Felt like staying in a traditional Japanese home, but with upgraded and more modern amenities. I wanted my family to experience something traditional and unlike the western-style hotels we were staying in during most of our trip. We all loved it!

One very, very small opportunity for improvement: Changing the temperature of the lighting in the main living room to something warmer — a warmer light instead of the cool, bright white light — would significantly improve the mood and ambiance of that space and enhance the view of the garden from indoors.

Property: - Conveniently located within walking distance from the train station and near to eateries. - Has free parking for guest. - Is clean, well heated, nice decor and has a nice garden. - Bed is comfortable. - Kitchen fully equipped, though we didn't cook. - Has a washing machine with dryer. - Comes with 2 toilets, one bath and one shower. - Check in/out is easy Host - Host is very nice and very responsive to our messages. - Met up with us to introduce the property to us and how to use the appliances. - Made good recommendations for restaurants.

The apartment is 10 minutes walk away from the main train station 🚉 The house is clean, comfortable and large enough for a group of 6. Yurie san welcomed us friendly and explained clearly was we need to know. The communication with Yurie san was so easy. We would like to thank you very much for being so accommodating and friendly throughout all of our stay! We really had a great time and enjoyed everything about the place. Hope to see you again in the near furture;)

The host was very responsive and accommodating to our needs. The house was well-maintained, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect,easy access to supermarket, public transportation.

We had a wonderful stay at Sumitsugu House. The owner was very friendly and introduced us on the facilities in great details. Location is good, just about 8-10min walking from the Kumamoto station. Garden is beautiful day and night. Perfect place to fully experience the traditional Japanese house.

Nice traditional Japanese style house with a fully equipped modern kitchen. The host is nice and patient, showing us the facilities around the house.

The road leading to the house is very narrow, need to take extra care when driving a bigger car.

We loved the whole house, the fact that we got the experience of staying in a 100+ year old house, the tradition mixed with the modern things, it had everything we needed and more.

The house was located near the city centre which was very convenient to get around! The facilities were great and we loved the common spaces. Good for big groups and families

It was great to stay in a modernized yet authentic Japanese home. It was also nice that it was walking distance from the train station. We very much enjoyed the Zen garden at the property. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
