The best place we’ve ever been in Alentejo regarding peace and quietness. Truly the only sounds you’ll hear are from nature. The views are spectacular, great infinite pool. The hosts, Filipe and Luther are a wonder, they built an amazing space in the middle of a “herdade” so beautiful you won’t want to leave. At the same time it’s very close to little towns with some great restaurants for Iberian pork meals (would recommend to have a car). 1h drive away from 2 coastal areas if you want a beach day too. We stayed at an apartment with great terrace to watch sunsets and the stars.

The only minor thing would be perhaps to have more variety for breakfast- however, everything was quite tasty and this didn’t really bother us.

This place is just perfect, I was traveling for work but am thinking of an excuse to come back with my partner. The location is amazing, great friendly staff and excellent food. Great place to come back to after a busy day at work

Nothing at all

I loved my stay at the Vistas Herdade do Zambujal and especially the lovely and courteous people who run this place! It's a dreamlike place to relax and enjoy the landscape and food. The lodge is situated in the middle of the Alentejo nature and the closest town nearby is Castro Verde - 10 minutes away. So can enjoy absolute tranquillity, away from the touristic places. The atmosphere is private and cozy, as there are only a few rooms and it's never busy in the common areas. The whole area - indoor and outdoor - is lovingly and beautifully designed. The lodges are very comfortable with large bed, great bathroom, private balcony with beautiful view and minibar. Besides, there are huge roof terraces, which can be used by everyone. It's a perfect place for sunset and if you are lucky, you have the whole terracce for yourself. Another highlight is the amazing infinity pool with an incredible view. Everything that the restaurant offers is fantastic and you can enjoy the meals on the big terrace. The breakfast is freshly prepared for every guest and with many choices. The meals for dinner are incredible. There are always choices with fish or meat for a really small price and everything I tried was a real pleasure. You taste that it's cooked with love and regional, fresh ingredients. Besides all that, the people who are working there every day, make this place so special and amazing! They made me smile every day and treated me so well. Thank you so much again! I hope, I can come back one day.

Fewer flies :)

Filipe, Luther, Rowena and the entire team were fantastic hosts. We stayed here for a very pleasurable 4 nights and fully recovered after coming from the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. Our villa was luxurious and comfortable to stay in, and the quality of the bed was amazing. All the equipment was also well maintained, with daily cleaning of rooms included. Besides their authentic/generous hospitality, what really made our stay memorable was the immediate surroundings: undisturbed Savannah as far as the eye can see, flanked by lush gardens made this place a literal paradise. We also loved the concept of “farm to table” the kitchen adopted, in which some ingredients from (delicious) cooked meals were sourced from their very own garden. You can see that this retreat is truly a labor of love from Filipe and Luther. We 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a zen getaway.

Picked for its strong reviews, my wife and I stayed Friday to Sunday. The location is wonderful, Quiet, on a hill, with far reaching views. We found the staff to be friendly and relaxed. The food was universally excellent, from a "more than sufficient" breakfast to simple but very well prepared dinners. The site itself benefits from beautifully kept gardens - the highlight for us, The pool looked great. Bit chilly in March! The lodges are exceptionally well made, and tastefully furnished. The bed was very comfortable, and it was lovely to have our own terrace overlooking the river in the valley below. The grounds too are extensive with plenty of room to roam.

We loved everything! we came here for 5 days for our mini moon after getting married in Leiria, and it was everything we had hoped for. Calm, relaxing, amazing apartment with a huge balcony and the most incredible views, a spotless and beautiful infinity pool, and the most incredible onsight restaurant with the best food we have had the pleasure of eating in Alentejo. There was definitely no need to look elsewhere for food!! We had the best time!! Filippe even gave us a bottle of sparkling wine at the end of our stay for our mini moon.

Nothing, everything was amazing!!

Luther and Felipe are the perfect example of what the hospitality industry should be like just by the way they treat their guests and staff. This place should be on the cover of a Condé Nast magazine! Everything about the Herdade do Zambujal was magnificent! It is definitely one of the most amazing places we have stayed at. This place is unique in many ways. Firstly, we were welcomed by Filipe who is the most welcoming and warm host ever! He took us around the grounds and gave us a brief history of the place...right away we felt at home. The entire staff went above and beyond to make us feel like the most important guests. The grounds are absolutely stunning thanks to the work of Paulo. Everywhere you look the view is breathtaking! We couldn't say enough about the peacefulness of this beautiful place. Every meal was prepared with love. Luther sure knows how to cook amazing Portuguese dishes that will make any foodie, like us, very happy! Everything from the presentation, attention to detail, to flavors was exceptional. Huge thank you to Cheryl and Rowena for greeting us with a smile at every meal. We could feel the dedication and passion of the whole staff at every interaction. Herdade do Zambujal will become an absolute must during our next visits to Portugal. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

We were so warmly welcomed by Felipe, which was already a great start of our stay. He guided us through the herdade and gave all nice extra information about their ranch. The suite we had was so spacious, clean and full of everything you need: a very nice bathroom with great rain shower, kitchen and living room in case you want to relax, an amazing bed with an even more amazing view over the valley. Once you open the doors to your balcony you can really enjoy the beautiful gardens, valley view and all lovely sounds of birds, crickets and stars at night. Breakfast which was included was the best, next to the views, to wake up to. Lunch and dinner which can be provided for a small surcharge were exquisite, to top off with amazing wines! Luther knows how to cook delicious meals! To sum up, it was a 100/10 stay, what an amazing hosts Felipe and Luther are, with their amazing staff to make your stay unforgettable and wishing you can come back right after you left the gates of their ranch! 100% recommended!

Our stay at "Vistas - Herdade do Zambujal" was nothing short of extraordinary! Filipe & Luther, the hosts, went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff greeted us with warmth and hospitality, making us feel like cherished guests. The location itself was absolutely stunning, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes that seemed straight out of a postcard. The serene ambiance created a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But what truly set this place apart was the food. Every meal was a culinary delight, prepared with such skill and care that it left us wanting more. The flavors, presentation, and attention to detail were simply outstanding. Throughout our stay, we couldn't help but notice the love and passion that the team poured into their work. Their genuine dedication and enthusiasm for making guests feel at home were evident in every interaction. The two days felt like an eternity, with time standing still, and relaxation coming effortlessly. - There’s no sign of stress. Leaving "Vistas - Herdade do Zambujal" was bittersweet, as we had grown so attached to this beautiful place and its wonderful people in only two days(!). Although we had read the many extremely positive reviews before arriving, we were still very surprised at how lovely the place is. As said in those earlier reviews, this is somewhere to come for peace, high quality accommodation and lovely views. The hosts and their team are all friendly, polite and very welcoming. Every aspect of the modern and fresh accommodation has been well-thought through to ensure comfort and a relaxing stay. For us, the large bed with excellent bedding, big terrace overlooking a wide landscape (plus a roof one!), coffee machine, small fridge and bathroom with ample surface area (at last!) and hanging space were big positives. The pool area is stunning with quality wooden loungers and cushions. Breakfast was very pleasant outside and included eggs, bacon, plenty of fresh fruit and croissant, rolls etc. There were good choices for lunch and evening meals and a wide selection of wines - all at very reasonable prices. No need to venture out searching for somewhere and hoping it will be OK. We had been travelling for over 2 weeks around Portugal and needed some relaxation before returning to home routine. This was the perfect place for this. We will return to enjoy the walks and explore the area. In summary, this wonderful place is run by people who have achieved what so few do - a superb place to stay with great attention to detail and a warm welcome.
