Location could hardly be better to explore the short 47km Slovenian coastline - best cities Portoroz and Piran on foot. Just opposite the hotel is the best beach of Portoroz. Really friendly and helpful staff. Dogs are cool. Beautiful little garden, open-air setting for meals/drinks. Good breakfast with ample selection (though no variations from day to day). Good size sea view room on top floor with private little balcony, comfy bed, little desk, proper bathroom - great.

Single biggest gripe was the aircon - rather ineffective and noisy (at least on hot days on the top floor). Would have rated '9' overall with proper climate control. Dog (EUR 20/day) and garage (EUR 15/day, hot but covered) a bit too pricey. Especially that disciplined dogs create practically zero additional workload and room prices are quite high already (but so are other hotels in town).

I like the intimacy of the hotel, how it seems like it's located in the heart of nature, while in fact you are in concrete jungle, as locals would say. No other hotel in the vicinity has such a beautiful garden, and this is the reason why I came back. The facility is located at the center, so if you don't want to waste your time driving down from the hill, you just want to go out for a evening walk and have beach on the palm of your hand, this location is ideal. The hotel feels like Art Deco building, which gives it that romantic feeling when you arrive to it. So even if it's not a luxurious hotel, it's very elegant, and it gives you a feeling of aristocracy. This was my second stay and I picked the room with sea view this time. When I looked at the other reviews, most people were complaining about a tree and how it obstructs the sea view. So I chatted with the room service and the lady explained to us that this tree is very old and it is protected. I actually like the tree very much, because if you want to look at the sea, you can always choose another hotel or walk to it by crossing the street. The point of beauty of this hotel is that it has trees, grass, and nature around it. Birds in the morning when you eat breakfast, etc. My suggestion would be to have some kind of information put up for people to read, what this tree is and what it signifies for this facility, because in my opinion, the tree is very beautiful. It gives a perfect shade, and without it, the hotel or garden wouldn't be what it is. I also really like the staff this time, especially the blonde lady who served us at the table and speaks 4 or 5 languages, which is very, very admirable. She also made great coffee for us.

There's not much that I didn't like, minor things which are more options for improvement. Maybe that I couldn't stay longer or maybe I would like for hotel to have whole suite there, or buy additional land to have pool someday etc. These are just improvement ideas, not criticism, because if these things were deterministic, I would probably have picked a hotel that offered that. So I can't think of anything that I didn't like in my stay, because this hotel is very charismatic, homey, warm, welcoming, and special. I wish that business-wise someday they maybe expand their offer and become a 5-star hotel, because they definitely have the option for that. The only hotel that can compete with them regarding to its elegance and beauty for me is the Palace, and that's about it.

Even old looking, hotel was extremely clean. Food was delicious. Frontyard is amazing, and it is next to the sea.

We booked room with terrace/balcony, and all the photos on Booking for that room had balcony looking in the beautiful garden, but our room had a balcony that was looking at the wall of the building. Since this was the main feature why we booked the room I was thinking of rating it 2-3 stars, because the photos of the booked room should match reality. Staff didn't care so much about it. Nevertheless I wouldn't do it justice if I gave the bad rating, as instead on terrace we were sitting in the hotel's garden and there was great. Keep in mind that hotel is old, and with old vibe in terms of furniture and building, so if you don't like it consider that. But its charm (for those who feel nostalgic) will give you nicer experience then in many modern 5 stars hotel.

Always our go to Hotel in Portoroź. Like coming home, would not stay anywhere else.Comfortable beds and pillows.Nice staff, especially Ivan and Peter in the restaurant.Reception has always been pleasure to deal with as well.Easy check in and check out.WIFI issues seem to be sorted now,had problems with buffering on our last visit.See you again soon hopefully later in the year.

Nothing.Only one suggestion, edging on desk furniture needs sanding and restaining and varnishing.(Chips and knocks)Only a few hours work with the right tools and material.Only a minor detail. Our room was lovely.🙏🫶🏻

The setting is stunning. The rooms are lovely. Beds so comfy. The balcony overlooking the garden & sea, amazing. Food in the restaurant is better that many of the local restaurants - well worth trying. The location is ideal - right in Portoroz but the few steps 'removed' from the main drag makes all the different. Bus stop to Piran (beautiful walled town) and to Lucija (to visit the Salt Marsh nature reserve) a few steps from the door of the hotel.

The WiFi was great for the first 2 nights I was there - even for video meetings. Then the hotel got a bit busier - all of a sudden the WiFi was useless & I had to abandon it. The fourth / final night I was there was a Friday night. The hotel was full & the noise from other rooms was horrendous. The shrieking laughs of the people in the next room - at 1.42 am - were so loud that it felt as though there were no walls. Both issues were discussed with reception staff and basically shrugged off.

The breakfast was hearty and varied. It was served in a bright and clean space. Hotel Marko is located on the seaside promenade in the center of Portorož, offering easy access to the beach and a picturesque view of the Gulf of Piran. The hotel is just a 2-minute walk from the center of Portorož and a 20-minute walk from the historic town of Piran. In conclusion, I especially appreciated the excellent location, the private garden, cleanliness, friendly staff, and the high-quality breakfast.

Nice location. Wonderful garden. Close to the beach-concrete beach not sand but that was ok for us. Parking underground but for a fee and it’s a bit steep and narrow when entering the garage. It’s best to stop for a bit in front of the hotel and ask for a parking card at the reception.

We liked almost everything. The only issue was with the hotel director who blocked our car by parking his large car in front of ours. We had to wait for 30 minutes for the receptionist to contact him and move the car. The staff did all they could to help us. But the director should be more careful when doing this sort of poor decision. As you can see in the attached photo

- The location was great and right by the sea. Access to swimming was easy, and the area was clean. It was also convenient to walk to places like Piran. - The breakfast was extensive, delicious, and included a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. - The hotel was peaceful, and the rooms were quiet. - The air conditioning worked well, keeping the room cool but not cold. - The hotel had a charming atmosphere and a lovely garden. Despite being old, it was well-maintained. - The parking was connected to the hotel, easily accessible, and the parking spots were spacious.

- We paid extra for a room with a balcony and sea view, but there was a large tree in front of the balcony, so we could only see small glimpses of the sea on either side. - The shower cubicle in the room was tiny. - The croissants at breakfast seemed to have been left out overnight, if not longer. The quality didn't meet regular croissant standards.

The hotel has a great location—just a 2-minute walk from the sea, which was very convenient. We appreciated the wide variety of options at breakfast, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall, the place was clean and cozy. Paid parking is available, which is also a plus.

However, the room we stayed in was quite small for four people. The fourth bed was actually a short fold-out chair, which wasn't comfortable for an adult. This was a bit disappointing considering we booked for four guests.
