; I think if you stay here over the weekend you have to accept that; that might bother some other guests but it didn't bother me at all or detract from the experience and would not deter me from booking again

The full size shower and bath were great, as was the massive TV.

We ordered room service and the food was truly some of the worst we've ever had, we ended up leaving it almost entirely untouched and it set us back nearly £40. The couch in the room had stains on the cushions so we were uncomfortable sitting on it. The bed sheets also had minor stains too. Overall a comfortable little cute place for a night or two but could use some improvements.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting relatives in Durham. Hotel was exactly what we were looking for & only 5 mins from the A/M1 so easily accessible. Rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. We had dinner on both nights - food was excellent. A special mention about the staff. Every member of staff was extremely friendly, helpful and above and beyond accommodating. Thank you

Squeaky floor boards in the second floor rooms were somewhat annoying 🙈

the breakfast was a good choice, well presented and very tasty. All meals were brilliant substantial and so much choice. My starters were as big as a main course in other restaurants, the room was basic but comfy very good shower etc.

everything in the hotel was A 1.but the annoying things were the noise of every creeking floorboard and the slamming of doors to enable the latch to avtivate, other people did comment about this.
