From the warmest of welcomes, it was lovely to stay at the Grand. We were exceptionally fortunate to be in the lovely Morecambe Bay room as booked, and enjoyed the views across the bay from the duel aspect windows. The room is spacious, which we truly appreciated as we had our old girl (Greyhound) staying with us. The team were welcoming in the dining areas, we had two rooms for eating when our dog was with us, or we could eat in the dining room without her. Food was plentiful, and varied, and the staff on this team were also fabulous. We would definitely be back to stay again.

Whilst I would give a glowing review for sure, if I could make one suggestion, it would be to consider popping a small fridge in the room. Also, having plugs near the bed for charging devices would be an absolute plus. But these are suggestions, and certainly would not stop us staying.

As comfy a hotel as I've stayed in for awhile. Professional, friendly staff. Small thoughtful touches. Yes, it is a tiny bit tatty, but hardly noticeable, excusable at this price and given the size and history of the place. Treat yourself and imagine being a Victorian industrialist for your stay.

A grand old hotel with, what I would describe as, faded charm. Renovation works are clearly going on slowly but surely. It remains so many beautiful period features that jark back to the glory days of such hotels in the Lake District. It's location is okay with Grange and easily walkable distance away. The room was to a sufficient standard but would benefit from a refresh of the fixtures and fittings. This is the case with the hotel in general though I have to say it did not detract in any way from the enjoyment of our stay. If anything it added to the charm of the place. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed a very good night's rest. I would recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the area, just temper your expectations and revel in it's period grandeur and charm A thoroughly enjoyable stay which we would be happy to repeat at anytime.

Some of the fixtures and fittings need a refresh. Such as the runners on the wardrobe door etc

Basically it's the most beautiful old hotel , so expect that and you won't be disappointed. The hotel , the room , bar all very nice . Lovely grounds with a woodland walk . Great location very close to Grange over sands train station and town

Bar food menu , I'd say expect pub grub type food nothing wrong with it and reasonably priced The restaurant food was plentiful but unfortunately carvery only , which I found a bit strange but was ok because I was hungry . Grange over sands is very close and offers some nice restaurants/ bistros.

Location was convenient, with plenty of parking spaces and only a short walk or drive into town. Views from this very elegant building were lovely and the gardens well maintained. The buffet style food we had in the evening was acceptable for the price paid and the buffet breakfast was very good. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Overnight stay very competitive with other establishments in the vicinity.

Whilst everything worked in our onsuite bathroom,it really needed upgrading somewhat. The two upholstered chairs in the bedroom had a number of stains on them and the window frames could have done with a good clean. But everything acceptable for a one night stay.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Plenty of car parking spaces available. We choose this hotel when we visit The Lake District as Grange-Over-Sands is a pleasant town and is located near to Cark / Flookburgh when we go skydiving, Lake Windermere and and only some 45 - 60 mins away from the numerous mountain walks further north, e.g. Scafell Pike and Helvellyn. The hotel is also dog friendly and has a very convenient 20 min dog walk around the adjacent woodlands for those early mornings and late evenings us dog walkers have to endure !

The general decor of the hotel and rooms is fairly 'tired' looking ... certainly in need of a freshen-up in the near future. The Reception and Bar staff are welcoming, friendly and accommodating but the Restaurant staff can be a little 'blunt' shall we say !

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel decor is very tired, but it looks like works are ongoing to maintain. Bedroom wallpaper was peeling, but I'm not marking it down for that because everything was so clean. The mattress in my single room was incredibly comfy, and the blackout curtains were a treat. It's probably the best nights sleep I've had in ages!!

Probably because I didn't realise it wasn't that close to where I wanted to reach and the distance away shown on booking . Com is as the crow flies. My bad for not google mapping it. Taxis wouldn't come at all, and I was told not to bother as they are unreliable anyway. Didn't spoil my stay, though I just rearranged what I was going to do.

Beautiful old grand yet faded hotel. Will have been magnificent in its day. Whilst the decor needs updating (ripped wallpaper and chipped paint, and very dated -not original- furniture) and a bit of work needed to save the original windows, it's still an impressive place and very comfortable and relaxed. Would cost a fortune to do up. Grounds beautiful, complete with resident peacock. Location lovely, short walk from the station along the shoreline and up a long wooded private driveway. Directly opposite a footbridge taking you over the train tracks to the shore. Was ideal to watch the solstice sunrise.

The bath didn't drain well. A better range of teabags would have been nice, but with the solstice heatwave, not much need.

The grounds are amazing, the staff are friendly and welcoming, especially Thomas who took the time to chat to my daughter which she really enjoyed. The breakfast was brilliant with a wonderful room to eat in that never felt over crowded and the family room was a good size with a clean bathroom.

Areas of the hotel need a little renovation but with a huge old building of this size, it would come at a huge cost. Given the economic climate in the UK its commendable that such a large beautiful old building is kept as well as it is currently.

Good location with lovely views over the bay and easy to walk into Grange over Sands. Can see the effort being made to refurbish/modernise common areas like the bar which was very nice and the lobby etc. Didn't eat in the restaurant as we had our dog with us but the menu looked good.

Room was dated but clean and comfortable with a nice view. The room in the bar you were allowed with the dog is quite enclosed so felt a bit cut off later on in the evening when they had a live singer in the main bar and we were the only ones in the 'dog room'. Would be nice if the gardens were done up a bit as it would be a lovely space to spend time
